Hi sensei, I was wondering what the difference between Ohtsuka's Naifanchi and this one is. Also, why is it that we are supposed to practice it like this?
Well you only have to see the way Ohtsuka sensei does this kata elsewhere here on youtube, to see that there are big differences. You are not supposed to practice this kata like this, at least not at 9th kyu level. This way of practicing the kata is a work of energy, identifying and developing sources.
No, this way of doing naifanchi is not the way Ohtsuka sensei thought it. This is the way we practice it at my Dojo. This form of performing naifanchi is a way of working with the anatomical power sources and the body's structural alignment.

It is difficult to explain in writing.
