The Beret should be eliminated, its the most stupid "cover" ever devised. A Beret does not provide protection from, wind, rain, or sun. It is the "cover" preferred by troops trained in surrendering like French and British troops. Men do not wear Berets. The Marine Joint Chief threatened to resign if Marines were forced to wear these.

In the Air Force, very few units wear the beret. The rest of us wear our BDU field caps.

It's not something to really worry about, those of you who haven't jet joined. You will be briefed on uniform standards during your basic.

I don't understand how you could just simply pull the dog tag off by blunt force because those connectors on the string takes a lot of force to break, or do you use the easier way by sliding the string out from the open gap on the connector.

It's not. A lot of people get this confused. You have to count the number of solid chevrons, which would be 3 in the case of the rank device on Sgt. Volkin's boonie hat.

They're all the same. Except some people will have red ones because they're allergic to something like penicillin. Also some dog tags might have notches in them. Most people in the Marine Corps wear the second one in the laces in one of their boots. Usually always you will never see anyone wearing dog tags on flight lines.

You can't really recognize rank from the range a sniper would be at, even if he had a high mag scope. The rank devices are designed so you have to be like less than 8 paces away to recognize it (since if it's an officer, you salute when 6 paces away).
