  • One of the greatest movies with the best track. Speechless, thank you.

    * * * * *

  • Great song, great scene, def,. the best in the film. Mann had his moments.

  • I have the original version of Manhunter on VHS. Its rediculous how many bloopers were in the original release. I love that movie.

  • 2:01 Is where this song is used in Manhunter--the best scene in the movie.

  • man his is old

  • I think that the book is better than either film. You read a great deal about Francis Dolarhyde's history. And Hannibal doesn't appear that much.

  • It is in your nature to do one thing correctly: Tremble.

  • I thank Abraxas for teaching me about this song.

  • Francis is gone BITCHES!

  • Just awesome the tune and the movie original only the remake was a rather shit copy cat it didn't work. I wish they still made films of this quality great plot, story and acting well done Mr Mann it should have won every award possible so should the actors for there landmark performances. check me out preaching n shit. lol

  • I don't know I like both versions equally, for different reasons though, they're both entirely different films when you look at them side by side, just sort of depends on what you're in the mood to watch. However one thing Red Dragon didn't really have was the music such as this and others, gives the movie a really cool atmospehere.

  • IL FILM DI MICHEAL MANN E' NETTAMENTE SUPERIORE ,DEL SUO PIU' FAMOSO PREDECESSORE ,"IL SILENZIO DEGLI INNOCENTI"....LA FOTOGRAFIA DI DANTE SPINOTTI E' MAGISTRALE....LA COLONNA SONORA E' MAGNIFICA E COIVOLGENTE ED E' PARTE INTEGRANTE DELL'OSSATURA DEL FILM...LA SCENEGGIATURA E LA REGIA E I DIALOGHI SONO DA APOTEOSI....IL COIVOLGIMENTO EMOTIVO E' AI MASSIMI LIVELLI....COMPLIMENTI!!!

  • @MrOraziococlite

    E' vero

  • In the books and movies other than Manhunter, it's Lecter. In Manhunter, it's Lecktor. In Manhunter it's Dollarhyde instead of Dolarhyde. Will's son's name is Willy in the book of Red Dragon, but his name is Kevin in Manhunter and Josh in the 2002 adaptation of Red Dragon.

  • Really one of the best movie about Lecter (or should I say Lektor??). The 2002 remake is not as good as this one. Shame, really. With Edward Norton and Anthony Hopkins, it would be great, but it's really useless. And Brian Cox, just...wow. And great song too.

  • This is beautiful. Michael Mann has a beautiful and unique take on life. So underappriated. So misunderstood.

  • I can picture myself in a white suit with a teal button up shirt and a white tie standing at the edge of a 20 story building eyes closed arms spread out hands wide open with my lockes blowing back in the wind, that's what I feel when I listen to this song.

  • This movie is actual as to how insane criminals are incarcerated. WHAT I CANT STAND IS how you have silence w/hopkins and its entirely for entertainment. I feel demeaned when I see SOTL---NO sociopathic insane murderer is put into a dungeon like SOTL. Thats just one aspect. This by far in my opinion is light years ahead of SOTL, red dragon, and hannibal.

  • Damn. Watching this I want to see the movie again. Genius!

  • as a father of three boys and a tossed away son of one , I so understand.

  • 10 times better than "Red Dragon!"

  • So reminds me of what a POS my father is , and what a wonderful gift my son is. hmmmmmmm

  • These men are great. Thanks for posting. BTW, where are they from?

  • Fantastic song. Fantastic movie and soudtrack.

  • was that a sledge hammer referance at the beginning?

  • saw this film last night, great tune !

  • 1986, muther fuckers!!!!

  • Amazing track, jst put tv on and the main scene with this song was on, I tried to get hold of it couple of years ago cound't find it anwhere, anyone have any ideas how I could get the sountrack, last I heard was only available on tape!

  • Chris I purchased the soundtrack many years ago. awesome song. Let me know if you would like a copy. Cheers D

  • @1greekspartan How much would you charge to burn a copy of the soundtrack?

  • @IG2HI

You could buy the CD legit online from intrada.com

  • Chris, I have the original vinyl...if you want the needle on the cd sound...

