  • solehanded2 only a fuckin bluenose who knows sod all about football or sucess could make a comment like that, you assholes will rot in division one and no doubt youll be in administration again in 5 years ,tinky bastards

  • such an emotional night, and still effects me now watching it back. I was a 12 year old boy there that night in my usual spot in the 'seggy' (just left of the camera position). If i was a year older, i would have been a ball boy that night, year above me at my school got that honour.

so near, yet so far. ever to be repeated? doubt it.....

  • Cheered the Swedes to victory that night!!

Only a f**king DAB could celebrate geating beat. real fans are crying into their beer - but not DAB's, oh no, they're celebtrating!!!

Losers are just that - losers.

  • They did not get beat - they drew!?

They did not win the game but they won respect - FIFA respect - we could do with that right now. A bigger award from FIFA and not just for Fair Play. Football is football - it is about losing as well as winning - and doing both with pride.

  • @negba

  • @discodivastu

Quality reply -- provided one handed, no doubt.

  • This was the saddest and proudest day in our clubs history. A group of players on not much more than a working mans wage, the sportsmanship and humility. These were the things to be proud of. The modern game has much to offer by way of entertainment and spectacle, but at what cost? It has become a corporate citadel where mediocre players command fortunes, megga stars writhe in agony at every opportunity. While the great unwashed sit in front of the Sky+ in isolation from our past glories.

  • i was only six and remember this as the 1st game i ever saw so being from glasgow i could never support rangers or celtic my heart lay with united . always looked for there results i used like jerren nixon badger mckinley and big Dunc. Thanx to robbie winters for gettin me tix for countless games to. dont go anymore but will still wish yous all the best

  • classic made me cry dont know why, united forever. i was there only a kid so proud though. we stayed to show how much the run had meant. win or lose. i'll never forget beating barcelona

  • Football is so much about passion! Passion is the thing that we just accept without thought - always there - never explained and sometimes never obvious. It is our football - our game!

  • Football is more than Football. Its as complicated as men. Its connection. Its expression - between men and for men. Its sadness and joy. Its passion and our shadows. Its the sharp turn, the precise pass and the clean tackle - sometimes. Its often frustrating, sadness and tears.

  • I think all my heart and mind went into this film - it still moves me now. I would have loved to have made films that matter to people but was not let - allowed to.

  • I have watched this a few times now and my mates agree there is something ghostly about this it makes the spine tingle, it realy is a great video mate.

  • ...I agree! I can't put it into words. Perhaps its the lack of crowd sound. I think just the sound of the flags and the sound of the natural sounds without the crowd with the music - would make it even more ghostly. When I was filming it - I knew I was filming something special - maybe it is that - the connection between the fan, photographer and the event - with just the passion of football telling the story.

  • Adagio for Strings may be heard on many film, TV and video game soundtracks. Notable among these is Oliver Stone's Oscar-winning film Platoon,[5] and David Lynch's 1980 Oscar-nominated film The Elephant Man. It is also used in several episodes of The Simpsons in scenes lampooning sadness and destruction.

  • Likewise, it was used in a similar manner in an episode of Seinfeld in which Frank Costanza reflects on when he served in the Army as a cook in Korea, making the soldiers sick from his food, in a parody of the emotional portrayal of devastation in Platoon.

  • It is also heard in The Pick of Destiny when Kyle gives Jack a guitar, in Lorenzo's Oil, and in the landmark PC - RTS game Homeworld. Prominent in the film Amelie where it is used to devastating effect. It is used as opening music in the film version of Kafka's The Trial.

  • .....think it says everything about passion and Fair Play - Drogba take note!

  • 1 team in Dundee and it's not Dundee United

  • One team in the SPL, right enough

  • If you were at this game please join my group at "Were you at the UEFA Cup Final 1987 group?" on Facebook. Lets try and get a collective memory of the game and this important day for both Dundee United and IFK Goteborg. Even better if you were a player add you momories. All supporters and views welcome.

  • ...even if you just watched it on TV or you have heard stories about the game I would love to hear from you - and from Goteborg fans.

  • Another excellent vid from Mr. Duncan

  • thanks!
