Christina's runs and vocal control are incomparable in my opinion. She doesn't "shout", she just has so much strength and emotion behind her vocals. The majority of the time she's singing with very little volume but so much emotion when needed. Mariah is obviously extremely talented too, but in my opinion, Christina by a mile.

Yet even though very similar aesthetics, their artistry are completely different....I cant choose....I always love listening to them sing.....Mariah's higher notes are a lot more opened, while Christina's lower register is a lot more defined. I love the scream Christina can pull out, but I love the clarity of Mariah's upper register.....
I really love the both of them...I have all there music, remixes, seen all their videos, root for them, listen to the B-sides, have the B-sides, know the un-released songs, know the live versions, know the history...But I never really listened and heard how similar they really were.....

She can't blend out her notes for shit when holding. All in the same octave! Mariah on the other hand has beautiful tone. Though she lacks a bit of power, she makes up with it with her soft, careful notes. Her notes touch the soul (and fade out with stunning melisma). Screaming loud and belligerently is not soulful. i'm a big fan of both of their voices. they have the prettiest sounds in the industry, but talking about technical side of singing, mariah wins. live or studio, mariah sounds great and almost perfect in every note and enunciation, though she doesn't sound as great as before, she stil surpasses aguilera's technique. that's why aguilera is barely incapable of hitting the high belts of her songs when she sings live (beautiful, fighter, lady marmalade) and she either skips them or skips them. LOL

I honestly have too disagree Christina has been the only that has an accomplished raspy voice. Why kind we like them both? I prefer Christina's voice, and they both sing incredibly live (well, used to), but now their voices are going to shit from so much overuse. It's a shame, they're both so talented.

Xtina is an average singer. Nothing great about her. Just a lucky person! There's a lot better singer than Christina with a better technique. But Mariah, not just because i'm her fans, Mariah is great in her recording and her live performance. And even her voice not as good as used to be, she still has a great musicianship!

The thing is, Christina has to add a whole bunch of thrills, curls and runs to her notes in order to get that somewhat noticeable and appreciated. WHILE MARIAH, just has to sing those high notes with all the emotion and appeal of any run Christina could ever do AND WOW AN AUDIENCE. The purity and clarity of Mariah notes are just amazing! i'm a big fan of both of their voices. they have the prettiest sounds in the industry, but talking about technical side of singing, mariah wins. live or studio, mariah sounds great and almost perfect in every note and enunciation, though she doesn't sound as great as before, she stil surpasses aguilera's technique. that's why aguilera is barely incapable of hitting the high belts of her songs when she sings live (beautiful, fighter, lady marmalade) and she either skips them or skips them. LOL

I honestly have too disagree Christina has been the only that has an accomplished raspy voice. Okay, it's hard to comapre becaus they are both amazing! but to me, Christina wins! Mariah has never had as strong voice as Christina and just don't quarrel with me when i say that Christina can do better curls then Mariah! There is enough strain in there to break the average skyscraper. It's not like Mariah doesn't sometimes strain, but at least both she and Whitney sound better up there - totally agree.

But Mariah, not just because i'm her fans, Mariah is great in her recording and her live performance. And even her voice not as good as used to be, she still has a great musicianship!

The thing is, Christina has to add a whole bunch of thrills, curls and runs to her notes in order to get that somewhat noticeable and appreciated. WHILE MARIAH, just has to sing those high notes with all the emotion and appeal of any run Christina could ever do AND WOW AN AUDIENCE. The purity and clarity of Mariah notes are just amazing! Christina does to much doctoring.. its annoying at times. Her high notes tend to sound unhealthy too. Based on RAW TALENT, MARIAH ALL THE WAY!

You can't just come out and hit that note without building up to it. I don't know, they're obviously both ridiculously talented. Mariah has placed herself as an alto, while others have called her a 'light lyric soprano', so it all depends on how you want to classify it.
