That is the dumbest rule ever because the ball carrier is not gonna stop just because his helmet comes off and the defense is not gonna give up on the play either. The rule is not reducing the injuries but its reducing the excitement of the game.

There should be a rule made for these rare occurances. If you watch the slow motion replay, #38 rips the helmet off. That should have been an automatic first down for removing the helmet off the other player.
