I didnt even read the first comment and my first thought was "this elephant looks depressed". Its odd how visually you can really see the emotion in elephants more than other wild animals. Especially the younger ones.
Elephants never exhibit this kind of behavior in the wild or sanctuaries. Zoos need to release their elephants to sanctuary, just like the Detroit Zoo did.
