  • i ride western and all i want to do when i get older is barrel race! man, i RESPECT these racers! they are so brave, talented, and amazing!

  • that was insane they were getting 14 & 13 seconds without the knocked barrell

  • shit!!

  • Umm... Actually confirmation does matter. That and temperament are pivotal to be competative.

  • I really miss can chasing. Adult responsibilities suck!

  • my horse dose my english and my barrels both and i love him to death he is one of the best horses anyone could have he is trully one in a million and hes good at his jobs and know what hes doin i love you razor and you are trully the best horse anyone could ever have

  • It's really amazing! I ride something between english and western and I like it so much!

  • I am just starting western and I have completed english. i am interested in barrel racing and this makes it look like soooo much fun

  • any horse can turn a barrel. just like any horse can jump. but not every horse can slide to a stop And turn a barrel to make times like these. and not every horse can jump heights that some cannot, with precision and speed. both takes talent and time to accomplish, and it depends on the horse and rider. anyone/any horse can do it, but not all will do it with amazing speed and turns.

  • I would really like to do barrel racing but I dont have my own horse, no one to train me, and people say I'm too young when I started riding at 4 and I'm 9 now so I got quite some experience! Any suggestions?

  • i would like to barrel race but i dont have a hores or anybody to train me i use to have horses and wanted to barrel race when i was younger but then my dad got sick and we had to get rid of our horses

  • I have a QH that i currently do the hunter/jumper stuff with but im moving to a new barn so i think i may experiment with the barrels. She can turn on a DIME she's got Doc Bar in her, so we may change careers lol

  • Barrel racing is my favorite horse event, and I can't stand any English riding but I won't pit you down, some of you people are really being to brutal...

  • now this is a sport!!

  • @AnnieBooze

    You're completely wrong.

Why do you people always have to attack how others ride?

I do both jumping and barrel racing. And training a horse to barrel is a million times easier than to jump. Any horse can and will turn a barrel. Not every horse will jump a jump. Plus, horses do not go "full speed" around the barrel they slow down and shorten their stride.

So before you attack how other people ride, you should know what you're talking about.

  • i want to try so bad but my arab was trained show halter so this kind of stuff would scare him so bad

  • Barrel racing is so much more then you would ever think and the horses are talented... any horse can jump it's in there nature. but how many horse do you think can sit down and turn a barrel a full speed!

  • can i use these clips?

  • I luv barrel racing if u go 2 8181smith u will c a barrel racing video that's me I'm in junior barrels ..

  • i just sarted doin barrels and i traded my lazy horse for a beautiful bay quarter barrel horse the best time i got was 27.459 but im holdin her back the best time she gotten was 14.236

  • That video is hopefully my dream coming true one day.

  • Ok I understand this is a sport and your dedication, but why do you wip your horses so hard??? That doesnt look like atitude of someone who loves their animals

  • @TheRachel33 You make me laugh :) Stupid always make me laugh.

  • @WranglerBound girl who are you to call me stupid???? I must assume the stupid one is someone who, having no answer to a question, laugths at their own contradictions and lack of coesion

  • @TheRachel33 Hey I'm sorry I shouldn't have been mean like that. Barrel racers aren't trying to hurt their horses. We only want give them a bit of encouragement to go faster. I really am sorry for being a b.

  • @TheRachel33 Horses work by cues. They have to learn the connection between what the rider is doing and what they want to happen. The whip is just a cue to keep going. It doesn't hurt the horses (at least the way the top riders use them). It takes a tremendous amount of rapport between horse and rider to compete at this level and that rapport wouldn't exist if the riders were hurting the horses.

  • I love barrel racing! It's my life! These people work very hard to become champs.

  • como puedo obtener este video???

  • wow this kind of barrel racing takes serious skill :O

  • @purplejumpergirl yes!!! try it! my friend is english and shes doing it (:

  • why buy a horse when you could buy a dirt bike?

  • @cquackaz My brother and I have this argument all the time

  • @cquackaz O.o :O Because dirt bikes cant love you like a horse.. o.O

  • @Doxiechic101 hahaha that was some gay stuff you just said right there

  • @cquackaz r u trying to come out of the closet ? its ok if your gay well all understand.

  • @Doxiechic101 besides if ur soo obsessed with dirt bikes then why are you looking at a barrel racing video ?

