  • Been ten years since my clarinet last saw the light of day. Just dug it out this morning. Definitely going to jump back into it.

  • Amazing... Very Nice man.. You prduce a good music... Just one thing... Your body laguege.. Make moves with your body... (Put feelings and Show that you are enjoying what you are playing.)

  • /watch?v=eQqOPDoSbqU

  • wonderful! :)

  • i tryed to visit your site but the link isnt working :(

  • Nice clarinet tone and phrasing ideas! way to go man!

  • fricken amazing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Great, loved it!

  • That was AMAZING! Your tone was purely BEAUTIFUL! I haven't played my clarinet for 2 months now and I really should. But FANTASTIC JOB!

  • qué buena versión, y el clarinete te suena muy bien, acorde para el estilo! bravo!

  • Very good tone!!!! I hope I get that good on my clarinet!

  • 04:04 good girls :DDD

  • That was beautiful, but the dude wasn't very expressive. Just sorta stood there.

  • the soprano sax playere looks so bored

  • nice sound and great phrases! keep it up man! :)

  • I'm a clarinet player and you make a wonderful sound! Is that a buffet clarinet?

  • Love love love!!

  • i play clarinet but bari sax in my jazz band:)

my director wants to have a clarinet feature in some of our tunes and i'm okay

    but you are amazing.

what kind of clarinet do you have? the sound is just phenomenal. seriously.

  • How did you learn to be so good at jazz improvisation? I've always wanted to be able to play like that. I'm also a clarinetist who's in love with jazz.

  • this made me feel like i'm in heaven for some odd reason... it was so beautiful!! i wish i was this good at clarinet :)

  • I'm trying to start playing jazz clarinet (only 7th grade) but, even though there was a jazz band, my band director wouldn't let me join, because apparently the only instruments that can play jazz are trumpets and saxophones. Oh well. Hopefully one day he'll see the beauty in jazz clarinet :D Oh, right, this is supposed to be about the VIDEO...amazing playing! Beautiful tone...such talent. Good luck! Hope to hear you OUTSIDE of Youtube videos someday!!

  • @spock98231 The same thing happened to me, Ive been playing since 7th grade and am in love with jazz and our director wont allow clarinets either. They need to hear stuff like this! It's amazing!

  • @spock98231 Ouch, Im 7th grade too and play clarinet too :) I got into the option time Jazz band(I felt like joining the Jazz band many times in grade 5&6, but was unsure. I feel sorry for you, why can't he let you in! The only problem in my Jazz band is that I have to go play Trumpet Music because there were only 2 Clarinets (including me) who signed up, and the other guy ditched and changed options LOL. I think there will be Clarinet officially in later grades :)

  • wow. keep it up. If you don't mind me asking, what kind of music do you listen to? Who inspires you?

  • Very clear tone. Great job!

  • So relaxing..

  • This is really beautiful.

I'm also a jazz clarinet player, I wish I had your improv skills though!

  • congratulations! I also play clarinet :) you have a beautiful song, very good!

  • Have you taken any improv classes, because that is some... wonderful improving. I saw your weber video as well. You are an all around great player. Are you in college or... have a degree or what? Any tips for good improving too? Im taking some classes in college just new to the stuff. As for music in general its my major so I have the skills necessary, I just feel like I suck right now hah. But seriously, that's pretty good

  • really really nice

  • OH THE CLARINET IS SO AWESOME IN JAZZ!!!

My highschool band directer just started a jazz band, but he isn't letting clarinets or flutes join!!!! I've been so furious about it because they are both KILLER jazz instruments and everyone in my band thinks they're not because of my band directer!

  • Voggorb, although you said you were now playing classical music, I think you could really do something here in America playing Jazz...........the time is right for a young guy with your talent and sound! It just takes a little persistance and the right person hearing it once that could change your life forever!!! Also, take your video to an experience music engineer and editor and you wouldn't believe the magic they can do! Great stuff my friend!

  • 4:02 the girls kiss :o) ... but awesome music new to jazz, but this is one of those performances that makes you feel that you have heard it before.

  • Pretty damn sexy clarinet playing, if all that was improvised.

  • do you have the sheet music for clarinet

  • wow ur so good O_o

lol, I get depressed when I see this

    practise, practise, practise -_-

    I'll try ^_^

  • This is beautiful! i know nothing, N-O-T-H-I-N-G about jazz music but i know someone who plays the jazz clarinet. I haven't been able to see him perform yet, and i really wanted to know what it sounded like...confess i was a little scared because he'd equated it to metallica...but this is the most beautiful music i've ever heard!