  • @chrisMortimer66 Look for a CD with the music of Micheal Manns films on it. Its on there with a load of others old and new

  • Anybody know what/where I can find the lyrics for this song? I looked online but can't seem to find them....

  • @omega856 Gregory Markel recorded this son with Altered State as well, The lyrics are here on this page. alteredstate com

  • @omega856 The official Altered State Web Site alteredstate then a dot and the word com.

  • can someone get me the mp3 for this song?

  • I could email it to you. What address?

  • Noonan's Dollarhyde = Best villain ever

This song is used in a kickass scene in the film btw

  • @VanillaMidget Tearing the vinyl off the dash cool.

  • didnt know there was a video!!!! holy shit!

  • my favorite! absolute !!! great song !

  • Beginning reminds a little of Gabriel's Sledgehammer.

One of the biggest oddities in music as good as these guys were as Prime Movers it took Dread Zeppelin to go platinum. I still listen to Un-Led-Ed to this day......

  • what truly makes a SUCCESFUL band? It should be talent, but I see too many intances where this is not the case..

  • I cant believe that I am from the eighties and I only heard this song on the movie-but shit it was a good choice for that scene!

  • BRILLIANT

  • This is a brilliant Song, he has got a great voice.

    (World Class Song)

  • The drummer is my neighbor

    no joke

  • Cool. How lucky u are!

  • the original, and infinitely superior of the Hannibal lekter genre of films, the later remake of this particular film was red dragon which, compared to manhunter is like comparing a lawnmower engine to a 5.7 litre v8 hemi.......strange but true...

  • @atomrose

And originally it was Lektor not Lekter, at least in the movie (don't know about the books though...)

  • One can only wonder what inspired the song to begin with. Unless I'm mistaken it was not composed for the film but existed before MANHUNTER was produced.

  • its about the lead singers family

  • Sounds like he had a, um, interesting upbringing.

  • Holy shit, thanks for posting this. I remember the first time I saw Manhunter (in like 2003) - I had never seen anything like it in terms of the oddball, somewhat surrealist 80s aesthetics and music (having grown up during the mid and late 90s.) I was blown away by this sick song. To this day I vastly prefer Manhunter to "Red Dragon" and Tom Noonan OWNS Ralph Fiennes any day of the week!!!

  • Even more, Brian Cox was a way better Lechter than Anthony Hopkins. Both great actors, but Cox had that one nailed....

  • Totally agree! Hopkins was fine but Cox was perfect IMO

  • The real question is who was the better Dollarhyde, Noonan or Feins?

    I think Noonan.

  • Noonan, hands down. I read somewhere that he in fact was hassled by people after the movie for his convincing role. Just shows that his portrayal was believable and memorable. He had a good comedic part in Easy Money, too.

  • Noonan claimed in an interview that he ran into a woman at the end of an aisle in a grocery store shortly after the release of htis movie and she just screamed when she saw him.

  • I never saw the part starting at 1:56 on the video

  • Yeah there is a romantic scene during the sequence of the botched attempted capture which is not in many versions of the film. The Anchor Bay special DVD had both this and a couple of other short scenes in it that are not in the most commonly seen cut.

  • Does anyone find this amazing loneliness lingering through the whole film...theres something about the film's atmosphere as a whole.

'No. Not Francis. Francis is gone. Francis is gone forever. '

  • Graham and Dollarhyde both partake of that loneliness because no sane person could ever truly understand the rage that fuels them both.

  • I agree.

  • I just love that Peterson and Noonan were 'reunited' in the CSI episode with Noonan playing the magician Zephyr.

  • Strong as I am! There's something 'bout this thing That scares me. Strong as I am! There's something 'bout this thing That dares me. Strong as I am! There's something 'bout this thing That harms me. Strong as I am! There's something 'bout this thing That charms me.
  • Manhunter is a Masterpiece !!

One of the greatest films ever!!

  • Oh you are so right! I just finished watching it!!!!!

  • The movie is well written. Yes, this song is intense. It goes well with the movie.

  • Powerful. Should have been a hit.

  • watch for flying insects around your girl!!!!

