IT was a nice display of the jet truck but he fucked around too much with the throttle...just get it up there and thunder it down the truck instead of pedaling it like a effing idiot.
@PowerMirai85 Rofl, Europe is still trying to proove its better than the US? The point is Top Fuel dragsters do what they were built to do, to be the fastest accelerating vehicle in the world for a quarter mile. F1 cars do what they were built to do, be the fastest vehicle around a track. The Thrust SSC does what it was built to do, be the land vehicle with the highest top speed. Apples and Oranges. FYI the record run for the SSC was in the US, so how about US&Europe instead of US<Europe.
@clubdriver That was the dumbest comparison i've ever heard, ye so a top fueler will own any F1 car over a straight line, and when you get to a turn? I can go on and on how much a F1 car would own a top fuel car on a track, but it pretty obivious, aint it? Go figure next time you try to compare a drag car vs a track car.
nice vid and yes top fuel is the most advanced because there is 1000 horses per cylinder and no f1 is not youve got 12 cylinders and not as many horses and turbo cars will not reach top fuel blower cars ever ty an good night p.s. i work on a drag car my self so yes i do know for a fact good bye
@wattstherealist So your saying because top fuel has more horses / cylinder its a more technologly advanced sport? And since your saying F1 run 12 cylinder engines you obivously dont have a clue. First of all they run mostly 2.4L V8's with around 800bhp with limiter at 20'000 RPM, have been restricted to 18'000 RPM according to the 2009 rules. 2nd, top fuel run like 90% nitromethane and 10% metanol or sum? Dont know exact. F1 cars dont cause no engine would hold running that long on that mix.
Saw topfuelers at Santa Pod in the UK. Seen all forms of motorsport, this is way beyond anything. The noise almost pushes you back. Groundshaking, teethrattling noise and power! Awesome! These cars almost kid your mind into how long the quarter mile actually is. And watching the mechanics then strip the motors bare and rebuild them after EVERY run is just amazing.
Quick fact, if a car at running 200mph passed a topfueller waiting on the startline, the fueler would still beat it to the finish!
F1 was 1.5L Naturally aspirated in the sixties, then went to 3.5L N/A or 1.5L Turbo in the late 70's. In the early 90's, they went to 3.5L N/A only, then to 3.0L N/A V10's, then to 2.4L N/A V8's in 2006.
Don't believe me, check out the wikipedia on turbochargers and read 'competition cars' section. It says 'In Formula One, in the so called "Turbo Era" of 1977 until 1989, engines with a capacity of 1500 cc could achieve anywhere from 1000 to 1500 hp (746 to 1119 kW)'. I'm not insulting the draggers because top fuellers are awesome machines, but F1 engines are by far the most advanced competition engine in the world.
No he is right. Turbo F1 engines were 1000bhp per liter, (1500bhp qualifying spec from 1.5 liter). Current drag engines at 8.2 liter @ 8000bhp only yield 976bhp per liter. I have seen top fuelers and they really are amazing, the earth shakes when they go by! But when F1 engineers are given free reign, the true power of a combustion engine can be unleashed.
Now I could be adding a stupid comment here, or I could be right in what I'm saying, but I think the fuel plays a part in both sets of these figures as well, which actually works out in favour of the F1 engine (as nitromethane produces more power than fuel used in the F1 motorsport).
Regardless, I'm a huge fan of all motorsports, with drag racing being around the top of the list. Have attended all the main events in the UK for the last 11 years.
I could hear the unmistakable metal-flex of a malfunction after the 3 short afterburner bursts of the jet-semi at the end... I'll bet his heart sunk when he heard that... fans were a little upset, too.
No one does all out drag racing like America. American Top Fuel engines make by far more power per cubic inch than any engines on earth and are the only ones strong enough to handle that kind of power. These engines are capable of making even more power than they do, but because of restriction rules, they can't.
Then a Cox .049 on nitro can claim the very same and completely irrelevant status. What does this have to do with. It was a symmetrical formula that also proclaimed that a bumble bee can't possibly fly. Avoiding such integer resplendent non sense is your next challenge. I suggest you study the laws of diminishing returns for the simple answer to this problem.
Last time i went to the drag races was when i was around 10-12 years old... Definately going to go back this summer since i have an understanding of just what 8000 horsepower really is... Looks almost like god is kicking the dragsters off the line
you should come down to Rockingham when IHRA is here, the spectator stands are about where the wall is on the track, you feel like you are sitting on the track, and you get, oh 20 feet or so away from a top fuel launch, nothin beats it :)
Thanks for sharing - nice....

There is nothing that can compete against a top fueler.

Oh, one more thing, when you find those Top Fuel cars in the pits, try not to get to close when they're testing the engines.
if you see yellow smoke coming out, that's the "Top Fuel" exhaust, nitromethane. it'll burn like hell if you get the fumes in your eyes.
MrSpinkleswirth 3 years ago
Ok, first off, Excellent Vid. can watch this all day.
Secondly, you F1 jackasses need to post your comments on an F1 video. this is Top Fuel. NOTHING SIMILAR TO F1.
Lastly, 4:00 was the 4.58 qualifying time, am i correct?
MrSpinkleswirth 3 years ago
Why is anybody comparing F1 to Top Fuel? Hello. That's just dumb.
I may just remove all comments related to F1 and block whoever thinks F1 is even remotely similar to Top Fuel. Idot.

F1 engines during the turbo era were producing the same power per cube for much longer periods of time.
Kington99 3 years ago
Bull Shit! 2cyls. from a 08 version fuel motor make more power than ANY f-1 engine ever built.
sundog47 3 years ago
Your statement in no way contradicts mine, and as for bullshit:
Top Fuel, 800hp 500ci (8.2 litres) = 976 hp per litre
F1 1500hp, 1.5 litre = 1000hp per litre
Could i see what numbers you were working with?
Kington99 3 years ago
Top fuel = 8000 hp not 800.
sundog47 3 years ago
sorry typo, but as you can see 8000 was the number used in the calculation