  • we have just some few jazz clarinetists coz all swith clarinet for saxaphone^^

  • i study clarinet but my i play just clasic music -.-

^_^ but when i listen jazz i fly xD

i wanna try jazz to ^_^

if some 1 have some nice songs pls send me notes^_^

  • I'm playing clarinet classic 8 years..

You have a very good voice

In Israel there are many people who play clarinet because this is the instrument which defindes israel :P

  • nice metal bass intro

  • so awesome man do you have the notes

  • Great clarinet solo, you should take lessons from Eddie Daniels.

  • love it i love clarinet

  • lawrencekane2000@yahoo.com

  • Where you from?

I've just finished high school. I'm a jazz clarinetist eager to sound that good :P

  • @1992SFA thanks! I'm from Stockholm. nice that you also play jazz clarinet=) it's a shame that there are so few jazz clarinetists around!..

  • @voggorb yeh I know. I'm from Sydney and most of the jazz clarinetists here are either men in their 70s playing trad jazz (which is fine in moderation) or young classical musicians attempting to play jazz.

  • @voggorb I'm a finnish 13 year old clarinetist and i'd want to play jazz too! :(

  • Wow...so nice! )))

  • wow, you are reeeeeeally good !!!

  • yay! I like this!

  • you have talent AND you are really cute. Your girlfriend is very lucky!

  • YOU'RE SO HANDSOME. I mean-- I like the way you play. In all seriousness, this is really really beautiful. Thanks for sharing.

  • wow not rehearsed that is so lucky! well I am also a clarinet player getting to college level! I have always played clarinet never changed to any instrument. My clarinet is my baby! well you did a wonderful job!

  • You have amazing talent. You really do. I'm hoping that you haven't given up this talent of yours.

You know, I know this song by heart, and yet I still have no idea what it's from. Mind filling me in?

  • bravo al clarinettista!!!!

  • Such a sexy sound. Good stuff, good stuff, I'm thinking of taking it up myself.

  • this dude is incredible!...high school?...what talent...really enjoyed the posting!

    hope UR still playing!

  • @1clarinet1981 thanks a lot:) yeah I'm still playing, but mostly classical music now..

  • @voggorb--- hope the classical route is good for you...i rec'd my Bachelor of Music Degree in Clarinet Performance from Auburn University...all i knew was the "stiff" playing of classical music (which i love), but, i really envy your incredible smooth style, and your obvious understanding of jazz playing & music theory...i never got that & my musical prowess is entirely "learned..." good luck to you!

  • wow a soprano sax next to a clarinet... thats slays both of them... sax is sayin haha im better than yuo and the clarinet is like well im still the star... damn shame

  • Great in every way... great technique and what a haunting timbre/sound. I play jazz clarinet and soprano/tenor sax. I shared this with my jazz ensemble and they loved it to the point that we now play it night clubs and wedding gigs. I play the clarinet solo as you.. based my intrepretation off you and Brandfor Marsalis... Thanks for the inspriation.

  • @LeBeauBiloxi wow, I feel honored=) and it's great that we at least are a few jazz clarinetists here on Earth, so keep playing!

  • holy shit i love this so much, and just the feel of the solo is amazing!!

this is like the best version of this song i can find

  • I like this kind of feeling !

    Bravo From Paris (France)

  • hey man i just listened to the recording of paganini and i can't say how much i loved the music and the way you played it!

question, was that on sheet music or did you transcribe it?

  • bravo les mec!!!!!

  • incredibly beautiful play the clarinet and in general the whole team fits nicely:) I also play the clarinet and improvise a bit:) I greet the team and all, and clarinetist clarinetists:)

  • incredibly beautiful play the clarinet and in general the whole team fits nicely:) I also play the clarinet and improvise a bit:) I greet the team and all, and clarinetist clarinetists:)

  • nice clarinet improvising in E minor

  • I love it, I've watching all the performances for this song in the videos, but I don't find one that have a sound so beautiful and lovely like your version.

I'm so proud of the sound of my instrument...

  • didn´t you record all your show that night?

  • I'm so glad that u kept the clarinet sounding like a clarinet while playing a jazz piece :) clarinetists tend to make the clarinet sound like a saxophone whn playing jazz lol

  • This is music at it's purest form.....american jazz by incredibly talented young high school kids just mucically blowing away the homoginized packaged "stars' of today - thanks you for a great start of a new decade!!! Keep it up Voggord, you are the real deal bro!!!!

  • Outstanding!

