as i 12 year old boy, boys my age "dont cry" because if u do it suposivly show ur not a man... but i always cry when it comes to this part of dumbo... its my fav movie (hope no1 at my school sees this :P) and this is one of my favorite parts i cry everytime i see this.. :)
for some odd reason, i don't get that sad watching this scene, like i was sad but not as sad as u think a little kid would get. i always thought the punishment dumbo's mom got was unfair cause the kid went into her encloser and started hrting her baby i think we all would do the same as dumbo's mom did if dumbo was our kid
Disney couldn't make movies like this anymore even if they had a mind to... Nowadays this would probably be considered too much for little kids to be able to process, and a scene like this one would be cut altogether. It's a terrible shame, really.
Really, though, there are a lot of old Disney movies that I bet are considered 'too adult' for kids of this generation, like Dumbo, and Fox and the Hound for sure... Probably Bambi too.
Films like this, the ones you mentioned and others like The Little Mermaid, Snow White, Hunchback of Notredame, Sleeping Beauty and the Lion King would all be rated PG if released these days.
gosh everytime i get to this part of the movie i'm like, sobbing. but, if i had a chance this would be the lullaby i would sing. it just captures the feelins so perfectly.

i always cry at this part.. its so sad.. and always i get a litle babysick.. disney really knows how to make us cry.. bambi, fox and hound, dumbo, lion king etc.
I haven't seen this clip for 21 years, and it's probably just as well because I'm sitting here weeping just like I did when I was 3. :( It's heartbreaking and beautiful.
This movie touches me in so many wyas. Its beautiful. I found out that Disney made a lot of this story about a special needs child. And this song represents how even though people treat her child badly she loves him completely. Listen to the words there's many lines that show that. Wonderful movie
Just like my mum. I have a learning disability which sometimes make everyday tasks hard for me but she's always been there. She told me once, when I was little, I was eating a packet of crisps and this bitch said "You're disgusting" right to my face! My mum, I tell you, she blew up.
I remember in a bathroom in the mall by myself and a woman was helping her son who had a mental disability. I was looking at him thinking oh wow a boy in a girls bathroom, and he's my age. She was starting to explain in a hassled voice why he was in there, but all i did was smile and say hi to him. He waved back and smiled too. He had a beautiful smile. I was only 8 at the time, so it stood out to me in my mind ever since about how a smile can make anyones day better.
Watched this on DVD yesterday. Bawled like a gibbering idiot at this scene. I guess it packs more of an emotional punch to those who have lost their mothers. Sigh...
dumbo's just a baby.. why did they take his mom away from him when she was just protecting dumbo??the kids that went where dukmbo and his mom should be the 1 being punnished.. so basicually the elephants r being punished 4 what the kids did... thats sad in itself
Oh man... Dumbo was never my fave disney movie, but literally every time i hear this song i start to cry. Heck, i was trying to explain to a friend why the song makes me cry, and i described this clip, and by the time i got done explaining i was bawling...
pooor dumbo... he got taken from his mom *sniff sniff* poor dumbo... reminds my of the guinea pig we had named dumbo.. he didn't get 2 be with his mom cause he died.. he had big ears like Dumbo 2.. *sniff sniff* poor dumbo
I've been very ill for the past two weeks and my mom has been at my bedside suffering sleepless night along with me. *crying* I love you mom. This always makes me cry....
Very sweet clip. I remember seeing this movie as a child. Still brings back good memorys. My favorite recording of this song though would have to go to Michael Crawford. Michaels voice is so perfect for this gem of a song. If you haven't checked out MCs version of this song definetly try to do it. It to will bring you to tears. Thank you for uploading this great clip!
I swear, i cried when i was 6 years old, i cry now that i'm 16 years old, and it'll porbly still make me cry when i'm 56 years old, it's just so sweet. So sad, but so sweet...
I wish my mom and I were that close. I love her, and I know she loves me back, but it seems like she knows nothing about me. She put me in a program for depression, and I am NOT depressed. I know its just because she's worried, and cares. And this video is so beautiful. Thanks for posting. It made me cry :'(.
Geeez... I just had my first child a month ago, and seeing this video just made me cry so much. Now all I want to do is go hold her. Thanks for posting! Such a sweet and sad lullaby.
just 3 minutes ago my mom was next to me to see this vid... and... I cried! I ALWAYS CRY!... and than she gave me a big mother hug... aww!!!!! I´ve my own elephant!!! hehehe... I love you mom! and no... you don´t look like an elephat... it was just a joke.
I've cried since the 1st time I saw this movie nearly 50 years ago. Very sweet lullaby. This was the closest Disney got to doing an MGM style cartoon.
Aww that is so sad. Poor Dumbo he doesn't understand why he can't be with his mommy and he has to take comfort being rocked in his mom's trunk. Thanks for posting.
This video makes me tear up every time because me and my mom used to listen to this song in her van before she died this year. I guess it just reminds me of her. I know how Dumbo feels, being separated from his mom so early in life. I guess.
I love this so much. It makes me cry all the time. I supose you appricate your mum so much more. It is sad cause you see a baby cry and think about it
i never watched toon disney, but i want to watch this movie again and again...i have a little niece and she loves dumbo, the kids at school call her dumbo and when she cries bacause of it, i tell her parents to put this song on and she stops crying, she's 6 years old
not only does she love the song, but since i sent her a cd of my singing she wants me 2 sing it to her now mtshades103189 so i want to make an audio clip of me singing this song for her
