You know, when Whitney did that special with Diane on ABC in 2001, I remember the pain in her face when she was asked why she looked bad at MJ's tribute...I have to say she killed it vocally, but was very thin. She replied that Aaliyah had just passed and that she wasnt eating...I didnt believe that back then so so much, but I can still see the same pain in her face when Aaliyah was brought up, so I think that she was really down about her passing...I still havent gotten over it actually.

@jeezlouize1 Yes Aaliyah was originally cast as Honey, though the role was later recast to Jessica Alba due to Aaliyah's death. R.I.P Aaliyah January 16Th, 1979 - August 25Th, 2001.

@jeezlouize1 I guess Aaliyah was enigmatic, and that mystique was an essential part of her appeal. There was always a sense of her layers being revealed from one project to the next. Like the shedding of skin, or the gradual opening of a curtain. Each album and movie role gave us a glimpse into her personality and essence.

@jeezlouize1 Yeah Aaliyah's acting career was on the rise, but after she played the lead in Queen Of The Damned it concerned me. She was talking about how much she was attracted to the darkness. That was strange to me. But she was definitely up for some good roles, including the Matrix sequel which she was gonna do before Sparkle. I don't know for sure about Honey, but the role that Jessica Alba played was taylor made for Aaliyah.

A friend posted a pic of Whitney on the set of sparkle with the 1960s wig and little makeup on. She looked so different but extremely cute. She really is a beautiful woman, even at 48 years old. No wonder she started out as a model! I wish this lady all the best. My all-time favorite performer, male or female.

@Jeffrizel1986 She's had her eyes done... raised them and they're now much slimmer. her false upper teeth have also changed the shape and appearance of her mouth (and now also prevent her from being able to properly pronounce the letter 's'). She also weighs a bit more now than she did several years ago. all these things combined I think leave her with a noticeably different appearance
