  • this could be anywhere even in 2012 almost 30 years after this song was written. Downtown is still an endless generic mall and the long gone age of privacy is still long gone

  • Just take a second and think how cool it would have been if Jello had been elected mayor of SF?

I know, like Big Business would let an activist break up their little game of money, drugs and power.

  • it takes a scary kind of illness to design a place like this for pay

  • That's the thing about DK: Biafra could crack you up with the seriousness of what he was saying--but they were also a really down-to-earth, gritty, kick ass rock band musically. Just hear the guys pound this one out!

  • Golliwogg APPROVES of this song.

  • I've been rekindling my love for the DKs (now 39). As a kid growing up in a shitty catholic Ireland, these songs opened my mind to question EVERYTHING and in that sense have enriched me. The lyrics have been amazingly prophetic.

Biafra talks a lot of balls these days, but I have still huge respect for him, and in particular for not selling out to Levi's.

  • Swear to god I can hear "I Fought the Law" in there...

  • @ISincerelyDontCare thats called "rock and roll" youre hearing

  • Wow!Such a long time lapse there SophisticatedLunatic,I bet back in 86' you were the envy of the other young punks with all your sophistication you lunatic bahhaha.Starting sentences with fuck is usually a sign of lack of sophistication but works great in the porn industry.

  • awwww man please

  • Amazing song. One of their bests. Just bleak as fuck lyrics, sick bass lines, and dark guitar riffs.

  • This song always scares the fuck out of me...I've seen places that fit the description in the song.

  • DK the beach boys of punk fucking wicked

  • @earl973 you are a moron, don't say stupid things.

  • Fuck, I remember listening to these songs when I was like 11 or 12, now I'm 19, I'm so happy I found these again!

  • im 42 and fuck me this takes me back HAPPY FUCKING DAYS thanks to iateyourmomsdog

  • @niclufc Aaaayy!

  • It reminds me when i spent a year in nyc in 86, at that time i loved this song..

  • I love songs like this about bleak futures. They give the best visuals when you listen to them

  • this was the first cd i bought from these guys, did not like it at all at first, now its one of my favourites, thought plastic surgery disasters is their fnest work

  • Sad how this is so true even today, as are a lot of DK songs.

  • Foreboding was never so catchy!

  • ROCK HARD!

  • KIND OF A CLICHE MASTERBATION AFTER A WHILE THOUGH EH? LOL

  • jello for dinner!

  • Below them a few carcasses, of the long gone age of privacy

  • One of my all-time favs from DK! EXCELLENT!

  • such an amazing band

  • another great cong by the band, hey JELLO BIAFRA and the guantanamo school of medicine are comming to halifax, nova scotia ,canada on july 20 ,the only show in eastern canada, east of montreal.

  • The best punk band ever!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!#1 this song is so dear to me people born after the 70's really don't get it because they haven't faced the adversities like the old punk's did.At one time having a weird haircut or being yourself could easily get you in a fight because the acceptance now was not around then.My friend's and I faced a lot.

  • @blitzspeer oh shutup with that, please

  • This song is a perfect example of why I could never take Jello Biafra seriously. All the lyrics before "oozing vibes of death" are fantastic and make a truly great song... but everything after that is goofy and/or dated.

  • anywhere has now become everywhere

  • Wow, listening to this I can see exactly where Voivod got some of their inspiration.

  • @Zombie1990 The only difference is that voivod sounds like theyre just learning to play their instruments. (RIP Piggy)

  • this could be anywhere

  • JELLO 4 PRESIDENT

  • AMEN to that man.

  • @serpico89

    hell yeah

  • thanks!!

  • @dime1046 There's always room for Jello.

  • @dime1046 that isn't the best idea :P he fucked up his mates and was sued for that and thats when they separated :P still who cares XD JELLO FOR PRESIDENT

  • @dime1046 no, these people would never be presidents because they dont want to.. anyone who becomes president or authority is a bastard. only profil in their head.

  • @HeadHunteR1988 probably...hed still b better than the shitholes in the gov now even though hed totally destroy it lol...jello fuckin rocks

  • government is a joke to society! no matter what you do its a conspirecy...

  • The problem with anarchy is that there is always some ass who'll want to usurp the world or pretend that that's going to happen and usurp it in the name of defense.

