  • 2 People don´t like trains.

  • Super nice to look at the American steam locomotives, but even nicer is like in August sees among them the old Polish Passenger steam locomotive with 3-axle Sluggish Oi2 (ex BR 24 DRG) of the Polish State Railways. (PKP). Wheel arrangement 1'C h2. Operating status: end 1960. Use: Mainly passenger

    trains. Thanks it's nice.

  • Every young Boy, when growing up has a dream of being a real Locomotive Engineer, I grew up with Lionel Trains, always had a love of Trains.

  • This is great. I have a train song tooo.

  • awsome video man

  • 2:00 looks like a big boy.

  • @MacGyver0076 Its a Challenger, #3985.

  • @gothpapa just wishful thinking then, LOL. love the video anyways.

  • man i miss those days

  • gothpapa I thought for a second it was #475

  • Comment removed

  • Do you rember the number of the train at 2:17?

  • @24GTrainDude No. Wish I did know the number. Its a N&W 4-8-0 like the #475 at the Strasburg -- but you probably figured that out. My dad shot that in the late 40's at the Transamerican Trucking Co depot in Columbus, Ohio, up in the north end, I don't remember exactly where it was located now.

  • @gothpapa it looks like 1435

  • The steam engine that's pulling the diesel is the Union Pacific #844 and that engine sometimes pulls a a diesel engine

& i own a scale model of it as well

  • i love trains

  • at 1:18, it's like crap crap crap CRAP! ouch

  • @titanicissuper456 No, that's a glob of grease from the 759, it hit just as the engine was passing by. But that did occur to me as I was wiping the grease off which is why I never tried it again (:-)).

  • @gothpapa no it's like this is going to hur... then it hit the multi craps are it's coming

  • just after 1:45 that steam train is hauling a diesel train with LOCKED BRAKES AND THE TRAIN IS 75 CARS TRUE STORY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @titanicissuper456 I have absolutely no idea what you are talking about, but if you say its a true story who am I to argue?

  • @titanicissuper456 #844 Wouldn't be doing that. The DD40X Is there for show and power.

  • loved this vid, love watching those beautiful living breathing machines in action. in my mind, deisel has nothing on steam. too bad there are not more steamers on the rails like when i was a kid in ohio. used to see steamers runnin every now and then when i was a kid. would be nice if more of them were restored to working condition.

  • This song gives me chills, and so does Streamliners. I dont know why, but they just have so much awesomeness in them. Oh wait, thats because they are awesome :P

  • @historyman101 That love of trains is like a chronic disease with no known cure. You're just going to have to live with it. Don't have "Lots and Lots of Trains" but will keep an eye out for it.

  • 1:23 camera gets PWNED

  • @nolifewithoutrc10 Yes, it was just a little grease from the 759. I was glad it wasn't from someone flushing a toilet -- they dumped right out o the track in those days you know.

  • but i love this song and great vid, but one question..whats the first engi ne a nickle plate?my grandpa want's to know.

  • @iowa611 That is the restored NKP #759 heading east of Lorain, OH in about 1968.

  • dude those engines at the end were filmed in the 1800's!!!big mistake to the 15,371 people who watched this P.S 1 person missed the like button

  • @iowa611 Those engines were filmed by my7 father at the Chicago Railroad Fair "Wheels A-Rolling" pageant in 1948 and 1949. I was sitting beside him, all of six and seven years old. For more of that event, look for the Chicago Railroad Fair video in my "Steam in the States" playlist.

  • No problems by using this song? very interstings scene with the HIAWATHA-Loco!

  • @hennef53 Are you asking if I had any copyright problems using this song? If so, the answer is "no problems" (so far anyway). I have used ten James Coffey songs so far without problems. You will find them all in my "Coffey Party" playlist if you are interested.

  • @gothpapa Thanks, greetings from germany to the fabulos US-Railroads! to all fotografers, like Winston Link, an all song-writers.

  • Excellent video, i really LOVE that song! Any chance i could get a copy of it from you? Thanks in advance!

  • @radionut63 Sorry it took so long to get back to you. The song can be found on the CD "I Love Toy Trains: The Music" available from Amazon, etc.

  • @gothpapa thanks anyway, but i found a copy, really nice song i got to say.

  • The locomotive at 0:25 appears to be an engine that I'm familiar with, Monticello and Sangamon Valley #1, a 1930 Alco 0-4-0.