  • @Doxiechic101 you just like riding horses cause thats the only thing that will actually go between your legs...hahaha

  • @cquackaz im sorry but thats kind of funny

  • @saddlebredhorsegirl lol thank you...i dont actually have anything against barrel racers...i actually enjoy cheering on my friends that do barrel racing...we were watching a video of it and to annoy her i wrote dirtbikes are better...lol

  • @cquackaz haha ya its a good way to piss off a lot of barrel racers :)

  • @Doxiechic101 take your conflict somewhere else! This is a place to discuss not put down!

  • @cquackaz um because you cant jump a dirt bike, you cant amaze peolpe on how well you ride it, it doesnt take skill, it cant love you, you cant bond with it, you cant show in over 40 categories, u know i could go on and on. a bike is a bike that does nothing, a horse can GIVE you some thing and TEACH you something, and you probably just dont know how to love is all... i pity you...

  • @HorseChickz the only thing horses give you is shit....i mean that figuratively and literally.

  • @cquackaz well good for you, after you form a bond with your shit bike, get back to me

  • @cquackaz

    seriously?? why are you here??

  • Want to try barrel racing, although I don't exactly see myself getting to this level, it sounds like soooo much freaking FUN!!! :D

  • I wish so bad, that one day I could be as good as these girls cause they r so fast, and right now im runnin 19's clean, but i dunno, only started competeing last year. Oh and before you go sayin crap about riders, u should rlly try it out urself, cause it aint as easy as it looks i can go ahead and tell u that right now. And besides barrel racin, chute doggin is a blast too!

  • i ride english and do all that jumping and stuff and alot of english riders dont like barrel racing.. but man, i respect these riders, they are just as good as any. amazing. ive always wanted to try barrel racing...

  • @alwaysinthesaddle then try! the more you experience the better!! :D jumping is always my #1 passion but barrel racing is probably #2 but i ALWAYS wear a helmet

  • @alwaysinthesaddle i ride english and i don't see why people don't like barrel racing i'm planning on training my horse to do a few western movements, i think it might help with flexibility and jump offs :D

  • @alwaysinthesaddle you should try it sometime! it's a lot fun! i've also done a lot of jumping but there is just something about barrel racing that just gets my heart pounding... i love it!!

  • @alwaysinthesaddle

you should try barrel racing its really fun. but the only thing is that you should start with a trott aroung the barrels and build up your spend each time you do a barrel pattern. once you get to running the pattern you will have a lot of fun you just gotta hod on tight.

  • @alwaysinthesaddle me too i jump but i want to do dressage

  • To Ghost4420...try it before commenting! YOU just viewed the best of the best! Moron!

  • I would just like to thank the woman who put this series here on utube. Thank you for taking the time to give the rest of us something to "talk about"

  • Wow, thats some crappy riders O.o

  • @Ghost4420 u should seriously try it before you say tht they r crappy barrel racing is very difficult it takes hours each day to get as good as these horses and riders are!

  • @Ghost4420 You realize that these are the best of the best right? Idiot. And since you dont have any videos of you riding up I conclude your a horrible rider.

  • @Ghost4420 by horse show standards yes.but they are some pretty tuff riders and are good at what they do

  • hey

  • I have a horse named Digger and he is 7 he uses a tie down becuase it helps keep him balaced, it helps so much while controling him through the barrels :) but then i have another horse Niska he dosnt need a tie down because he has never used one and he just dosnt need the extra suport, all horses are different.

  • i dont barrel race i usually bull ride but i only do it like in my town i dont have any intentions of going pro. and when we have a rodeo i always get butterflys and all the guys think im crazy cuz im a girl and when they see me ride there jaws drop not tryin to brag but i love it and my family. my brother used to barrel race and he went to ropin. but he loved it. i love how the horses and the riders work together. and i think its a wonderful sport.

  • @94farmgirl yay im not the nly girl tht will get on a bull and have a go!

  • @mightymouth4ever lol yea you aint the only one cuz me and my friends that are girls ride and they also barrel race but they seem to like ridin bulls the best . but usually the girls i see ride are very good but sometimes they just tryin to show off if you kno what i mean. lol.

