@RealLightBee Quite a few of the Makover houses have been sold. They give the people the house, but the residents are responsible for the property taxes, which are usually two or three times what they paid on the old one.
This is such a touching thing that these people are doing for this women and her children. I grew up in this area and drive by this neighborhood all of the time and to see that something like this is taking place in our community is a great thing. This woman is a single mom that takes care of 3 adopted children with disabilities including her own boilogical son. Sure, the house she lived in before wasn't the worst house ever but, it wasn't the best and had problems that were just getting worse.
I was at the demo for this house...The house has been sinking 2in. a year. The woman that lives there takes care of kids with aids. They say theyll never come to New York for a show again because of all the laws. This show will be on May 20 for the 2 hour season finalle. Although they wont show it on the show...Ty Pennington wasnt even there for half of the week, he was in New York city
yea the house was sinking badly, like they said its not the worst they have seen, but i know one of the sons who graduated with us from Colonie High Class of 2006 and i couldnt be happier for him! Cant wait to watch it on May 20th
The house was ok, but the foundation was sinking. they technically could have moved the house off the foundation, but I think it would have cost them time and money to do so.
why did what seemed to be a upper middle class home have to be destroyed. couldn't they just repair it. seems this program goes more for grandstanding and ratings than helping the unfortunate.
The Americans RULE at demolition's, we should be doing better than we are now, Damn Health and Safety Regulations
