dont get me wrong these are good tutorials but havnt u noticed after everyday dave wears a top the next day the other kid wears the same top dave woar
If you don't have the space for a 49key controller, I would recommand the Behringer UMX250 U-control midi-controller. Cheap, € 85, reliable German engineering and shiny flashy red
From person experience, GET MORE THAN 25 KEYS on your midi!
I have the MAudio Axiom 25 key, and its a GREAT controller, but you run out of keys very quickly. I suggest you get a minimum of 49 keys no matter what.
Can anyone help on how to make tutorials? I have the screen capture software, but how do I get it record my mic, and the audio coming from abelton (my DAW)? On windows with hypercam if that helps? Thanks
Any thoughts on the Korg Microkey? (bend wheel, mod wheel and 3 octave range. All for a bit less then 100 euro's (86-98 depending on shipping/where you get it/discount offers ect)
@m0dus Jordan rudess uses it for controll of his personal ipad work at home.
Even tough a bit endorsed... he is like 50 or something and he has been doing music education since he was 9... i find your statement slightly doubtfull.
@LeapingDodo Sorry, I mis understood the controller you were referring to. I was referring to something different. Despite that, no need to be a prick.
Hey hov hey! Maybe you can help me! I'm on protools and have an akai mpk49, and I just cannot seem to get those two babies to work together. Found a lot of somewhat useless tutorials on this subject. Could you perhaps drop some knowledge on this touchy subject?
Good videos. I have been following this series. I have an M Audio Midi Keyboard Oxygen V2 which is good. Its only got two octaves but thats because I dont have the space in my room.
Is there anything out there which is light and portable and not too big which can play 49 keys? I was thinking of something that could fold up or double on top if such a device existed. I wish I could pack a whole recording system in one small bag. Ultrabook small soundcard small midi keyboard and mic.
To people new to midi instruments and don't want to invest huge amounts to learn.. check out the Korg Nano Series (equalizer, pads, keys). They are great to learn on, small, and if you end up not liking their style, its not like you've lost that much money.
@C0LDWiR3 I've got one. Works wonderful for me and for the price, the functionality and quality are sufficient. So far, no problems with it (1 whole year of pretty extensive usage). I sincerely recommend it :) Same goes for LPK25. Pretty solid hardware.
Novation SL Mk2! (the one with flashing lights) is really good too by the way! Weighted keys, automap, pads, faders, knobs, EVERYTHING! Apart from a gun :(
Are there any cheap pads you'd recommend for percussion? Already have the oxygen 49 but it doesn't have proper pads :( Great midi controller all the same though :D
@rustedpieces I find that Akai products at a low budget offer great functionality. But if you want ultimate bang for your buck.. Korg has their Nano series... which has a controller just for pads..
@KronixBeats So you'd feel happy when you realised you're getting things cheaper than you expected! Nothing to do with the prices changing in the month-or-so since I recorded all this.
@brekk9 If this guide wasn't about absolute beginners on a budget, I'd suggest it. Hell, I'd suggest getting a jacuzzi with a MIDI out if you've got the money.
