it's not a hologram, cnn is trying to look futuristic. we don't have the technology to somehow project light into the air and have it just stop wherever we want it. this "hologram" was a lame gimick, they put him infront of a green screen somewhere else and moved the cameras in sync with the ones in the cnn studio. the one part that gets me is the special effects they put on him, (bluish, flickering, low framerate), all of that is just to make it look cool.
