  • Never a tear Baby of mine !

  • I always cry at this scene

  • OMG Why do i torture myself and watch this. I cried hysterically. How do 2 dimensional fictional characters do that?

  • This scene and the one from sword in the stone where the owl is laughing his ass off are two of my favorite disney scenes ..

  • as i 12 year old boy, boys my age "dont cry" because if u do it suposivly show ur not a man... but i always cry when it comes to this part of dumbo... its my fav movie (hope no1 at my school sees this :P) and this is one of my favorite parts i cry everytime i see this.. :)

    DUMBO RULEZ

  • note that a good number of adult men still cry at this scene in the movie. or at least get teary.

  • for some odd reason, i don't get that sad watching this scene, like i was sad but not as sad as u think a little kid would get. i always thought the punishment dumbo's mom got was unfair cause the kid went into her encloser and started hrting her baby i think we all would do the same as dumbo's mom did if dumbo was our kid

  • Disney couldn't make movies like this anymore even if they had a mind to... Nowadays this would probably be considered too much for little kids to be able to process, and a scene like this one would be cut altogether. It's a terrible shame, really.

Really, though, there are a lot of old Disney movies that I bet are considered 'too adult' for kids of this generation, like Dumbo, and Fox and the Hound for sure... Probably Bambi too.

Rant aside, this song is incredibly touching.

  • I agree!

Films like this, the ones you mentioned and others like The Little Mermaid, Snow White, Hunchback of Notredame, Sleeping Beauty and the Lion King would all be rated PG if released these days.

  • thats messed up.She only did what she did was cause some mean, stupid brat was pulling, and hurting her baby...She was only protecting him!

  • ur soo right.. they dont make cartoon films like this anymore.. the old ones mean more and touch our hearts everytime we watch them.. xx

  • I agree with you I always cry on that song when I was child, and even now when I hear it I have tears in my eyes..

  • When I watched Dumbo on tape I always had to fast-forward this scene because watching it always made me upset.

  • this song can't be sung without tearing up/crying.

  • very nice and sweet and no one should be taken away from there mom.

  • Too sad to watch, I'm all choked up now :)

  • I always watched Dumbo when i was little. I love this scene! That scene always made me cry.. <3

  • That's me and my mum.

  • The song hadn't even started and I'm crying my eyes out. I love Dumbo.

  • when i was 6 years old and seeing this part made me cry because it made me think of my mom!

  • Poor little Dumbo. *sob*

  • Saw this when I was 4 years old and now 19 years later this song still gets to me.

  • Same here man...same here :D.

  • gosh everytime i get to this part of the movie i'm like, sobbing. but, if i had a chance this would be the lullaby i would sing. it just captures the feelins so perfectly.

  • This was always a heartbreaker for me. It's such a beautiful song and just so powerful.

  • This always makes me cry. When I was younger, and use to love this movie, I didn't understand, but seeing it now, I cry. :[

  • this film was made to make kids cry.. its so sad it still makes me cry now and im 17 lol... you gotta love ya mom dow.

  • Ich liebe Dumbo.

Der niedlichste Elefant der ganzen Welt.

  • this is me and what my child had from too many sources --- precious and thank you for bringing a sad circumstance to the world

  • This song turns me into a hormonal woman. Why is that!? Absolutely lovely.

  • buáaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa....

  • I cry every time I hear this :)

  • i always cry at this part.. its so sad.. and always i get a litle babysick.. disney really knows how to make us cry.. bambi, fox and hound, dumbo, lion king etc.

  • I love this song. Makes me cry all the time.

  • geez, this part always got me bawling....but yet it so beautiful...

  • ya know I started thinking: Because this movie shows a everlasting bond between a mother and son, this movie should be show every mother's day.

  • i agree...that and tarzan (the disney version)

  • i second every comment about this being sad and beutiful....whaaa....

  • Still makes me cry like i did as a kid on this seene.

  • it so sad...i can hardly finish watching it...

  • i love my mom

  • i remember crying during this part sooo sad

  • I haven't seen this clip for 21 years, and it's probably just as well because I'm sitting here weeping just like I did when I was 3. :( It's heartbreaking and beautiful.

  • when you hear this ong it makes you cry, just to think of a baby alone without a mother is just sad.

  • this is the sadest sadest moment....and the loveliest song

  • noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo

  • well here come the water works

  • This is tooooo sad....I can never watch this scene without tearing up.

  • i know what you mean.

  • This is possible the saddest thing ever thought of.

  • If this doesnt make you cry, you just simply have no heart. I'm heartless and I still cry.

  • I get what you're saying. I hate crying. I don't even cry at funerals! But this song always gets me!

    The tears!!!! They BLIND me!!!

  • This movie touches me in so many wyas. Its beautiful. I found out that Disney made a lot of this story about a special needs child. And this song represents how even though people treat her child badly she loves him completely. Listen to the words there's many lines that show that. Wonderful movie

  • Just like my mum. I have a learning disability which sometimes make everyday tasks hard for me but she's always been there. She told me once, when I was little, I was eating a packet of crisps and this bitch said "You're disgusting" right to my face! My mum, I tell you, she blew up.