Human beings have an ugly side, its what they do with it that defines their character.

  • 1 How do you know?

    2 ?

  • totally agree with mommyimadeapoopy a Great allbum, for me the best of all punk era, and one of the best in the history of rock

  • most underrated album of the 80s. totally unique and visionary, and one of my favorites of all time

  • A video game, 2 fast food chains.....

  • ok,btt...

    the song i s excellent (like a l l of them...)

DK were one of the best and most upright bands I've ever listened to - ... and saw... -

  • @ microsofbighard

Sry if i should have misunderstood ya... :)

  • @ microsoftbighard

And it doesn't mean disorder as well (even if many take one 4 the other...)...

    And i don't mean to hurt y o u personally.

I just spoke out loud what's on my mind...

  • @ microsoftbighard

I think that anarchy is not the result of all his

In my eyes anarchy ( in its best sense) should be the natural state of a society.

Anarchy does not necessarily mean violence

When you translate the word it means the absence of rulership

It is the absence of suppressive structures

  • ON PAPER, Anarchy isn't just the best social system, it's the ONLY social structure that isn't completely worthless.

On paper. In practice, it's not so simple.

  • Comment removed

  • @serpico89

On paper and in practice, you mean? Capitalism show's it's inherent failure when the words "Laissez-Faire" come up.

The only structure wherein that works is anarchy. Let the people rule over themselves.

  • @CapitalistOverlord no sorry i was being sarcastic. i was quoting what a lot of people say about capitalism. when in fact if one uses it, you find that it does not bring equality an only heightens the disparity between the lower, middle, and upper classes.

  • And it has become worse...

I remember times when we got into a fight during the big break at school.

We used to stop when our opponent lay on the floor...

    And t o d a y...?!?

It's the sign to start the "real thing"...

Even my lady tells me that "her" kindergarten-children behave more and more aggressive

  • It was reality back then and still is...

  • yeah i know. dead kennedys songs just keep getting more relevent as the years go by.

  • i completely agree with you. i have been thinking the same thing tonight. i have been listening to all the dead kennedys songs and i have realized they are all coming true. especially california uber alles

  • I know, every one of them almost. I dont know if its just because history tends to repeat its self or if its just because jello is just so smart haha.

  • ty jello, ty dk, u r immortal

  • great album - reallly great ..I like it very much - however some people dont like it...

  • EXCELLENT!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • u forgot racism, lol....

  • this is everywhere this is everywhere

  • What a song!!!!EXCELLENT!!RESPECT TO DK FROM ATHENS GREECE

  • Frankenchrist was a great album.

  • no it was not .you have to say it is a great album.because everytime you listen to it it is great.

  • One of there best.

  • I was just listening to this song while cruising around new orleans (my home). fucking shit. . .

  • this really could be (A)nywhere..

  • JELLO!

  • Scary song.

  • There is always room for Jello

  • Thanks for spiting this. Great stuff.

  • im 38, i grew up with album. i just heard this song for the first time in about 15 yrs. sad on my part but jello's lyrics mean more now then ever. and the music....im going to masterbate

  • totally agree with this comment!!10stars rated for it! thanx!

  • @greenzup LMAO DUDE.... UR 38 AND STILL MASTERBATE?

  • @jhendrix7911 He's probably married :)

  • @bIoodypingu or not... cuz i still get it, and quite often after 10 years of marirage

  • @jhendrix7911 Was just a joke man. Some people take shit so seriously.

  • @greenzup Im 47-been listening for a looooooooooooooooooooooooong time!i already masturbated this morning!hahah but youre right-lyrics mean more now than ever before.

  • This is a fuckin HARD song to play given the timing and changes.. Much harder than their faster songs.

  • weve had bad times in this country before but i think we have reached the end of the road....its time for the system to crumble,i mean did we think we could continue to get away with the way we were living ,greed, poverty, now its time for change lol ...man cant govern himself

  • RE:

    beers2257

    LOL. :)

The result is often simply explained as a letter. 'A'.

In fact Anarchy is all Man has ever realy known.

There for I think - If a Man was to wear a circle A Tshirt - If it were an educated statment, it would be in light to the Irony of it all. Not so much as goal orienteering, actualy, deep down we all want somthing better. That is unless we as a human population are becoming addicted to all the despair.