  • Tie downs are a good way to keep your horse from tripping at those speeds. Horses like to through there heads around when they are at a crazy fast run, Tie downs dont hurt the horse it just makes it safer , and Barrel racing is HARD. I dont know how many bruised "areas" I got from trying to teach myself and my horse. I dont do it at rodeos or anything, just some fun in my pasture, it also helps my horse keep her muscles and lungs in shape. Love these girls and I wish I was this awesome lo.

  • I've been riding barrels for the past 5 years and it truely is amazing. It gives me butterflies everytime I go to run :)

These are freakin fasttttt. The fastest I've run was an 18, but that was on my 16yr old mare. I just bought a new colt that I'm going to train up, and hopefully I'll be at a competing level. He's gonna be fast, he's got SkipperW lines.

  • @YourExactHeroin lol I get butterflies too. :) I love barrel racing tho!

  • YEEEHAW. these girlies sure can ride. its my goal to go to the national finals rodeo :)

  • way to go ladies!

    you kick Butt!

  • my frind says that this isnt the original pattern is it?

  • @Ilovershorses accualy there is no original pattern it is what they assign you to

  • My fist time only barrel run I was on my moms tranied high school champion BARREL RACING horse. went to just trot it..... found out i was running it haha

  • some of u girls cut really good and some of u girls cut 2 tight and some 2 wide

  • @elisecia24 no one perfect all the time..

  • That truly is an amazeing sport, and the skill, knowledge, and talent to be able to do that is even more amazeing. I bet those girls have very strong bonds with there horses to. Keep up the good work.

  • haha....i heard a fone ring..lol...but i love this video.

  • barrel racing is the only thing i will ever do on a horse i cant think of any thing better right now i show at place called STSHA and theres nothing more that i want to do its a nice family sport every one is great sports when i got a kick ass time i was told good job at least 10 times you rarley find a sore loser or some one stuck up barrel racing teaches you just to go out there and have fun

  • remember that these girls work their asses off to get where they are, and if it hadnt been for their hard work and experience, and riding skills, they probably wouldnt have gotten any sponsors, which means they wouldnt have been able to afford it! not all of them are rich prissy chicks who sit up there and do nothin.

  • Beautiful horses...fast times...accomplishments......great people....thats what i love about rodeo=]

  • I barrel race and I know Meagan and then met Brittany! Sand I know it is hard riden without stirrups I seem to do tht alot hahaa

  • my horse loves to barrel race and pole bending i get 20. i need help getting it down . hes a 12 year old throrughbred.

  • Lindsey Sears is AMAZING!!! I hope I can run that fast one day!!

  • i love barrel racing!! i hope to qualify for the NFR one day... :)

  • That second horse was an absolutely GORGEOUS black.

  • you should see my mare,,, when she wants to run and she knows its time to run she just doesnt walk in she mucks around and chucks her head, rears, bees naughty but that horse can run drums and doesnt need a tiedown when she runs.... tiedowns most the time are used on geldings and or stallions because they are the shit heads and get their nosess right up in the air.... these girls wouldnt put it on if they didnt need it to help control their HIGH STRUNG QUARTER HORSES!!!!!!!!

  • A tie down wont give a horse more balance but if the horse's head is down the rider feels more in control so I think it helps the rider with their balance. But most of the girls in NFR dont even use tie downs, the horses can run more freely and turn better without the constant downward pull of a tie down. Believe me I am in no way criticizing how these women ride.

  • Tying a horse's head down won't help them balance!

  • @Sight19 actually it will because if you dont their head goes crazy when they run fast

  • Taking off a tie down will not make a horse go crazy.

You people don't need to talk about something you know absolutely nothing about.

  • @basssingr1994 thats just means they want to run

  • they're so fast! my horse who I began in barrels a year ago but havent yet shown is slow, like her best time is 19 seconds or somewhere around that (timed when we were practicing) but then again, shes twenty but shes a three year old at heart

  • @horselover0853 Lol I love old horses that still think they're young. Don't worry about her being slow I bet all those NFR riders started with slow horses and gradually moved up to faster horses. My first barrel horse had a best time of 17:26.

  • @wolfsvain2 don't worry my first horse was about 15 when i got her and my fastest time was an 18 and that was when the fastest horses there got 16s

  • @live2ride6692 Lol, my first horse started out running 19.

