For crying out loud: WHY cant you guys just enjoy the music without endless discussions about who is best??? Comparing two guitar players are like comparing apples to bananas. Clapton is good, Lee is good, Winter is good Blackmore is good etc.. Discussing who is best is allways a matter of taste.

Ginger Baker is way better than Ten Years After drummer...but...ALVIN LEE put Clapton on such a shame ...is bizarre the diferencebetween them,,Alvin has technique and stile and lot of feeling waay ahead of his time.WWaaay better than hendrix too i know i'll go to jail cause no one can say anything about someboby being better than Jimi,witch was an ground breaker no doubt ...but didnt come close to Alvin...Page,,,Yoummi all have big Alvin influence .said by themselves.
@micadinz It's a damn close call, but I'd suspend making it unless/until you've heard Cream do Spoonfull *live*. If you're compring this to Cream's studio version, then yes, this obviously superior.
@polymath7 My thoughts are based on the old live Cream version on Youtube where they jam with no audience - watched it about 75 times. It's one of the best on Youtube. So to assert anything is "better" is a tall, tall order. Let's just say they are both among the finest examples of what authentic rock music is all about - high energy, skilled musicians who are totally inside the sound, volume and burning hot vacuum tubes, transcendent emotions, eccentric style. Yeah life is good.
