  • dont get me wrong these are good tutorials but havnt u noticed after everyday dave wears a top the next day the other kid wears the same top dave woar

  • Where do i buy all this equiment online? (has to ship to australia)

    Thanks :)

  • akai pro mpk mini FTW

  • flashy light are really important

  • akai lpk cheapest int market £39

  • Put a 303 on your budget! So we can have a lot of new acid producers =)

  • why do you guys keep exchanging shirts?

  • the kazoo looks like a pipe :P

  • i bought my m-audio oxygen v2 over e-bay for 40 pounds....work perfectly! Much easier to make a melody!

  • i think you would look much better with shorter hair....

  • You recorded this a month ago?

  • where can i get that shirt!?

  • I have the M-Audio Oxygen 49 and I highly recommend it :D

  • There are also 88 key hammer weighted midi controllers like The Fatar Numa-Nero and the Doepfer LMK4+

  • If you don't have the space for a 49key controller, I would recommand the Behringer UMX250 U-control midi-controller. Cheap, € 85, reliable German engineering and shiny flashy red

  • Im sitting on the internet all day, 'cose i'm waiting for the next part!! cant wait!

  • I reckon Kieran gets SO MUCH pussy.... (no homo)

  • @Magnifikate i bet he has cats at home to make your statement funny.

  • From person experience, GET MORE THAN 25 KEYS on your midi!

I have the MAudio Axiom 25 key, and its a GREAT controller, but you run out of keys very quickly. I suggest you get a minimum of 49 keys no matter what.

But, thats just my opinion :D

  • I called the shirt swap!

  • akai mpk49 good not good?

  • Thought MIDI bodysuit was BS till I googled it >.>

  • can you stop switching shirts. It's confusing me

  • Can anyone help on how to make tutorials? I have the screen capture software, but how do I get it record my mic, and the audio coming from abelton (my DAW)? On windows with hypercam if that helps? Thanks

  • Do you have any opinion about th Roland A-500s? I've been thinking of buying one. The keys feel very good for the price.

  • Woo Yeah!

  • Any thoughts on the Korg Microkey? (bend wheel, mod wheel and 3 octave range. All for a bit less then 100 euro's (86-98 depending on shipping/where you get it/discount offers ect)

Also i subbed for this series!

Also i play the kazoo and guitar too :D

  • @LeapingDodo I bought the Nano keys... great series for beginners... but they lack a lot for a person who knows what they are doing

  • @m0dus Jordan rudess uses it for controll of his personal ipad work at home.

Even tough a bit endorsed... he is like 50 or something and he has been doing music education since he was 9... i find your statement slightly doubtfull.

  • @LeapingDodo Sorry, I mis understood the controller you were referring to. I was referring to something different. Despite that, no need to be a prick.

  • @m0dus sorry, i did not intent to be a prick. i just really find your previous statement doubtfull. no sarcasm or anything whatsoever.

  • No day 5 outtakes? That's the only reason I'm watching...!

  • Akai MPK Mini such a good low-budget controller. I have this controller only. But I really like to work with it. It's great for beginners like me.

  • Kieran is anoyying me now!

  • Hey hov hey! Maybe you can help me! I'm on protools and have an akai mpk49, and I just cannot seem to get those two babies to work together. Found a lot of somewhat useless tutorials on this subject. Could you perhaps drop some knowledge on this touchy subject?

  • How am I supposed to get to Azerbaijan now????

  • Are the shirts just being passed from dave to keiren? :P

  • sorry for my bad english(i am still learning :P) but is the AKAI - MPK Mini good to start with ????

  • @Probsharrys your english looks fine to me

  • Hah, I have a M-Audio Oxygen 8 and the Maschine Mikro <3 best kits.

  • I have a question.. are prodipe keyboard MIDI controllers good?

  • Good videos. I have been following this series. I have an M Audio Midi Keyboard Oxygen V2 which is good. Its only got two octaves but thats because I dont have the space in my room.

