@moonlitcello It may be twisted and dark when it comes to the other angels and what the Winchesters' destinies are, but if you think about it with just Castiel, I think that's what Mary really meant, that they would have a guardian angel watching over them because one little angel took the plunge with them and stuck around for the long haul. Part of me wonders if Mary knew that her boys would really have an angel watching over them and be willing to risk so much. :)
