  • It's actually sweet that that's how much Dante loved Beatrice.

  • Dante made history! I have a copy of the divine comedy.I like the part where he said that a celestial being said"o senseless cares of mortals. How deceiving are syllogistic reasonings that bring your to flight so low to earthly things"...there is a lot of meaning in those words...

  • I want to know where is the mozaic where the whole story is depicted in images ,please anybody ?

  • @scarry07 Hi. The mosaic you ask about is the ceiling of the baptistery (round building next to the cathedral) in Florence. Well worth a visit if you are ever in that part of the world. Best, Jim Burge

  • is it just a documentary? i thought this was a movie =P is there a movie version or no?

  • ..... continued from previous post:

By coincidence, I have just written a book about Dante, called Dante's Invention, to be published in November. Search for Dante's Invnetion on You Tube or Facebook.

Any chance you could give a credit for me and the book on your posting.

All the very best, James (Jimburge1)

  • @Jimburge1 Good to hear from you.. I have added your credit to the 3 videos.. if you want me to say any more let me know.

This was an excellent documentary that I have had for some time on video.. I'm sorry

I didn't give you credit before because.. in myt expereince.. this often leads to copyright issues on utube..

I have two strikes against me already for uploading copyright material.. because I gave the creator credit and then they tracked me down and complained.

  • Comedy my ass!

  • @John27346 ....Not that comedy you dick, why not pick up a book now and again. People like you are just stupid, makeing comments like this.

  • @robotracking Ha Ha.

  • I like this video so much I would like to use this at our school. would you give me permission?

  • @kpkelaher It's an old documentary made by the bbc.. I'm sure they won't mind if you use it.

  • @kpkelaher The BBC allows the use of recordings of its programmes for educational purposes so you are alright.

As the director of the programme I am delighted that you like it, also delighted that you are teaching about Dante in school.

Perhaps you or your pupils would be interested in my book (published in November) called Dante's Invention.

    All the best, James Burge

  • i get pretty upset when i start talking about The Divine Comedy then people say, what is that, and when I say Dante's Inferno they start talking about the game, awsome game though, but come on pick up a book once in a while.

  • does this have anything to do with "Dante's Inferno"?

  • @falloutsuperfreak "Dante's Inferno" is based off part one of this poem, "Inferno". The poem go on to purgatory and then salvation, showing where the videogame series is going

  • yes

  • yes because this is the description of dentes inferno and in the video game you are going through what dante went through so ive achully just realised, if you went a sneek peek into what to expect from the game refer to the 1st section of the "poem" .INFERNO lol

  • no this is something tht people dont get but part of this is hiddin in dantes inferno

  • Beautiful!!! Mil Grazie

  • were kids more sophisticated in those days?

  • @indongga I don't know.But Dante was a special kid :) Heh

  • probably

  • @indongga yes, they had no advanced form of entertainment, so they were tought to study stuff like poetry, geography, navigation, astrology, and to read.

Most stuff ppl dont do nowadays

  • At last a documentary on Dante. Thanks.

  • @DarKool81 That's what I said too!

    I just love his work!

  • what is the name of the song played in the background in the beginning when he saw Beatrice?

  • @spacedoutunknown2 Hi. The song is called Onques n'amai tant que jou fui amee performed by Sinfonye from CD Bella Domna, Hyperion CDA 66283

Best, James Burge (havea look at my book Dante's Inventions for more info)

  • any more of this ? part 4?

and what is this from ? looks very old.

  • not any more...because there are only 3 parts in dante's divine comedy...

  • How perfectly wonderful this series of videos are...thank you so much for uploading these, accel, they are incredible. Dante must have remembered so intensely his chaste and passionate love for Beatrice to make her the namesake of his illumined mind. It is Beatrice who guides him through those realms of Paradise, and reminds him to be grateful for all that he is shown.