Although currently on static display at the Monticello RR Museum in Illinois, the engine used to be operational, and would haul rides out and back from the museum. In fact, I learned how to drive steam locos from a video

    featuring the engine.

  • Actually its GTW Pacific #5629. For more of this engine see "Chasing Trains: ex-GTW 5629, April 1969" in my Steam in the States playlist.

  • Love it! Keep up the good work.

  • so kewl. i spent all weekend drivving minatures and everyonece in a while i get the chance to run a 3.3" 7.5 inch gauge forne ythat u actually sit inside. Its so kewl to sit back in the seat and listen to the roar of the fire and the loud whistle. its truely like being inside the full size one

  • It Depends on how much you enjoyed makin it

    No=Wrong

If you loved makin it that is how much i love this video

  • Thats kool my Grandfather's First Cousin was a Motorman on the New York City Subway System. My Grandfather also told me about the time his cousin took him on a cab ride once. He said it was kool to ride in the motorman's Cab.

  • Gothpap I love this Footage thank you so much for sharing it with us and thanks to your father for the footage. You guys must have been train buffs. As a fellow Train enthuiast I salute you and keep riding trains!!!

  • Glad you enjoyed it. As I mentioned below, we are moving into our fourth generation of train buffs. Oh, and my father's father and at least two of his brothers were railroaders in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, which adds another generation.

  • Great, only lets see some shots of SP4449 and the Daylights in action shall we.

  • Wish I could accommodate you on that. I rode the Freedom Train behind 4449 from El Paso to Tucson back in '76, but all I have to show for it are a few mediocre slides.

  • But isn't the footage featured in this show from videos, why not just add footage from Daylight videos?

  • Oh geez, no! You should read the "info" and the credits. Everything I post was filmed by me or my dad. Two generations of railfans spanning sixty years of train ridin' and picture takin'.

  • Actually, I misspoke above. Some scenes in my recent posting "Chasing Trains: the San Luis Valley Express" were filmed by my son Travis, which makes it three generations now. His 11 year old son Ravan was also there taking pictures, which just goes to prove that insanity is genetic.

  • nice video

  • jkkjm

  • Awesome video Definite 5 stars

  • Awsome!!!! Those days sure looked like a great place to railfan!

  • Thanks. At the risk of sounding "preachy" let me say that any time is a good time to railfan! In "those days" (the late 60's) we really thought we were witnessing the last days of a dying industry. And we never dreamed that our grandkids (you) would actually be able to see Challengers and Daylights and Santa Fe Northerns running on mainlines in the 21st Century, or to ride passenger trains, or maybe even work on a steam locomotive yourself. I am so glad we were wrong. You go kid!!

  • I'd love a video about those old locomotive replicas at the end of the video.

  • Those scenes were filmed at the Wheels a Rolling pageant at the Chicago Railroad Fair in 1948 and 1949. My Dad went both years and took my brother and me (aged 4 and 6 in 1948) both times. What a great Dad, but me thinks he had more guts than sense. Anyway, you can purchase a 60 minute video of the event from Transportation Hobby Collectibles online (thconline). I will be posting more of the scenes filmed by Dad eventually.

  • I almost didn't recognize U.P. #3985 with it's smoke wings and the fake number board that said #3967.

  • Right. In 1993 the UP and the RMRRC ran a 40th anniversary trip to commemorate the first Rocky Club trip over the UP behind a winged 3967. For that event the 3985 masqueraded as her long lost sister. The scene in this video was filmed on the ferry move back to Cheyenne the following day. My posting of the excursion itself is at Seen on the UPRR in 1993 on page two of my video index.

  • how name of song? Video he has awesome i love trains old ;* 5/5

  • "Legends of the Rails" written and performed by James Coffey from the children's video series "I Love Toy Trains." You can find it on the CD "I Love Toy Trains, The Music!"

  • Nice, my favorite engine is a consolidation. 2nd favorite is a hudson, Such nice engines, I LOVE STEAM!!

  • I remember this since 1996!!

  • Wow! Makes me wish I lived in those days. Excellent work!

  • everything in this video is awesome, but I especially love all the old steamers at the end of this video.

  • NKP berk 759 at the beginning. my 2nd favorite engine.

  • Very good work guys this video gave me chills and brought a tear to my eyes to see all those wonderful steam engines plus the song fits perfectly! Great work!
