Not quite sure why you've been given thumbs down, since it's a known fact that Waits admired Hicks and Hicks' favourite artist of all time was Waits. Its is in fact very likely that he had heard this in Hicks' act.

It's obvious this Futurian here ain't in show business, but if he were he'd know how well-respected Waits is among true performers and musicians. He might have even met him, in which case he'd know Waits is sincere in what he does, and is a genuine product of the musicians, residence hotels and crooks he's known