Is there anything out there which is light and portable and not too big which can play 49 keys? I was thinking of something that could fold up or double on top if such a device existed. I wish I could pack a whole recording system in one small bag. Ultrabook small soundcard small midi keyboard and mic.

  • @Stevethesearcher if you're looking for a small soundcard the echo audio fire 2 is a great little gem - AMAZING sound.

  • To people new to midi instruments and don't want to invest huge amounts to learn.. check out the Korg Nano Series (equalizer, pads, keys). They are great to learn on, small, and if you end up not liking their style, its not like you've lost that much money.

  • Do you two just....share t-shirts, or something?

  • Like a Ninja !! xD

  • Im thinking about getting the akai mpk25

  • @C0LDWiR3 I've got one. Works wonderful for me and for the price, the functionality and quality are sufficient. So far, no problems with it (1 whole year of pretty extensive usage). I sincerely recommend it :) Same goes for LPK25. Pretty solid hardware.

  • Novation SL Mk2! (the one with flashing lights) is really good too by the way! Weighted keys, automap, pads, faders, knobs, EVERYTHING! Apart from a gun :(

  • What Sound Card do you advice me to buy? Around $150-180?

  • You should have suggested keyboards with weighted keys for those serious about their piano music.

  • What ever budget is left at the end should go towards buying your t-shirts! Loving the "drop" t-shirt!

  • @wwwboyinabandcom I know it's only a day away, but will the AKG k-121 studio headphones (the ones I have) be in your video tomorrow?

  • ciaran seems to wear the t-shirt dave wore the day before! and he didnt say biab.com just biab!! :O

  • Are there any cheap pads you'd recommend for percussion? Already have the oxygen 49 but it doesn't have proper pads :( Great midi controller all the same though :D

  • @rustedpieces I've only tried out the Akai MPC and MPD, both of which are good :)

  • @wwwboyinabandcom Thanks for the reply Dave! The MPD is exactly what I'm looking for :)

  • @wwwboyinabandcom but akai mpc is very expensive

  • @rustedpieces I find that Akai products at a low budget offer great functionality. But if you want ultimate bang for your buck.. Korg has their Nano series... which has a controller just for pads..

  • @rustedpieces I use maschine (maschine mikro) as a standalone and logic to master i love it.

  • KORG PADKONTOL!!!!!@rustedpieces

  • @rustedpieces Try the Nano-Pad, it's pretty simple, but only about £30-40 and definitely worth it!

  • @rustedpieces I'd recommend the Korg padKontrol, I have an MPD32 and i prefer the padKontrol's pads.

  • @rustedpieces

Korg Pad Control also is an option! :)

  • Lol just bought an Oxygen 49 like 3 days ago

  • oxygen is £98

    Keyrig is £71...

    Why u lie!??

  • @KronixBeats So you'd feel happy when you realised you're getting things cheaper than you expected! Nothing to do with the prices changing in the month-or-so since I recorded all this.

  • @wwwboyinabandcom HAHA indeed :) awesome tips n help dude, considering the oxygen 49

  • I have Novation Remote SL25, is the MK2 version of this controller better? Or Novation added some flashy lights there only?

  • Midi devices input data not sound tut tut Dave! i am dissapoint!

  • dont know why i watch this. been in this game 4 so long... Good Presentation maybee

  • I started off with a Akai LPK25 labtop keyboard, I recently started to use a KeyRig 49.

The next one I get will be the Oxygen 49 for sure, thanks!

  • 0:24 Ableton <3

  • Why not just get a synthesizer with a MIDI out?

  • @brekk9 Why not most likely save money and just get a MIDI controller?

  • @Catrionaify Why not just buy a classic synthesizer from Ebay for around 20 Euros?

  • @brekk9 because plug-ins are illegally free

  • @brekk9 If this guide wasn't about absolute beginners on a budget, I'd suggest it. Hell, I'd suggest getting a jacuzzi with a MIDI out if you've got the money.

  • 2 more days wohoo :D

  • I'm from Brazil ... And I do not understand anything, But i like this :P

  • loving how your shirts are always boyinaband :D
