@GTA4Life666 clearly you dont have a big fucking bulky rackmount server for your audio/video editing.But recently I bought an Archos 43 tablet and I am quite impressed with it. I recorded a demo on a 450mhz pc like 10 years ago and the Archos will kill that pc in power. So now they just need multitrack app and for me to be able to plug in my Alesis USB mixer. But just imagine touchscreen audio/video editing that would be nice.

I'd love to see some healthy competition to the iPad, but this is not even a concept. It's a screen with someone tapping around to bring up windows and open other windows. The only UI discernible elements are the keyboard (0:30) and popovers (0:37), the popovers being taken straight from iPhone OS. There seem to be some left-hand controls on the windows, but it's not clear what they do and they look different on the two windows. There's still a lot of conceptual work to do here, it seems...

This is not necessarily true. You can't say for fact that the os is only one browser with different tabs. The final product has not yet been released.

Also, yes, the gadget in this video doesn't appear to be portable, but that's why it's just a concept. Possibly a concept for a much larger touchscreen desktop at some point? The tablet may be of similar design, but smaller.

However, the only downside to the macbook pro is that the processor is soldered in place and cannot be upgraded but I have a 3.06Ghz Intel Core 2 Duo and also 4GB Ram (i will upgrade to 8GB in the future)

I also live in the uk and my brother used his student discount to buy it for me, (got 15% off)

and I didnt say i liked it because it was cheaper or "shinier", i said i liked it better because it has far better performance and suits my personal requirements

Yeah but service should be consistent. I have had T-Mobile for almost 2 years and I love it. Their coverage is smaller but they do have great service. Their customer service is top notch. They even help customers with phones that they don't support, like unlocked iPhones.

in my opinion you're right there. Unlocked iPhone costs $1000 in australia , so i just bought a Touch off ebay and a nokia 5800. both only cost me $700 in total. The phone has its disadvantages, like woeful processor, memory space, but the audio quality of music is superb: leagues ahead of the ipod funnily enough. i'm interested in what the next iPhone will bring to the table though. hopefully it will be up to par with the features of my 5800 :P multitasking and video calling etc etc

apple computers are built at industry standard, they ARE amazing computers if your big into editing and multimedia production, but for general use, windows pc is the best.

i have an apple mac with os leopard and a pc with windows 7, i use both for different purposes though

i use the pc for gaming and the apple for editing and production because the apple has the better processing power for movie and sound editing in real time

however this is my opinion from personal experience as an editor

I'm not that stupid mate, ive been avidly working with computers for years and yeah, my apple macbook pro has a better and faster processor than my desktop gaming pc plus the fact that my mac has never once failed me when i am working on my music productions or video projects whereas the pc had really high cpu usage when using these softwares

over all, i paid the same amount for both systems (maybe a bit more for the pc) and the mac has performed 10X better than my pc could ever dream of

Touch screen technology has been mature for over 10 years now, there's a reason why such an interface is unproductive. It's just like a voice interface - the technology is mature, but useless.

Thought-control interfaces are slowly being introduced, and touch has really no reason to exist outside the small phone/pda/specia
