my dad is giving me his old '83 Supra that's pretty damn beat up, doesnt run, plenty of body rust. what should I do with it? restore it or turn it into a stripped out race car?
I'm not one to talk shit, and I know that car could beat my 82 Supra on a straight run, but I could probably take my car faster on that track. I can take my turns so much faster than that. He probably could have too, but for whatever reason he didn't.
@kevn99 Same here in Va. I think a lot of them have rusted out. It was the same for the Datsun 240/60/80 series but I see way more of them running around here than I do a '82-85 Supra. There was one on Craigslist the other day, a professionally done conversion. Chevy 350 powered. It looked very nice.
took my drivers test in a supra just like that one execpt with stock rims. i loved that car, had my first acident with it too car survived though and its still on the road.
actually.....miiiight wana look into that (2 L (1988 cc, 121 cu in) M-TEU turbo I6) thats from a 1982-85 the T in that means turbo, and the turbo in that, ironicly, means turbo, WOAH
@evoknight im almost certain there werent, but if you find me a link pointing otherwise, i would love to see it, and see what kind of exhaust they used and if i could get my hands on one :)
They were selling one on celica supra forums a couple of months ago. It was light blue and it had paper saying factory forced induction 5m-GTE. i think it was a 1984 Celica Supra P-Type.
@evoknight No way, are you sure you're not thinking of the HKS kit they made when the supra was import car of the year? Really don't think Spearco/Turbonetics made anything for this car back in MKII days, let alone a full kit.
But I have the HKS kit on my 85 supra, the kit was installed, but not built by the factory.
@evoknight Those weren't factory turbo cars... It was either Greddy or Turbonetics who developed a 6psi kit for the ma67's shortly after they came out in 1982 or 83... They were purchased directly from toyota and sold through dealerships with the turbo installed, similar to TRD parts...

Very nice example. I remember back in the mid-80's supras were everywhere. Now you'll be hard pressed to see one every 3 years at least here in Mass.

I drove one of these, 2,8-liter, 193 horses at wheels and perfect condition. Simply excellent.
And by the way, this car has one of the best stock gauges all time!
SorsanSuuriAfro 2 years ago
@SorsanSuuriAfro
stock, it is nowhere near 193 horse power, its came stock with 161 hp

eap13 2 years ago
7m is a pain to swap mainly cause the wiring my friend did the swap took us awhile to figure it all out but it was worth it well for him atleast
