thank you for posting this. i've been looking every where to buy some grids instead of a c&c cage, although the c&c cages are very nice but expensive to ship to canada. i tried linens n things and found it was quite expensive. bed and things = much better prices ! yayyyy. thank ya thank ya !

Xxstyle... Fleece can get smelly for sure but keep in mind it does not work the same as bedding. In a way, fleece is like a diaper. Fleece is very low absorbancy, so, with towels, newspaper or synthetic chamois underneeth, most of the moisture on the fleece gets wicked down below the surface. When using fleece, a seperate "bathroom" is a good idea. I use shredded cardboard and papertowels in the litter box area because paper impedes the conversion of urin into amonia. Keeps the smell down.

I saw a carboard tube. Be careful what you use for that. I am not sure if you bought it or made it. Cardboards and the glues in cardboard can be toxic. I found that out with a paper towel roll /toilet paper roll and my gerbil. He started shaking so I took them out and he got better.

How adorable!  I like your idea on separating the hay spot from the rest of the cage. I'm supposed to be doing homework instead of looking at stuff, but I still have to score, cut, and fold coroplast today, and hubby has to saw the L shape into the board we have to support the cage... ugh, dreading all the work!
