Amazing... Very Nice man.. You prduce a good music... Just one thing... Your body laguege.. Make moves with your body... (Put feelings and Show that you are enjoying what you are playing.)
How did you learn to be so good at jazz improvisation? I've always wanted to be able to play like that. I'm also a clarinetist who's in love with jazz.
I'm trying to start playing jazz clarinet (only 7th grade) but, even though there was a jazz band, my band director wouldn't let me join, because apparently the only instruments that can play jazz are trumpets and saxophones. Oh well. Hopefully one day he'll see the beauty in jazz clarinet :D Oh, right, this is supposed to be about the VIDEO...amazing playing! Beautiful tone...such talent. Good luck! Hope to hear you OUTSIDE of Youtube videos someday!!
@spock98231 The same thing happened to me, Ive been playing since 7th grade and am in love with jazz and our director wont allow clarinets either. They need to hear stuff like this! It's amazing!
@spock98231 Ouch, Im 7th grade too and play clarinet too :) I got into the option time Jazz band(I felt like joining the Jazz band many times in grade 5&6, but was unsure. I feel sorry for you, why can't he let you in! The only problem in my Jazz band is that I have to go play Trumpet Music because there were only 2 Clarinets (including me) who signed up, and the other guy ditched and changed options LOL. I think there will be Clarinet officially in later grades :)
Have you taken any improv classes, because that is some... wonderful improving. I saw your weber video as well. You are an all around great player. Are you in college or... have a degree or what? Any tips for good improving too? Im taking some classes in college just new to the stuff. As for music in general its my major so I have the skills necessary, I just feel like I suck right now hah. But seriously, that's pretty good
My highschool band directer just started a jazz band, but he isn't letting clarinets or flutes join!!!! I've been so furious about it because they are both KILLER jazz instruments and everyone in my band thinks they're not because of my band directer!
Voggorb, although you said you were now playing classical music, I think you could really do something here in America playing Jazz...........the time is right for a young guy with your talent and sound! It just takes a little persistance and the right person hearing it once that could change your life forever!!! Also, take your video to an experience music engineer and editor and you wouldn't believe the magic they can do! Great stuff my friend!
This is beautiful! i know nothing, N-O-T-H-I-N-G about jazz music but i know someone who plays the jazz clarinet. @voggorb yeh I know. I'm from Sydney and most of the jazz clarinetists here are either men in their 70s playing trad jazz (which is fine in moderation) or young classical musicians attempting to play jazz.

i'm so jealous.. i play the clarinet and i absolutely love it.. and i'm pretty good at it too. my band instructor doesn't want clarinets in jazz band so i took up the alto saxophone just for jazz band.. i envy jazz clarinetists. great job by the way! (:
I suggest that you learn jazz on clarinet even if your instructor doesn't want clarinets in jazz band. When you hit college and if you plan on continuing to play, you'll use clarinet there. Trust me. I'm in a college jazz band and we use clarinets and flutes on occasion along with alto flute, bass clarinet and soprano saxophone. :) Best of luck!!
awesome. (: i actually love playing the alto sax as well for jazz too, but i might have to try some jazz clarinet on the side! i give him shit anytime we see jazz clarinet at festivals.
Some bands replace the clarinet with an Alto Saxophone, like my jazz band does. I'm not in it really, but the clarinet players I know have had to transition to Alto. Which is total crap; though the Alto is an icon of Jazz, it simply can't match the sound of a clarinet.
The clarinet was the original jazz instrument and remained the only solo instrument for it besides trumpet from jazz's birth in the late teens to the early 50s.
Very good everything, the only thing that got me was the way the soprano sax guy held it, ur supposed to hold it out in front of you not like a clarinet. Overall Excellent.
yeah becuz you can tell that his sound is kinda off, and the sound isn't projected as well as if he had held the bell out like your supposed to. But with trumpet it is kinda ok becuz you are literally used to hearing it that way when school bands play their concerts or rehearsles. yes or no your call on that one.
well i know a few pro play, that play like that ,coltrane was 1 wach his vids ,stan getz does it in his vid ect, with mics and good stage sound it dosent matter too tough now,i used to play mine like that it was comfy didnt break your arms why do they make bent crooks for straight sops ? lol
It matter HOW you HOLD it. It matters how you PLAY it. But anyways-- it just looks bad, that's all. Professional players who put their soul into playing don't hold it in any particular fashion.
actually it kinda does because the way you hold it projects the sound differently and will make the instrument sound weird, especially for the soprano sax when it is pointed to the floor. your supposed to hold it out in front of you like any others would.
LOVING ur dark tone and precise intonation!!! Thats how i like 2 play my instrument. Cant find many examples of performers playing nice, slow and dark tho:/ evrybody like these fast, up-tempo, 4000 notes per minute players that sound like evrything is nice and cheery outside. The majority of the registers our instrument has tend 2 the dark side in my opinion. Good playing, strive to become better tho cause so will i ;)
I want to start jazz clarinet, but how? What should I do first before I can jazz up?

awesome. (: i actually love playing the alto sax as well for jazz too, but i might have to try some jazz clarinet on the side! i give him shit anytime we see jazz clarinet at festivals.

What? thats stupid. Clarinets sound awesome playing jazz...
I too am a clarinetist who is in love with jazz
But they just dont make music for us...

Hm. You learn something everyday. Thanks for the info. Though with people who don't know that, most associate Jazz with the Alto Sax. : P

dommage que le son ne soit pas très bon...
sinon je trouve la chanson vraiment très très bien et le gars assure à la clarinette!c'est très beau

Very good everything, the only thing that got me was the way the soprano sax guy held it, ur supposed to hold it out in front of you not like a clarinet. Overall Excellent.
CountachRYAN 3 years ago
miles held his trumpet to the floor does it matter and you aint sposed to hold it any particular way
hitmanisback 3 years ago
yeah becuz you can tell that his sound is kinda off, and the sound isn't projected as well as if he had held the bell out like your supposed to. But with trumpet it is kinda ok becuz you are literally used to hearing it that way when school bands play their concerts or rehearsles. yes or no your call on that one.
CountachRYAN 3 years ago
well i know a few pro play, that play like that ,coltrane was 1 wach his vids ,stan getz does it in his vid ect, with mics and good stage sound it dosent matter too tough now,i used to play mine like that it was comfy didnt break your arms why do they make bent crooks for straight sops ? lol
hitmanisback 3 years ago
It matter HOW you HOLD it. It matters how you PLAY it. But anyways-- it just looks bad, that's all. Professional players who put their soul into playing don't hold it in any particular fashion.
Hinatarox1013 3 years ago
I meant to say it DOESN'T MATTER HOW YOU HOLD IT... haha.
Hinatarox1013 3 years ago
actually it kinda does because the way you hold it projects the sound differently and will make the instrument sound weird, especially for the soprano sax when it is pointed to the floor. your supposed to hold it out in front of you like any others would.

Great job - you are playing with inspiration and there are a lot of melodies in your improvisation - thanks for posting!