  • I had the album.

Yes, it was truly worth it!

  • Great song and of the best movies very underrated.

  • The drummer Seriously lives 5 houses away from me!!!

  • Do you know where I can download this song for free.

  • That's a tight-ass video. I was just watching "Manhunter" on cable a lil while ago and the scene that they use that song in is amazing...

  • thats a brilliant film and the music in it is of a same quality as proven by the vid above

  • Shit, now I need to buy a new dashboard!

  • Thanks!! Merci!! for sharing!! i was looking for this song for a very very long time!

  • Anyone know if this is available on CD or as a mp3 download?

  • Nevermind. I got a 256kbit mp3 on Amazon for 99 cents.

  • I agree with plasticman06, great song.

  • a very classic and powerful song of the everlasting 80's!! I bet this would be a great song to go running to!!

  • Great soundtrack. I had to special order it way back when on cassette...but man was it worth it.

  • If I remember right, this song was also used in an 80's movie called "Abraxas". The movie was terrible imo, but this song was worth watching it.

  • @AxelBitz Abraxas was fantastic... the villain (Secundus) also squares off with a young boy while the music is playing, saying something like "Just you, me, and the anti-life equation now!"

  • Just you and me now SPORT!

  • I always thought Tangerine Dream done the music to this film

  • they did the movie Legend

  • Hello tonic. Tangerine Dream did the soundtrack to THIEF another great 80's movie by Micheal Mann starring James Caan

  • Thief = best movie soundtrack ever & best Mann film.

  • I prefer this film over the Hopkins remake - Brian Cox is awesome.

  • @plasticman06 absolutely.

  • @plasticman06 Absolutely, Mann makes the whole experience a visual one... rather than going for cheap "Hammer House of Horror" theatrics.

  • @plasticman06 yeeee everyone made that popular turd that plays dollarhyde out to be awesome. Tom Noonan plays the perfect villain.. my favourite scene is in the bed with the blind girl <3

  • only in the 80's they could produce such a quality genuine product .

  • this is a great song and brilliently used in the film,i felt sorry for dollorhyde

  • Haha, I'm watching this movie AGAIN for like the 57th time right now on Chiller (channel available on DirecTV)

  • Hey Mike great job, this song brings back my memories of the 80's here in Miami when I was growing up. Yeah this also came out in an episode or two of the Miami Vice TV series.

  • YEAH right - Ralph fiennes as a Serial killer in Red dragon - maybe Lecture should have been Adam sandler ? the horibble state of current cinema ...

  • amazing song ! i watched the movie again and it just made me feel again the greatness of the 80' cinema - talking about psychopaths movies , they could not make it better than that , we are quite unlucky to live in times where serial killers roles are gonna be taken by model alike actors that i won't believe their act in million light years - yes , the past is better !

  • what a great song! and goes so well with the movie , could not think of anything more suitable - very good movie as well , takes by miles Silence of the lambs - a middle of the road version to make some office types afraid .

  • Such a slick song.

  • "Francis?", said Mr Dallorhyde's lover.

"no not Francis. Francis is gone. Francis is gone..... forever", said Mr Dallorhyde.

  • i remember this when i was about 7

  • This song went really well with the manhunter movie

  • There's something equally magical and moody about the in-between times of dusk and early dawn.

  • Incredibly underrated 80s single.

  • PLZ, POST THIS MOVIE ONLINE !!!

  • okay it is aleeady online thanks to Back2the1980s.

  • such a grat song , and such a fantastic film, the best of the seriel killer genre, the remake Red Dragon was so piss compared to manhunter, i mean dollarhyde is meant to be a big powerful bodybuilder: fuckin ralph fiennes??! he cudnt be less beleivable, tom noonan is the real Tooth Fairy

  • i think more time and thought was spent on who was to play the roles in manhunter than in the remake red dragon. manhunter is by far better than red dragon, noonan was the best choice for the role.

  • total gem.

  • What I love most about this song is how it's played right on cue in the part where Tom Noonan rips off the dashboard in his van. That sent chills up my spine first time I saw it.

