Property taxes were originally designed to pay for public schools. However people wanted less taxes and more perks. UC Berkeley, for being such a "high end" school, is legitimately full of a bunch of idiots. These are the type of people that expect handouts. Glad to see my generation has soooo much potential...

That is the hypocrisy of the left. All I can say is that liberalism is a mental disorder. They will protest the raising of tuition rates but not all the other liberal policies and spending programs that lead to this mess. These same liberals have supported Obama, but when Obama becomes a dictator and starts telling them which cars to drive and which light bulbs they need to use, they will have protests again because things are not going their way.