  • @wolfsvain2 omg same here! i was so scared and i didnt want 2 get bak on but im glad my dad forced me to :) i love it now

  • @escaramuzaml OMG, I'm glad someone agrees with me! So far people try to seem fearless! THANKS!!!

  • oh haha there good i do that is funn

  • how can you get into NFR?

  • @jessmart76543 You have to buy a PRCA card and go to PRCA rodeos throughout the year and the top 15 money winners get to go

  • @cquackaz Well then go watch them instead!

  • man fast horses!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • the horse at 2:40 looks like my horse hejduk :)

  • Great Times; I Wish My Horse Was A Good Barrel Horse <3

  • wow!! thats an amazing time!! wish my horse could run like that

  • You cant just use any horse for it. I know for a fact. I have been running my one horse for 3 years now and he is not hyper on when hes going into the areana i put a 3 year old on him and he was fine. It takes alot of work to condition and teat theses horses what to do

  • okay few questions i amnew to barrel racing i usally ride english but i started to do poles and barrels but hwat horses are barrel racers the one i use is a qauter horse and why are these horses all peppy and hyper

  • @PNpanther2015 most barrel racers are quarter horses or appendixes, sometimes tbreds. They're peppy and hyper because they learn to get fired up when they're about to run-they have to be or else they won't be flat out running the entire time XD enjoy your ride on the western side :)

  • @PNpanther2015 the breed doesnt matter that much

  • GO SHERRI CERVI

  • wat do u mean poor horse its just barrel racing i know its going to be a long time before i can get my next barrel horse....

but this is not a poor horse ok infact horses love doing this!!!!

  • @luvduke4eva yeah i know these horses are treated like rockstars

  • @TheNitsrekStar ....Do you realize how much FUN barrel horses have? Performance horses love what they do, so long as they are trained and worked properly. Same as ANY other athlete.....

  • I know someone that has a big chance at going to the NFR oneday her name is colleen clark when she comes you guys better hold on to her hats she has an AWSOME horse he is kinda like martha pharr's horse except he is only 6 and he is alredy runing an easy 15.1 his 1st year in the rodeo circit!!!!

  • i <3 barrel racing!

  • im going to go the NFR one day

  • these girls are going breakneck speed, cool, i want to join but i only compete in high school rodeos

  • @jessmart76543 well you have to be at least 18 to apply for a card

  • Bigshot is my friends babys brother

  • i love nfr barrel racing.........but this year really disapoints me......most of the girls are riding horrible and you can totally tell they are out of control........hopefully next year they will be better

  • my moms frnd got 11 seconds on her horse sugarbear and she was 29

  • @teddy6476 the barrels were probably spaced a lot closer together lol :)

  • i barel race but in in the AFRA (stands for amarican family rodeo asoseation)!!!!!! nice jod bye the way

  • The second to last racer needs to learn how to ride before she comes to events like this! Oy vei!

  • I think the whole tie down argument is funny. I know people who just watch barrel racing and assume well if i want to do that i need one, same with bell boots and bits, but when you get to this level you do not just automatically need one. It depends on the horse. I barrel race a TB, and yes we do awesome!, and she will literally hit be in the face with her head if i do not have a tie down on her.

  • Wow, those horses are FAST!!

  • Tie downs are frequently used to help keep a horse's body balanced out. People don't just tie their horses heads down and ask them to run, they have reasons behind using them. Now that you've learned that, you should also realize that ANY girl who has qualified for the NFR both knows how to ride extremely well, and does NOT just sit there - they work their hardest to get to the NFR. Money can buy you some things, but it can't buy you a national title.

    Think before you insult people.

  • What leads to the belief of buy a good horse win a title is at smaller events where daddy buys sweety a trained horse and she wins. the rest of the girls might not do as well having to train their own horse but later on when riding skill becomes as much an issue as the horse it pays off.

Like you said money can't buy a national title.

  • @no4go2 AMEN!!!

  • @paigemarie546 that is exactly right. i just started barrel racing a couple of months ago and hoping i'll be good enough for the NFR one day.....

  • @paigemarie546 tiedowns are a sign of bad horsmanship (no offence to the NFR and CFR people who use them)

  • @pawsforacause1 no actually it is good horsemanship if you dont want your horse to get injured

  • @paigemarie546 I know tie downs can't be bad unless people abuse them!

