Hi Vi, Here are my thoughts. Sometimes people- even the ones that are close to us- say things without fully understanding the implications they have on us. When this occurs I find myself asking this useful phrase "What else could this mean"? Was your Mother (perhaps subconsciously) wanting you avoid the pain that she or someone she knew experienced? ALSO- your Mom probably told you a ton of stuff that you didn't take to heart- so why did this topic bother you? (con't)
And yes, I believe that THESE types of views are changing in society all the time (change is inevitable-progress in not). Plus, the divorce rate is almost 50% in this country-so what does that tell you? I'm White, I think your very attractive and, I would have totally loved dating you back in the day. In fact, I would go as far as to say that you are definitely "Wifey Material"- and that's just from 6 and half mins of video! So keep being positive and don't let the nonsense get you down! (con't)

My mom has said a lot of other things that have bothered me in the past but I think this particular comment took root because I was hurting over someone at the time and was more vulnerable to her judgements/opinions. p.s. I'm a white canadian guy who grew up around nothing but white people. I had the opportunity to spend time with a black girl on a cruise I recently took. Hey guys, a woman is a woman no matter what the packaging. You find her interesting, sexy, bueatiful, intellegent and fun to be around, WHO CARES WHAT TRIVIAL THINGS SOCIETY SAYS YOU HAVE TO WORRY ABOUT. She was a rare bueaty and the only thing I regret was that we didn't have more time together. M from Rhode Island I hope you read this.
People of an older generation don't have much insight into these issues because their references are out of date. I mean, in past generations, it WAS really unlikely that a non-black guy would get serious with a black woman, because there was so much more prejudice to deal with back then.
Yes, some prejudices are still a factor. And yes, many guys will assume that you only date black guys. But it's too extreme to say that black men are your only dating option.

The honest truth is black women are the least desirable of all races. White/Asian/Latino men want their own women or white women.
Obviously, there are some exceptions but you will never see a rich, handsome, alphamale non-black man with a black women. I'm not trying to be mean but you can LOOK up the stats online for interracial dating - black women are wrote back the least and are in the least # of interracial marriages.
Society portrays black women as inferior, it may not be true, but yeah.
@GerrardRonaldo Okay, I know what society says, but let me ask you do you think this can change? I do. I think within my lifetime people will date whoever they choose. Also, there are high powered men with black wives. Look at Robert DeNiro, ALL of his relationships have been with black women.
@vi867 I think it can change if there are no more blacks/whites/asians/latinos, and everyone is mixed. The thing is the media controls what beauty is, and as much as people shudnt pay attention, its all we know. we're not gonna find the definition of beauty in a book. DeNiro isn't rly a good looking..u know. His not a david beckham or a brad pitt. Its just theres not much physical attraction. ASian men are the most racist to the blacks, only 9000 asianmen/blackwomen marriages in the U.S
