U can't vs the pre to the iPhone 3g that's about a year old technology for the iPhone..get the iPhone 3gs then it would b fair because the palm pre and iPhone 3gs came out about the same time..

the g1 dosent close all the tabs i have one and and iphone + storm i was thinking about the pre but it dies too fast g1 for nice qwerty iphone for games and storm for the unmatchable email service

This video is comparing the 2009 model of the Pre against the 2008 models from T-Mobile and Apple. The Pre is coming with a new generation of ARM CPUs that will also be included in a lot of other smartphones this year. Once the new iPhone is released next week with twice the RAM and CPU speed we will most likely see that the iPhone takes back the perfomance crown. Even the 2008 iPhone will see a boost through a OS upgrade that is scheduled for 17 Jun.

People need to understand that the Iphone is 90% a media phone, thats its sole cause. The Pre is a TRUE smartphone that just happens to do everything else well. Two different phones, two different causes. But from owning an iphone which i no longer have, I'll take a smartphone with media capabilities any day over an iphone.

The pres screen is so tiny compared to the iphones, I would never be able to use such a tiny screen for webbrowsing and multitouch. I´m a pre owner, and trust me if you are considiring the pre, think twice, because its really annoying to just have 8 gigs of storage, and it doesn´t feel like a high quality product (feels to plasticy). Next phone for me is the next iphone.

there's no such thing as an iPhone killer. iPhone revolutionized the market. the iphone will not die. iPhone killer is a stupid concept. This phone is clearly better than the current iPhone. If you weren't such a fragile fanboy you'd see it. I'm an iPhone user and I used the pre at best buy and the the pre is way better than the iPhone. On top of all that it has a real keyboard.

Palm doesn't have the media shedding a single tear each time they do something. Apple's a media darling and every move they make is covered. They also have genius marketing something Palm can't afford. You wont see lines for the Pre because you haven't even seen on commercial dedicated exclusively to the pre. There hasnt been a massive media blitz. You know what there has been? A TON OF GLOWING REVIEWS AND CRITICAL ACCLAIM.

First off I don't own an iPhone, and I am not a fanboy I don't see the point in getting emotionally attached to a software/hardware company. Also, at the D7 conference Palm said themselves "the Pre eats iPhones for breakfast" (sounds like they're touting it as an iPhone killer to me). Secondly my original statement just said "i like how it takes him more than once to touch on the screen to open an app" because this isn't the first video I've seen of it and it always has that problem.

like i said, there's no such thing as an iPhone killer. the thought of a phone coming along and making the iPhone obsolete is ridiculous. my only point is that there are better phones and the pre is one of them. i personally used it and the screen was more responsive than the glass on the iPhone and the ripple effect provided great haptic feedback. im not emotionally attached to any device i just prefer it people not bring up baseless claims against anything really.

yo you forgot the touch pro1 or 2 in ur little test...so i did my own test using the touch pro with skyfire web broswer (because it goes to real websites like the pre & iphone) and using wifi and guess what? it can keep up with the pre and always was faster than the iphone and g1. HA!

Your stats are wrong. As of today there are 9,000 games and 39,000 other apps available in the iPhone store. So just 20 % are games, 80 % other things.

Admittedly the pre does look awesome and absolutely is the first real competition for the iPhone (and is actually better than the iPhone in a lot ways) but for a one-year old phone, the iPhone stacks up very well against a brand new product. I'd like to see this comparison with the new iPhone when it's released

Actually, the iPhone does keep background tabs open as long as it can. However, when memory runs low MobileSafari closes all tabs but the active one. Hopefully Apple will add more memory to the rumored new iPhone.
