The democratic senators (Dixiecrats) who mark is referring to, switch parties because of this bill. LBJ told Dr. King and Ralph Abernathy that, " the Rep. party would come after civil rights from this point on."

I was really disgusted by the people who attacked Sarah Palin for her hobbies and her personal life. I think that we already had a president who hunted regularly, had a large family, and was a governor of a state before he became president. His name was Teddy Roosevelt, and his face is now on Mount Rushmore. While I don't necessarily agree with all of the political ideals he supported, I can say that the man did admirable things for his country, and he is admired by many Americans.

Look up "Dixiecrat," please, before you claim that liberals obstructed civil rights and abolition. The Civil Rights Act is what made so many Democrats switch to the Republican party. That and the New Deal created the modern parties, with the Democrats being socially liberal and applying Keynesian economic principles.
