omg finally a real album......Beatles are my Fav band by far no offence......but with this new cars album i might have to change that soon. I WILL BE GOING TO SEE THEM LIVE thanks so much for this we needed this. So much trash on the radio these people need to take a note. OMG im freaking out i thought the 80's were dead......i love you cars !!!!!
Whoever is stating that The Cars are disco wasnt around in the 70's.
Whoever was, unfortunately, around to hear disco would not even argue that The Cars are, were or ever will be considered disco. Disco was a completely different style of music that had NO lead guitar licks and as a matter fact most disco songs didn't even use guitars or drums (all synthesizer keyboards), so leave my Rockin Cars alone and go and make those statements about KC and the sunshine band :-) LOL ((The Cars Rock!))
@JesusFreakJene Actually, I was around in the 70's. I didn't say they were disco, I said Let's Go sounds like a disco song. I came out at the end of the disco period and has a disco sound to it. It's a crappy song. It's not like the rest of their songs.
@jrock2264 Do you have all of their albums, including their unreleased songs, as well as, all of their solo work?
I must completely disagree with you (and that is what is great about music, it is not one size fits all). I love "Lets Go" and all of their other songs, too. I am a 100% fan of The Cars. I grew up in the 80's and was a big music lover of all types of music, but in 2011, after the dust has settled, The Cars are #1 (How can you just have one favorite album of The Cars?)
@jrock2264 you don't know what your talking about, Lets go does not sound like a disco song, and no different then the others. If anything it destroyed disco, listen to the guitar rock in the back ground, the other thing you hear is keyboards.
@THECARS7879 I completely agree with you :-) I believe lots of people think they are pop, because they were played to death on the radio in the "80's", but if those same people would listen to all of their Cd's they would find that The Cars are Rock. Elliot Easton is a master of playing lead guitar licks in their songs and you really dont realize that he is playing a Rock lick, because he plays so clean, smooth and uses just the right guitar for the song style. RRHOF bound!
@JesusFreakJene yeah they certainly aren't because they get played on the Classic Rock Station in New York over here, even when WNEW used to do classic rock they played the CARS next to Kiss , the Doors, Led Zeppelin and Motley Crue. That's who they belong with. The CARS are going into the Rock N Roll Hall of Fame soon!
@JesusFreakJene Yes i think it is too. It all makes sense, Blue tip , sad song, the whole album maybe in reference to Benjamin Orr. And the album cover is unlike all the rest of their albums too.
i hate to say this , but the old cars was better. their the same people , but they have lost it. all of their old songs like touch and go and just what i needed and such are way better. they have lost it.
@wiiman250 i ll love the cars always. but. i think their 80s style was better. and being that they were part of the classic rock era. i thought they would stick with that.
This may not be the best Cars record, but it is probably the most consistent set of songs they've put together since the debut. And as for sounding thin, I disagree. Jacknife Lee does a GREAT job of pulling out the band's glam and bubblegum pop sensibilites while making an album that is both timely and timeless. It's really a stunning achivement that will no doubt be overlooked by radio and most of the media. Fuck 'em.
@J0LEIGH Good, I hope it's cool, then maybe all the kids will stop buying all this new shitmusic that the record companies are putting out now, and we'll get some new good stuff instead!
I'm a really big Cars fan and I really want to love this CD but it seems a little thin to me. Not having Ben is probably the missing piece. :( R.I.P. Ben
Don't want to rag on the Cars but their first album was their best, hands down. They kind of went down hill after that. I mean, they were still good, but they never topped their first. And "Let's Go" is a terrible disco song...never liked it.
@THECARS7879 Listen, Let's Go had disco overtones...it was not like the rest of their music. Was it a "disco' song? Maybe not, but it was influenced by the disco sound. Sorry, it's just not one of their better tunes. And virtually everybody will agree that thier first album was thier best.

This is boring, uncreative, and unmemorable compared to their old stuff. I think I'll pass on buying the new record.