  • the rules dont say you have to wear a collared shirt, they say you have to have long sleeves....

  • How come Lindsay is exempt from wearing a collared shirt like every other cowgirl in the continental US? She should be DQ'd. We don't want to see her cleavage and she should follow the rules!!

  • Plus I think they throw their heads because they are trying to balence themselves which they can't do since their head is tied down.

  • Not true at all. Tie downs are used on some horses to correct a bad habit, rearing, head bobbing, etc. But, people that know horses know this.

  • you obviously don't know a lot about horses. 90% of the people are NOT rich. A LOT of people train their own horses. Was there a study on it or something? Or wait,I forgot, your the expert here I guess.

  • @barrelracercassie You're exactly right. I bought a green four year old filly and within five months she is running 22's and 23's on barrels. I'm not rich, infact I don't even race at a place that you win money from.

  • i trained my own horsey and she is winning against open girls and she dont need a headcheck/tiedown...

  • @sarahbomar88 well those girls busted their buts to get there.those horses throw their heads cuz their excited and want to run

  • wow

  • i love to watch the horses before the cowgirls start there run, the horses are so pumped up its awsome:)

  • i started using one then stopped and my horse wasnt responding as well and as soon as i switched she ran low 14.1 14.2 and she had been runnin 14.7 14.8 soo some horses run good with them some dont !

  • Here's my insight on tie downs:

--Some horses need them, because they lift their head when you ask for a slower speed, or a rate, and they completely blow past an obstacle.

--Some horses need tie downs when they are running and turning barrels to BALANCE. They rely on the tie down to be there, so they can more or less "lean" on it to balance themselves the best they can.

    .

  • that was awsome thats goin to be me one day hopefully

  • I always wonder how to strangest things become topics on videos.

Tiedowns- Tie-downs are not a neccesity in barrel racing. They are originaly ment for horses who throw their head or lift their head too high. Tacking your horse with a tie-down has nothing to do with the speed you are going.

  • 67hickchick your no pro prove to me that you are a pro

  • no the spurs that they use are not sharp at all it just makes them go faster

  • uhh you dont have to use a tiedown you know rodeo gal i know ive been barrel racing for years . even if you ran without one the horse should be trained enough not to be bucking when you ride anyway one of my horses doesnt use a tiedown when i run him and he goes much faster without one.

  • nooooooo bull crap im a pro barrel racer and i dont have a tie down on my horses and yes some horses would go faster but not all some need to balance around them and some dont they need to be able to strech out so yea

  • ya my horse needs a tie down to balance..........when i dont use one she cant turn very good :)

  • Cowgirl11396 ..........haha ya.. you try riding those kind of barrel horses without tiedowns and see what happens.. Some horses have to have them!! Apparently you have no clue about Barrel racing! which means you shouldnt be talking crap!!

  • Nooooo! , Youuu cant get rid of tiedowns then the horses woulld go bucking and crap!

  • noo i beg to differ

tie downs keep the horse from lifting his head to high my horse needs one because when i ask him to stop he throws his head in the air it has absolute sqat to do with bucking i dont know where the hell you heard that but its wrong

  • OMG if pl would get rid on tie downs there horses would be 20 times faster!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • yes but then you might not be able to stop that wat my horse does if i ask him to stop with no tiedown he throws his head in the air

you are correct, but some horses absolutley need them

  • omg ty so much for putting the video on here i love you lindsey sears !

  • thanx so much for posting this!! MAEGAN REICHERT I LOVE U!!! WOOOOHOOOOOOO!! :)

  • yes thank you so much stupid canada didnt have the rodeo on this year!

  • thanx so much for postin this!!!

  • You are more than welcome for my postings. I'm glad so many people could see them...not realizing that when I posted Round 1, that had it not been for my posting...some wouldn't have been able to see the rodeo at all. I only wish the quality could have been better. I video taped it at fine resolution but after it uploaded to Youtube...the quality sadly disintegrated.

  • Classymis,

Thanks a million for posting the rounds. We haven't been able to get them in Canada. I appreciate you doing this very much. It helps us Canadians keep in touch with what was going on, especially since Lindsay Sears was vying for the World title. Once again thanks.
