Your attack strategy in this was quite ineffiencnt. You should have taken out his/her airbases so they couldn't counter-strike and THEN focus on their fortresses and city centers. Also, nukes are only effective if you plan to not send your troops into that area soon, as I learned the hard way in Empire Earth II. (Radiation + people=not good)
