  • LOL, FIBER GLASS JERKY. YUM.

  • 8:37 wow when he gets up he says "aw shit"

  • @werewasyo he said "ah shoot" or at least that's what it sounds like to me

  • oh my god, I love W

  • I gotta try this some time.

  • alton brown, you magnificent bastard, i read your book!

  • Alton Brown is the Einstein of Food.

  • o no he didn't

    he ate slightly raw meat?!?

  • @PainfulTaco The marinade was acidic enough to "cook" the meat.

  • Actually, if you read his first book, you will find that Alton Brown is the Julia Child, Mr. Wizard, and Monty Python (combined) of food.

  • I like the show, but it seems like there's a little too much filler for me. I dunno, just my opinion. Anyone have a recipe version of this so I can actually try it?

  • @NecroStudios most of the good eats recipes are on the food network site.

  • Hell Alton Brown is just awesome.

  • Can I use the filters over and over?

  • @NobbyKNobbs I think I will just string and hang the meat strips in my refridgerator. Costs less than his quick dry method.

  • ACE Hardware has 12-packs for about $28

  • 4:53

    *gasp* i want one!!!

  • I highly recommend giving this a try. My jerky came out great... I didn't make my own liquid smoke though :- /

  • @Danzerfaust Meh, the store bought stuff is smokey enough. And yes, this jerky is DEE LISH US.

  • @Tokorai you replying to this makes me want to make more... even though I have a dehydrator now :V

  • damnit now im hungry

  • @gongeuzler I know at walmart you can get some cheapos for like 2 bucks

  • whats the best wood to use for making the liquid smoke?

  • @MrScottKramer mesquite or hickory. i prefer mesquite

  • he just eat uncooked meat. thats nasty.

  • @MrScottKramer I would guess that he spat it out off-screen :)

  • @MrScottKramer It's been cured. It's fine ;)

  • @MrScottKramer it was cured

  • Fap.

  • Alton Brown is the Bill Nye of food

  • so would the air filters be reusable afterward or would you even want to reuse them for more jerky? I would think a $40 food dehydrator would be best if you make jerky alot.

  • @Levitikai Kinda depends on the type of jerky. Really thinnly cut crispy jerky is great in the food dehydrator but marinated jerky might be in danger because of the sugar in the marinade. I tried making some terkyaki jerky with a dehydrator and it carmalized and became impossible to eat. So I got hte box fan but I just lay the racks on top of it and it works great. Having a ceiling fan in the room helps too.

  • He always makes me think of bill nye.

  • any one know how well the filters work? like how many, want kind and all that? i know some people had some problems with the fruit episode

  • Dried Parsley.. sure

  • He's like the McGuyver of the culinary world!!!

  • The Jerky stew at the end was compelling, I've never used jerked meet as a re-hydrated course, but I have to say, to have all those fresh ingredients while camping...you might as well take a real steak with you.

  • All he needs is "a desert in a box." I wonder if W's box is like a desert?

  • want better jerky? use buffalo.

I am going to do this this week - Alton Brown is a god.

  • Those filters cost 3 to 9 dollars.

  • @sluggo06 Yes, they do, if you actually get the cotton ones, which are much better for you. You can get the fiberglass ones for cheaper, if you really want to.

  • OHMYGAH that jerky stew with biscuits looks DIVINE.

  • is it just me or is W hot as hell???? i mean it might just be the jerky talking but i think she is............

  • @TheRiksamp i'd pee in her butt...

  • is it just me or is W hot as hell???? i mean it might just be the jerky talking but i think she is..........

  • "while my jerky gently steeps", a reference to the beatle's "while my guitar gently weeps"

  • Oh my my my would you just look that Meaty lava flow of love!

  • Outstanding video!

  • How do you know when the meat is fully dehydrated??

  • can you reuse the filters for jerky again

  • @loganwilson11 if there not destroyed

  • he comes up with the most subtle ideas that are so perfect. like putting the bag in the pitcher before pouring liquids in! why didnt i think of that!?

  • W IS HOT!

  • I wanna high-five Alton Brown

  • A bazaar? How bizarre!

  • ITS ALL FLOPPY AND SHIT

  • ew he ate raw meat.

  • @bluemoonseller wrong. He denatured it and put it in a microbrine with the lemon juice/honey and salt/soy sauce.

  • wait, did he just eat raw meat at the begining? lol

  • @Quiet0wing The reason its risky to eat raw meat is b/c of bacteria living on the meat. Cooking temperatures and times of meats are based on what it takes to elimiate the type of the bacteria.

After the meat sits in the marinade for that long it is too acidic for any bacteria to survive so there is no need to cook it... not for saftey reasons anyway.

  • what? I'm going to have to try that out with store bought jerky.

  • Wow. That was one cool video. We ( my boyfriend and I ) love watching his shows. I have to try it. I can't wait to see how it tastes like :) .

  • Alton Brown lives down the road from me...

  • tell him i said hi

  • Alton Brown is the Bob Ross of food.

  • @DieselGrunge paints a happy little tree huh?

  • @DieselGrunge he can create a 10-course meal based around pineapple, using only saltine crackers, garrum, and no pineapple.

  • @DieselGrunge Simply the best description of AB

  • Now I'm all hungry ^^ Thanks for the video! My favourite tv programme along with my favourite food.

  • the floppy jerky looks so good!

  • I Dream of Jeannie parody. How adorable.

  • im eatin jerky right now : )

  • i just finished mine. . . :(

  • problem- fibers from the filter stick to the meat after it dries. not sure what i'd be eating along with the meat.

  • not sure that would make it through the FDA...

but don't quote me on it

    ;)

  • Comment removed
