I believe this is JR's first extramarital "excursion" in his second marriage to Sue Ellen. When it came in syndication I counted 5 episodes from the wedding to this scene.
@agrotis79 they went their separate ways after this season. Holly tried like hell to get JR out of her company, so she thought having Sue Ellen catch them in bed together would do the trick. Unfortunately, it made things worse between JR and Sue Ellen. She started drinking again and continued to drink into the following season.
"I run you too." Perfect JR line. The writers did a great job of making it clear that JR is doing this to show Holly who's really in charge, not just for his personal pleasure.
Don't be too hard on the guy. The actors themselves saw Dallas as farce comedy, but played deadly serious. It doesn't take away it's status as one of the greatest tv series ever.

Loved this scene. I first saw it when I was thirteen, but after that, I understood that JR basically told Holly Harwood he was in charge.
