  • Grew up watching this as kid ... awesome ..

  • great movie for aussie

  • I have had this song stuck in my head for 30yrs, and do u think I could find it till now!!!!! All i remembered was "I got body, I got soul" and nothing else, loved this song!!!

  • The pub in the movie is the Harbour View in the Rocks. Love the movie, watch out for a young Geoffrey Rush as a stagehand near the end. Classic!!!

  • thanks nzoz, what a classic lost gem,, i used to live in Lower Fort streetr Millers Point where this pub is and it WAS just as in the clip then in the early 2000;s,,

  • Loved this movie! I used to dance around my lounge room, singing along at the top of my voice. Brings a smile to my face :)

  • Anyone got the name of the Pub where this was filmed?

  • @taipan185 Don't mind me I just did a search after seeing the name in the last scene of this clip.

  • wonder what happened to Jo Kennedy ?

  • @gregbutcher1 she works for something called "Focusing" now; just type her name into google and you'll find it

  • im loving the moves at 3:08

  • AAARRRGGGHH! Finally found it!

  • I haven't seen the movie in its entirety yet: why does Jackie (Jo Kennedy) move away when the guy standing on the table with her leans in? I don't think he was going to kiss her, but was that part of the storyline: that he wanted her?

  • @marehtseira he had bad breath..... LOL

  • @oceania68 be interesting if she told him that in the movie after the song was over, ha

  • @marehtseira lmao that would so funny if she did and was recorded. lol

  • you're a champion nzoz.

  • @custompipes1 thank you :-)

  • starstruck - great 80`s ozzie film was bill hunter in it

spot the aussie actors - max cullen cookie from counry practice

    classic

  • i remember seeing this advertised on a VHS when i was abt 7-8 and saw the film when i was 12!!

    Loved it lol

  • Best movie dance routine ever! Totally cracked me up! I love this song soooo much, thanks for putting it up :)

  • great movie..jo is great...must be the tutu

  • yeah not a bad track this one used to listen to on record years ago lol

  • Love Jo's natural little boobs. Gorgeous.

  • Just cringe when I see or hear this movie/song.

I saw it on ABC's Rage and just felt sick.

I remember back in 1982 how did these Bogans get funding for this trash.

    Absolute crap...

  • @unixhorn I hope this hasn't ruined a perfectly good Split Enz song for you

  • I loved the movie, Jo Kennedy and all the songs ♥

  • Strewth the Harbour View is one of my fave pubs, always enjoy a schooner looking out the front window while admiring the coathanger. But this pox ridden video clip is another matter I really have to look up a thesaurus to find a word that describes "beyond lame" .

The only redeeming feature of the film Starstruck is that Lucky Grills makes a cameo apperaence as a beer truck driver.

  • It was from the movie "Body & Soul"...

  • I found this movie at Best Buy years ago. I like the opening song where they are all dancing at the club

  • where is she now? I'd love to know. (if anyone knows please message me back)

  • Love the "Swan Lake" bit at 1:55!

  • Great Performance!!! 5*s Thanks sunsets & nzoz....Anita..

  • STARSTRUCK is a charming, hilarious, colorful and life-affirming musical- one of the finest films ever. The music's great,Jo Kennedy is adorable and vivacious and the entire cast is well-cast and wonderful. The super-happy ending never fails to choke me up. Anyone who hates this movie needs to consult a doctor about the gaping hole they have where a heart is supposed to go...

  • I couldnt agree more!

  • @vonsmitty1313 I totally agree with you about this movie. I watched it over and over as a kid growing up in the 80's and I even found the vinyl LP when a few years later which I played over and over. Not too many other black kids in my neighborhood really got it lol. Its the best! I get choked up too lol.

  • cute as!! i love this song

  • Starstruck was shown on Australia Television last night, nice memories of the eary 80s, I was living in Sydney then!

  • Dear Jo, like a cross between Toyah Wilcox and Jennifer Love Hewitt.

  • I saw this film again on Fox last night. I was in acting school when it came out and David Atkins was my choreographer (who did the choreography) at the time. I know some people in it and it was the first (and last) role for some of them. It's hilarious seeing it again, and those fashions!!!

  • Yup, she actually did sing all her stuff. I think everyone in the movie did.

My favorite character is, of course, Nana. I've completely lost track of how many times I've seen the movie or heard the soundtrack since 1982.

  • The actor is Jo Kennedy , and YES it is actually her singing

  • ActRESS, folks, or didn't you notice the outline?

  • What's Jo Kennedy up to these days? Good to see Cookie from a Country Practice on the other side of the bar.

  • how come there's a David McComb tag on this?

  • lol, oops!

    That's probably my mistake!

  • Shot at the harbour View Hotel in The Rocks - looks heaps different now

  • I think part of 'Stone' was filmed there too, glad the place is still there, too many old city pubs get knocked over these days.

  • I was at the Harbour View last Saturday arvo - had lunch there. Where the tiled harbour bridge pic was now stands a bookshelf and an LCD TV. But the exterior with the old Tooth KB (whatever happened to KB?) signs are still intact.

  • PMSL, Me too, Except I was 11, and wanted Jo to come with it

  • I'm pretty sure this video is actually an excerpt from the movie "Starstruck"

  • It is, and a bizarre, daft, delightful flick it is too, though I haven't seen it in... crumbs, over a decade!

  • Again, thanks so much for this clip. not only is it a terrific film, it's great that it was such a departure for Gillian Armstrong who directed it. FANTASTIC, thanks so much for posting!

  • Hard to imagine a worse video but the song is fantastic

  • It's not a video, it's a film clip. I don't know if that makes it appear better in your eyes, but there ya go.

  • just came across this movie on cable... I don't know... not so bad... the performance is marginal but the song is okay

  • Yeah, really really bad!

  • Some things better left in the '80s

  • lol, i totally agree. this is probably one of the worst of Australian pop of the 80's.

  • added... this is infact written by Tim Finn, who, of course, is a kiwi. this song wasn't so bad when it was done by Split Enz.

  • The Split Enz Recording is a MASTERPIECE! Especially the Luton version.

  • @nzoz1982 NZ band The Swingers appeared in and provided music in this film. And that's NZ actor Pat Evison in blue dress behind the bar!

  • @zaniac100 oh yes, that's right... i completely forgot about that... kiwis often complain that i include their bands on my channels and hate the idea that i link Australia and New Zealand together... but really... what would the Australian music scene be without those wonderful Kiwi bands/artists. Without Split Enz, Dragon, Swingers, Sharon O'Neill, it'd be much less of a scene...

  • @nzoz1982 Well usually they are linked because it is the New Zealanders themselves who *choose* to relocate to Australia.
