cant say as im shocked by this. iv driven many mustang GT's and i currently own a 2k deville dhs. as far as STOCK mustangs go "pre retro"they are a bit meh in power. the 24v 4.6 just aint got it imo "stock" . my heavy deville with the N* feels much more impressive. despite being much heavier and haveing less agressive gearing. 98 gt's had what 220hp.4.6 N*'s have 275hp and 300hp depending on the mod.
@fordfan25 Actually, the 98's (96-04) had 16v 4.6l's. The 24v's in mustangs didn't happen until 2005 (2005-2010). The 24v's are MUCH MUCH better than the 16v's stock (305-315hp depending on year). I ended up selling my caddy and got an 06 GT and even when it was stock, blew the doors off of my caddy. (the one in the vid)
The 98gt (96-98) had 215hp and were pretty pathetic for what they were. The 99-04 16v's were a lot better with 265hp.
@bbrewer5 ok thx for the heads up yea i got my numbers wrong lol. as i said i was never at all impressed with the pre retro 4.6's even in the 99+ year mods. in fact i prefered the 5.0 over the 4.6 "pre retro". ether way it took ford awhile to catch up to the n* in performnce as far as there 4.6 goes.now that new 5.0 is a whole new animal ;) id love to have a 2011 stang gt. very powerfull. to bad there so dang over priced as is most cars these days ;)
@fordfan25 It runs 12.2 now with mods. But yes, the caddy's were very fast for what they were and especially for the time period. Kinda funny looking back, that a big boat luxury car in the mid 90's was faster than all the sports cars of the day, with the exception of the lt1/ls1 t/a and camaro's.
Now where the hell did you gather that I'm a "chevy" fan boy???? For your information I'm actually looking at 03/04 Cobras. Don't assume that Someone is a fanboy because of what they drive. My next car will be a mustang. I give credit where its due regardless of the make/model. You made yourself look like an ass.
lol no joke. dont know if it would really be worth it, they are sluggish motors to begin with. Northstars are on another level than the 4.9. The 4.9l were very reliable engines though.
My dad had a 93 sedan deville and my mom had a 92 eldorado, both had the 4.9. good reliable engines, they had a little power to em for being bigger cars

Not really fair when you have 16-25 year old females keeping your production alive...

@Boltz87 LOL yeah they went through a dark time in the 90's. I might add that I drive a 2006 mustang GT now lol...oh the irony.

you chevy fan boys can eat ford's ass, the mustang is the ONLY production muscle car that has been produced every year since 64.

@honesty401 Well, to be fair dude, the Mustang is a Pony car... but it is the sole bearer of American no frills ass kicking.

can't really see but im guessing the caddi won. ford blows.
ultogamma 2 years ago
yes the eldorado won. His mustang ran a 14.6 in a qm and the caddy runs 14.3 and 14.4's consistently.
he pulls me from a dead stop by about a car length but i always wind up catching and passing him. I have a better mid/top end
