My top coat smears. But if I go really quickly to brush it across my nail, then it won't streak. Just put a lot on the brush and run it down the middle of your nail really quick. Then it will be good and you can use any top coat.

you know you really DONT have to use the special nail polsih that comes with it. you can use regular polish as long as its thick. :) you should use the 'KleanColor' brand for a top coat. they're great. :)

you have to let it dry really well so you don't smear the adorable image so you dont need to buy a new top coat!

@oceanfront90 Thanks! No, you can use any polish for your base color. For stamping polishes, Konad's "special polishes" made for stamping do work the best, but you can also use opaque and metallic polishes from other companies. It takes some testing to find which ones work best.

On the instructions for the Special polishes from Konad, it said to use a base coat or regular nail polish before using it, as it can damage your nails. Just thought I'd say as I couldn't really tell if you had a base (or clear) coat on.

@fairyjossy Any kind of metallic, chrome, or foil polish works great. For others it just depends how opaque (less see-through the better). Once you get Konad you should just test all the polish you already have and see if anything works.

hey i just bought my first kit of konad and i am having problems with the actual process of grabbing the color with the stamper. I am not sure what its happening but after applying the special nil polish and make the scrape the stamper don't get any of the design. I am about to get krazy with this. Can You gave me some tips?

@fairyjossy Hey! Are you working fast enough? The polish dries really quickly so you have to work as fast as possible. If that's not it you might need to lightly buff the surface of the stamper with a fine-grit nail file to rough it up a little bit. It might be too slick to transfer the design. Even with those two things, it doesn't always work. I  get different results every time I use it. :( Good luck!

I use Sally Hanson's UV Top Coat and it doesn't smeer it although the design has to be dry before you put it on. Hope this helped!

that is not fair! i used this for the 1st time a couple of days ago and i literally have to put the nail polish over the design, scrape, and stamp in like 3 seconds! or else it won't stick to the stamper, you seemed to have no trouble and i probably went the same speed as you did the first couple of times i used it :( i got the hang of it but the whole dab, scrap, stamp in 3 seconds is a buzz kill.

@lechopper That sucks! Have you tried using a variety of polishes? Some dry faster than others. And honestly I get different results every time I stamp. It's super annoying. The process sure isn't foolproof but it's still so much better than anything I could do free-hand!

@GirlLeigh thanks for the reply! i have been doing some research on youtube and i hear you can take a nail filer or a buffer and run it over the rubber stamp 2 or 3 times, clean it off and it should help to stick better! hope it works i will try it when i do my next design :)

@ajade2000 Any metallic polishes work really well. Other than that if the polish only needs one coat to fully cover the nail (opaque -- can't see the nail through it) then it should also work well. You just have to test all the polishes you already have and make a list of what works so you know for future manicures.

use a top coat that is less thick. or thin what u have. get enough polish on ur brush to stroke 3 times starting in the center at the cuticle then from either side starting again at the cuticle. since the konad polish is thicker (u can use any other thick polish brand if u like as well, most are compatible....remember 'thick') let it dry a longer period of time prior to applying top coat.

If yiou want a cheap top coat, I recommend the Wet n Wild mega last ultra gloss quick dry top coat. It's like 3 dollars. But the best is seche vite. You can go over the design 3 times without smearing (cuz I did it). I don't recommend the base and top coats.  Those don't work that well.

I ended up buying Konad's top coat because I still haven't found a different one that doesn't streak. I'm pretty sure people have said they put Seche Vite on over a first different top coat in order to seal everything in. You might be able to get it at CVS (I don't know if you have those where you live) but I do know that nearly every beauty supply store should carry it.
