Wow, sounds like how music is today, can't believe these girls ever got signed, the drums are way off beat with the guitar, they must have been on some serious drugs, so were the people who listened to this or recorded it...I don't take drugs and after listening to this, I felt like I just did....
@ShaolinDragon9 they didn't actually get signed. Their father brought some money to some studio and they made...this...music? They guy recording tried to tell the father it was crap but the father insisted her take his money and record regardless. Wiki them and you'll read up on their most odd story.
this song has one of my favorite guitar solos of all time... i've cried listening to it before (even though it's just a guitar's replica of the verse melody) because there is just something so achy-breaky heart about it!
This is the kind of music that practitioners of "free jazz" are trying to achieve, total freedom from the boundaries of their technical training. For the Shaggs that is not an issue, since they only had the bare minimum of training needed to play their instruments. This is what Captain Beefheart always wanted to sound like but couldn't, except maybe on Trout Mask.
But...........what are you doing? Where is the metronome, and where are the cymbals and the drummers left hand? Yes..........I'm really glad you had the courage to go over the musical threshold. Love you!!! Check up THE ZETTLERS and their versions of "Skinnie minnie and "Beautiful Delilah". And check up the intro - it´s in 7/4 - not bad because the recordings were made 1965. Irresistible good!
Don't you people get it? They are the pioneers in a type of experimental music so advanced, no human being will be able to comprehend with our current primitive brains...
Nah, this is just the musical equivalent of spoken gibberish.
I don't know what to think of this band, I like their music and hate it simultaneously. It's so innocently done, as if they have no idea how terrible and beautiful it sounds. You can really tell they were doing everything in their power to please their father despite having no idea what they were doing. I'm not even sure whether they were fans of music in the first place, let alone were able to comprehend how to play it. It's definitely unique in terms of popular music.
Their music is falling apart at the tail end of a möbius strip. Brilliant.

From 1:22 to 1:26 the drums and the guitar meet in rythm so nicely... I think it's the only place in the entire song.
