  • is that John Walsh?

  • Hey nice show of Aerolux, the orange colour is produced by neon gas, it was mentioned about filaments, these rely on ionisation or space charge (Edison Effect) no filament just gas and a tiny trace of mercury. They do not last forever as during usage they cause the metal electrodes to slowly become eroded and form as a thin layer on the inside glass thus blackening the bulb. Finest Neon Glow Lamps like the beehive used Swedish iron which lasted a long time, modern Chinese versions SOON darken.

  • Of course, those ARE vintage, not reproductions. 1st is an Aerolux 'aeroplane', neon orange. 2nd is an Aerolux 'Masonic', neon-argon in pink. They mention Star of David and comic characters (which were Mickey Mouse, Donald Duck and Popeye). The white glass base may or may not be an Aerolux base. The Santa Claus bulb is probably from the 20s. Then is another Aerolux, a "bird & bouquet" or "bird of paradise", made from the 30s into the 60s, here in violet; this is a more common model/color.

  • @JonasClark Typo. Santa Claus bulb is probably from the 40s.
