There's a bus that runs from outside Tsuruoka train station straight to the start of the Haguro-san trail. I am not sure about the other mountains of the set, I only climbed that one.
I forget how I found the details about the bus - I think it's mentioned in the Lonely Planet and I got more details at my hotel. I'm sure the hotel you're staying at will be able to help.
Expressway suggests you have wheels, so.. you can just drive there.
There is a magic about Haguro-san. Spend a day there exploring by yourself, "off the beaten path", and you'll feel plugged into the universe. Sounds hokey and contrived, but it's the truth.
yup :) looking at it again I think I edited it down too much.. partly because I didn't record enough of the muzak playing in that central arcade. I wanted to give the impression of how dead the place was.
Haha. Nice. Well your definately better at vlogging then me. I was in downtown Nagano a few hours ago and it was pretty sweet. I actually tried some vlogging. (Like actually looking at the camera and talking to myself in front of hundred's of people). So that was a big confidence booster for me. I just need to work on where my camera needs to be. I suck at getting my entire face in the shot. Need allot of practice.
Ah, thanks. Comments like this encourage me to make the effort to edit more of the video rather than playing computer games all the time..
Keep up the vlogging, and or shooting things you find interesting; I shot a lot of crappy footage that never made it online, and the first videos that did were still pretty poor (I'm thinking of my epic two-part bore-athon "Surreal night in Tokyo").

Temple looks cool and seems serene and peaceful. Forest looks cool as well.

Did you go to the okuribito sento?
That forest pagoda is pretty cool.

No, I think it was closed, and I didn't have time when I first found it. Plus was a bit scared.
The pagoda was very cool, the video doesn't do it justice.