I'm thinking of starting a jazz band of my own.

    Jazz and bossa forever!

  • is it Kurt Cobain on soprano sax????

  • EXCELLENT !

  • Bra lirat Victor =D

  • wow..

this has actually inspired me to take up woodwind instruments!

  • lesbians @ 4:05 ftw?

  • no, the one to the right is a guy. sorry if i ruined that for ya, but thx for checking out my video :)

  • ahah oh,

nice video anyways. this song is awesome.

  • Rofl i Saw that and was like WOAH!!! xD

  • hey nice job, this is a great tune, what kind of Clarinet are you using here?

  • very nice jazz tone. cheers.

  • Aw... it's beautiful. And you're a cutie. Much love!

  • this is so cool mate, didn' t know they had you play jazz in high school...

Here in Italy there's no musical training whatsoever after junior high, let alone jazz classes... maybe that's why you sound so very good. Cheers

  • totally awesome...you have an amazing sound

  • Great feeling and sound posture! How old are you?I play clarinet as well:) Another thing..-offourse you´re not moving,if you are using a mic:D I move around to,it pleases me:) Check out my videos, comment maybe:) tnx,bye

  • thanks! I was 17 when this was recorded.

  • If that was legit improv, you are amazing especially considering your age. Great job. Makes me want to practice my clarinet more.

  • really greatO_O

  • great sound; smooth improv; no tone flux, which is odd, especially in the improv(except when you wanted to) the clarinet moves around(i have perfect pitch) also the video has great quality.

Can you get me the sheet music for the main theme?

  • dionisios grammenos - francaix clarinet conc EYM 2008

  • well I'm not American and have never claimed to strive for an "American jass sound", so I don't really see your point.. but thanks for checking out my video anyway:)

  • nice clarinet sound man ...

  • It is sad about the ending, that was very enjoyable. I appreciated what you put up there.

  • excellent, excellent, excellent, excellent sound man. Wow.

  • legal

  • Beautiful!

  • Loved it :D

  • OMG...it's so beautiful....makes me wanna pick up my clarinet again....it's been a while since I've played......now i don't remember where i hid my clarinet.....

  • you have a great clarinet sound man! Keep on going! You posted this a long time ago, but keep the videos coming. haha whoever was filming was a tiny bit naive during the guitar solo at like 3:25.

  • be fair, the guitarist WAS behind someone

  • very enjoyable, thanks :)

  • o man you gotta tell me where to find the score for this music!

  • it's a jazz standard, e.g you can find it in a "Real Book" (mine is the 6th edition i think)

  • Really great! I play the piano and now i want to learn how to play clarinet... Ahah.

  • Don't listen to any of the "helpful hints". You're doing everything right and you're one of the most relaxed clarinetists I've seen. Stay that way.

As for the displacement of the clarinet by the saxophone - probably largely due to the be-bop era. That style is extremely difficult to play on the clarinet. But Eddie Daniels does a fine job of it on his album "To Bird With Love".

  • faster air. Be confident :)

  • OH WOOOOOOW. SPAM.....

  • Hey your pretty good at that Clarinet guy but i think if you put a little more emotion into your playing you would sound even better. I play clarinet in a dixieland jazz and big band and you have awesome potential keep it up!

  • thx for the advice =)

  • Do you have any samples of your work? I'd love to hear it.

  • haha..so mean!!

  • then dont play..

  • yay i play jazz clarinet too its so cool!!

but i cant improvise like that!! wowness...

  • Very Nice. i played the clarinet in my college jazz combo, it rose a few eyebrows, and changed a few minds about mixing the clarinet and jazz. ultimately it was the most fun i ever had. keep up the great playing.

  • VERY NICE! I'm glad to know I'm not the only guy to play clarinet in their high school jazz ensemble. You're very good keep it up, I'm planning a career on playing jazz clarinet and there's always room for more clarinetists in jazz!

  • u also play jazz??! i know, it's hard to find jazz clarinetists. i, like you, am glad that we are at least two haha :P if you have any videos of yourself i'd really like to see them!

  • videos are comming soon, I'll probably play Afternoon in Paris to start with. Its chord structure is really fun to improvise over.

  • nice =) yea i like that song too

  • i'm so jealous.. i play the clarinet and i absolutely love it.. and i'm pretty good at it too. my band instructor doesn't want clarinets in jazz band so i took up the alto saxophone just for jazz band.. i envy jazz clarinetists. great job by the way! (:

  • I suggest that you learn jazz on clarinet even if your instructor doesn't want clarinets in jazz band. When you hit college and if you plan on continuing to play, you'll use clarinet there. Trust me. I'm in a college jazz band and we use clarinets and flutes on occasion along with alto flute, bass clarinet and soprano saxophone. :) Best of luck!!