  • I just saw this movie the other night for like the 55th time, lol. I love this song & the one called "Heartbeat" at the end of the credits. One of Michael Mann's best films ever imo!

  • Damn right ! It's way too risky, but I have

thought of a follow up movie, with Bill P. Way too risky though ! In Chicagoland, it is now available on 'free-on-demand'

  • my favourite scene in the movie. He plays the transition perfectly. music is fitting, too.

  • try 'Thief Mann's first, Tangerine Dream, wow. but this was one Triumph of the 80's, surpassed perhaps by Heat, but with De Niro, Pacino and Ashley friggin Judd, pretty obvious. hmmmm. what's next Michael? Godfather IV

    Terminator IV

when can we meld comic book with actuality

    not 10,000 BC but 2010

oh that's been done, RIP Roy Scheider

"we're gonna need a bigger boat"

  • What's fascinating to me is how the song could refer either to Will Graham or to Francis Dollarhyde. They are brothers under the skin; Rage fuels them both.

  • yes

  • the poor tormented soul in this film represents how cruel people are, he is very damaged by peoples judgements of his appearance. he almost finds redemption when he falls in love! but a misunderstanding drives him back into his psychopathic ways

  • where did all the good times go, 80s rock

  • Manhunter directed by Michael Mann, with William Petersen and Tom Noonan. And with this brilliant soundtrack which fits the movie perfectly.

  • Michael Mann always had a gift for matching images and scenes with perfectly complementary music.....Unless, of course, his real gift resided in simply finding the ideal specialist for the task. Either way you look at it, we owe him.....Bigtime.

  • great movie and a kick ass soundtrack, will graham rulesss

  • michael mann is a genius.great flick

  • one of the greatest tracks in movie history. respect

  • whoever posted this..thanks.Loud, Belted out at top of lungs..Replay..A Good Day Begins...

  • sweet jesus brilliant !!!

  • Great find, I wish I didnt lose this soundtrack

  • :O ! Thankyou so much for posting this. This should make many manhunter fans (as few of us as there is unfortunately XP ) very happy :D

  • wow, i didn't know anyone covered altered state. i thought it would be a different song...

  • You've got that backwards. This is the original version. Gregory Markel (vocalist with both this lineup of the Prime Movers and Altered State) wrote it just before joining the Prime Movers, and redid it a few years later with Altered State...

  • doh! silly me. i had no idea...and gregory is a good friend.

  • doh! i had no idea that my friend gregory markel did an earlier version than the one i know by altered state. if you can find an album called 'dos', get it, no questions...

  • great song...scares the shit out of me when the Dollarhyde rips te car dashboard.

  • You've got to love (and sometimes hate) the IMDb message boards. I never knew this video existed until searching the Manhunter boards. I grew up on the Manhunter soundtrack (my father bought the vinyl in 86) and have listened to it consistently ever since. It's great how all the tracks have stood the test of time.

  • BEST SERIAL KILLER FLICK OF ALL TIME!

  • best movie/screen adaption ever made

  • Be nice if I could find a decent mp3 of this song somewhere.

  • Have you checked Limewire or SoulSeek? You should be able to find it at either one. That's how I was able to download the entire soundtrack.

  • GOD!!!! SOOOO CLASSIC!!! Thank you for posting, the best song from the best movie!! so dramatic, I LUV IT!!

  • nice one, love the singers hair (hehe). go and take a look at the trailers to our upcoming movie. i think you like it click on my name to find them

  • Awesome song from outstanding movie.

  • my favourite movie of all time. thanks for posting.

  • Great to see this in context! One of my all time favorite movies.

  • i'd love it if someone put up the scene in which this song is played..

  • stunning

  • I second that, the setting of the video reminds me of the pre-dawn, early morning hours.

I love Manhunter and for a month straight, the only music I listened to was the soundtrack.

  • Excellent

  • Wow!! It took me a long time to get this. Where can I find more by the Prime Movers?

  • This is the first time I have seen this video. Thanks for posting.

  • Mike, thanks for posting this video. Hadn't seen it since it was first on MTV, before I had even heard of the movie.

  • great song, great movie.