  • i tottaly fukin agree man

im getting tired of all the things the goverment tells us not to do then they do them selves

  • like weed, coccain, gay sex, violent crimes, tax evaision, paying whores, and other shit.

    I agree

  • cool.

  • I remember I had this LP back in the day Killer!!!!!!! Thank u soooo much I need to kiss u Dude if your a chick never mind lol

  • haha you're welcome :)

  • That confused me at first why do I naturally assume that only guys listen to the dead kennedys, damn stereotypes.

  • @dawnrexgurl cmon dawn, dont be so repressed, everybody kisses girls these days

  • its kinda scary that jello's words are starting to play out as truth...i think he is on to something lol, crumbling cities, people starving, schools being used as recruiting tools to keep em in good supply for our so called war on terror ...

  • Nah nothings new, people say were leaving in hard times: name an era that wasn't a hard time.

  • Just watch a film called Zeitgeist addendum.......

  • It takes a scary kind of illness

To design a place like this for pay

I think about that lyric every time I drive through certain south side Chicago neighborhoods.

  • As Jello himself says, "the dark shattered underbelly of the american dream".

    Fvckin' brillant and deep stuff.

  • I don't understand the point of this song.

  • THe songs about gangs and the decadence of the cities.

    And the vigilente.

  • "So many people I know Come of age tense and bitter-eyed Can't create so they just destroy"

Jesus, I know what he's talking about. I spent a good chunk of my life in a hopeless little rural town where all the girls get pregnant at sixteen and starte trailer park alcoholic/speed freak families whose kids end up doing the same thing. So fucking sad.

  • ur name can be mistaking eaisly lol i red fasictfashion n was like wait wut! lol then understood it. lol

  • well dont create be sedate

  • MTV get off the air!! :)

  • Probably one of the top 5 DK songs ever

I want to do a Thrash cover of this for my band

  • please,dont.

  • yeah, don't.

  • Dont take sides, Unite!

    This is everywhere

  • DK has been ruined now

I'm taking Jellos side on the entire thing, although I'll still listen to the records with Jello on

  • i like the lyrics to pretty much every dead kennedys song

  • DK's social commentaries of their time still bear truth now! "Those new kids at school seem cool but dad says not to talk to them...", I live in a place called highland park(gangs, drugs, and 15 yr old moms) and I remember kids at school that had family in gangs so they would "represent the family". They just acted like stereotypes and never tried to find their own way. ignorance + intolerance = death

  • I love this album, I really think the DKs hit their peak on FrankenChrist, you can tell Jello is really pissed.

As others have said, its as relevant today as it was 20years ago..

  • tHIS aLBUM ROCKS, i BELIEVE THIS HAS GOT sOUP S gOOD fOOD ON IT, CHECK THAT SHIT OUT

  • Gotta love jello a very smart guy

  • Just as punk as ever!!!!! You youngblood punkers should go to JELLLLLOOO school!

  • Jello is such a underrated songwriter look up the lyrics and read them along to the song, he's a genius whos words are as relevent now as they were 20 years ago

  • holy shit i have to buy frankenchirst now. I have other albums by them but now i need this one. soup is good food is great as well

  • I recommend you buy it used on eBay or something. Jello gets no money from them anymore. Also check out 'Lard'.

  • i love dks long live Jello i also like you name lol iateyourmomsdog

  • or the guy who shows off his sub machine gun to his 16 year old daughters friends whos only pride and hope is to be in the police reserve (chorus)

  • so relevant even 25 years after it was recorded

  • Not many punk bands manage to sound so...what's it called...varying? As DK does

  • ...Kids at School are Takin SIDES .... ..along COLOR n uniform lines ... ..my dads gone n bought a gun.. ..he says hes fed up with the crime in this town ... this could be anywhere .. .... i linger late at nite waiting 4 tha bus ..no amount of Neon jazz..could hide the oozing vibes ... Of DEATH....my dads a Vigilante now..hes bringin home these weird ass friends.like the guy who fires blanks at his T.V. when Kojaks on.. THIS IS EVERYWHERE.

  • FRANKENCHRIST!!!!