  • That's awful. I'm sorry u had to experience that

  • I know. Why do people do these things?

  • I remember in a bathroom in the mall by myself and a woman was helping her son who had a mental disability. I was looking at him thinking oh wow a boy in a girls bathroom, and he's my age. She was starting to explain in a hassled voice why he was in there, but all i did was smile and say hi to him. He waved back and smiled too. He had a beautiful smile. I was only 8 at the time, so it stood out to me in my mind ever since about how a smile can make anyones day better.

  • 7 seconds into this and i'm crying already.

  • I know, right?

  • This cartoon is symbolizes how it was when slave parents got sold away from their children by the massa (master)on American plantations.

  • Damn I know I'm too old to cry at Disney movies, but geez this part always chokes me up.

  • this is the most sad part of the film and it makes me cry every single time i watch it.

  • I was just telling my wife that it made me bawl when I was a kid. Twenty seconds into watching it on here I was crying again. It's really beautiful.

  • Watched this on DVD yesterday. Bawled like a gibbering idiot at this scene. I guess it packs more of an emotional punch to those who have lost their mothers. Sigh...

  • I miss my mommy, too. ._.

  • I don't think you could be human if you didn't cry at this part...

  • this song made me cry as a kid, and it still does from time to time...

  • My most fav disney movie, since then i'd always buy a toy and make sure id bye a mom and a dad to it,lol.))

  • dumbo's just a baby.. why did they take his mom away from him when she was just protecting dumbo??the kids that went where dukmbo and his mom should be the 1 being punnished.. so basicually the elephants r being punished 4 what the kids did... thats sad in itself

  • it's becuz that stupid ringmaster thought that Mrs. Jumbo was attacking the kids

  • omg - bawling like a baby! I'd forgotten quite how lovely and sad this is!!!

  • I miss my momma!

  • this is basically the saddest disney scene ever. especially sad considering the way many elephants are treated in the world

  • Oh man... Dumbo was never my fave disney movie, but literally every time i hear this song i start to cry. Heck, i was trying to explain to a friend why the song makes me cry, and i described this clip, and by the time i got done explaining i was bawling...

    I miss my mum..

  • I am the same way, gets me every time!

  • this was such a sad movie! :(

  • how did the person who sang this not start crying in the middle of the song?

  • can i get the lyrics to the song?

  • pooor dumbo... he got taken from his mom *sniff sniff* poor dumbo... reminds my of the guinea pig we had named dumbo.. he didn't get 2 be with his mom cause he died.. he had big ears like Dumbo 2.. *sniff sniff* poor dumbo

  • So sweet, cant help but cry :D *sniff*

  • I'm glad I'm not the only one who hears this and just crys!

I remember it from when I was 3 years old.. 21 years ago. God I love this song so, so much.

  • love it

  • Man. Who DOESN'T cry when they see this?

  • Geez. . . I cannot watch this without weeping.

  • I've been very ill for the past two weeks and my mom has been at my bedside suffering sleepless night along with me. *crying* I love you mom. This always makes me cry....

  • whats the woman called who sings this version?

  • Bette Milder

  • sniff*

  • Very sweet clip. I remember seeing this movie as a child. Still brings back good memorys. My favorite recording of this song though would have to go to Michael Crawford. Michaels voice is so perfect for this gem of a song. If you haven't checked out MCs version of this song definetly try to do it. It to will bring you to tears. Thank you for uploading this great clip!

  • thanks for sharing the comment, quality may not be so great but the message is loud and clear

  • I swear, i cried when i was 6 years old, i cry now that i'm 16 years old, and it'll porbly still make me cry when i'm 56 years old, it's just so sweet. So sad, but so sweet...

  • i first watched this when i was 5 nearly 19 years ago and cried my eyes out then and i still cry!

  • You're not alone there.

  • I wish my mom and I were that close. I love her, and I know she loves me back, but it seems like she knows nothing about me. She put me in a program for depression, and I am NOT depressed. I know its just because she's worried, and cares. And this video is so beautiful. Thanks for posting. It made me cry :'(.

  • no problem i hopr that one day ur mom will understand

  • Geeez... I just had my first child a month ago, and seeing this video just made me cry so much. Now all I want to do is go hold her. Thanks for posting! Such a sweet and sad lullaby.

  • i cry all the time to this song its so sweet, but so sad as well

  • I've cried since the 1st time I saw this movie nearly 50 years ago. Very sweet lullaby. This was the closest Disney got to doing an MGM style cartoon.

  • they just don't make those cartoons like they used to

  • Aww that is so sad. Poor Dumbo he doesn't understand why he can't be with his mommy and he has to take comfort being rocked in his mom's trunk. Thanks for posting.

  • wow, i thought i wouldnt cry anymore to this

  • i know i still cry and im 16

  • This video makes me tear up every time because me and my mom used to listen to this song in her van before she died this year. I guess it just reminds me of her. I know how Dumbo feels, being separated from his mom so early in life. I guess.