  • awesome. (: i actually love playing the alto sax as well for jazz too, but i might have to try some jazz clarinet on the side! i give him shit anytime we see jazz clarinet at festivals.

  • What? thats stupid. Clarinets sound awesome playing jazz...

I too am a clarinetist who is in love with jazz

But they just dont make music for us...

  • Some bands replace the clarinet with an Alto Saxophone, like my jazz band does. I'm not in it really, but the clarinet players I know have had to transition to Alto. Which is total crap; though the Alto is an icon of Jazz, it simply can't match the sound of a clarinet.

  • The clarinet was the original jazz instrument and remained the only solo instrument for it besides trumpet from jazz's birth in the late teens to the early 50s.

  • Hm. You learn something everyday. Thanks for the info. Though with people who don't know that, most associate Jazz with the Alto Sax. : P

  • dommage que le son ne soit pas très bon...

sinon je trouve la chanson vraiment très très bien et le gars assure à la clarinette!c'est très beau

  • Very good everything, the only thing that got me was the way the soprano sax guy held it, ur supposed to hold it out in front of you not like a clarinet. Overall Excellent.

  • miles held his trumpet to the floor does it matter and you aint sposed to hold it any particular way

  • yeah becuz you can tell that his sound is kinda off, and the sound isn't projected as well as if he had held the bell out like your supposed to. But with trumpet it is kinda ok becuz you are literally used to hearing it that way when school bands play their concerts or rehearsles. yes or no your call on that one.

  • well i know a few pro play, that play like that ,coltrane was 1 wach his vids ,stan getz does it in his vid ect, with mics and good stage sound it dosent matter too tough now,i used to play mine like that it was comfy didnt break your arms why do they make bent crooks for straight sops ? lol

  • It matter HOW you HOLD it. It matters how you PLAY it. But anyways-- it just looks bad, that's all. Professional players who put their soul into playing don't hold it in any particular fashion.

  • I meant to say it DOESN'T MATTER HOW YOU HOLD IT... haha.

  • actually it kinda does because the way you hold it projects the sound differently and will make the instrument sound weird, especially for the soprano sax when it is pointed to the floor. your supposed to hold it out in front of you like any others would.

  • This is very mature playing for a high school ensemble. Great job!

  • Thank you =)

  • that a backun barrel? haha

  • seriously you are one of the few good clarinetists in here. Its a shame to hear many of the songs played on youtube

  • Now this is what I like to see.

  • Great job - you are playing with inspiration and there are a lot of melodies in your improvisation - thanks for posting!

  • LOVING ur dark tone and precise intonation!!! Thats how i like 2 play my instrument. Cant find many examples of performers playing nice, slow and dark tho:/ evrybody like these fast, up-tempo, 4000 notes per minute players that sound like evrything is nice and cheery outside. The majority of the registers our instrument has tend 2 the dark side in my opinion. Good playing, strive to become better tho cause so will i ;)

  • Ok!

i have a Henri Selmer Paris Oddysee and is realy pleased with it^^,

  • What clarinet do you play on?

    your clarinet looks LONG!

    or is it just me?

you got a great sound 2!

  • haha :P it's a regular Buffet RC, normal size. maybe it's the camera angle or something that makes you think it looks long =)

  • do you have sheets for what you played there?

if so, i'd love to get a copy of it!

and by the way: you play awesome!

  • the song is called Beautiful Love and you can find it in a Real Book. I used the 6th edition. glad you liked it :)

  • I like Your metallic sound.

    What reeds do you use?

  • WOW you sound GREAT!!!!

nice everything!! ^^ Keep playing beautifully!

  • Omg! Inspiration finally! I loved his tone!

  • How do I hear more of this?...You are great

  • Thanks! I will try to record some more stuff like this :)

  • good!!!!!! is like the eddie daniels version

  • Hey,thank you nice sound!

Your Rc sounds just like Miles Davis,so good.

I use Rc too, with tosca GL bell & barrel.

What barrel do you use? Backun?

  • Hey i cant see the guitar dude :(

  • yea i know.. but you can hear him :P

  • you're gorgeous.

  • wow that sounded awsome dude like really awsome.

  • im looking around at clarinets... what model is the clarinettist playing?

  • i play on a Buffet RC

  • Very Very Very GOOD!!
