Its fun to watch, but I dont think it will work in a frictionless environment. The reason it attains motion is because it accelerates a mass slowly in one direction and quickly in another. So the forces in one direction are less than the friction force therefore it doesnt move while in the other direction the forces exceeded the friction force and it slides.
The inventor GBS Manian writes. This machine works on a mechanical principle only. The jolting and side walking is due to a intermittent loosening of a gear wheel from its shaft. I am working on an improved version and will be releasing soon. Also watch key words PROPELLANTLESS PROPULSION, REACTIONLESS DRIVE, CENTRIFUGAL MASS DRIVE etc for interest.

It is a very good 101 basics must-read!
