So you said in the beginning it will hurt. How can I know, that I am doing it wrong and that's why it hurts, or I'm doing it right and it hurts because I've just started it?

I can sing cleans and speak and it doesn't hurt but if I swallow it hurts a bit(slight burning feeling).

@theharvester97 i think i can help. but i still will like a second opinion. i believe why your throat gets raspy then its just shouting is because your throat is not yet accustomed to the screaming. my brother and his friend are going through the same thing. they are trying to switch from rap to metal and it is a huge leap. just keep practicing and you should get a lot better.

I like the explaination about your own voice and I completely agree. But all that said ur diaphragm isn't at ur belly button. Its under ur lungs (approximately an inch or so below ur ribs all the way around) and its jus a muscle useto push air out so technically ur always screaming with it u just have to learn how to use it. U know what ur doing I was just trying to help u be more knowledgeable about what ur talking about. Over all better than most videos I've seen

keep practising, that also depends on the kind of voice you use, if u use a high voice, you need a lot of air, so it is harder to do it, but if you use low vocals(growls) its easier, so my advice is keep doing it for months and you will notice your range becoming longer and louder, hope it helps

1 your wrong about a thing there is no such thing singing from your diaphram the sounds is generated in your back throat and in your vocal cords stop saying that diaphram thing people are just breaking their head on how to sing in a way that dosnt exist the rest of your tips are good :) diaphram is made simply to have a back up of air and gives you abit of power for your vocals learning how to breath properly is the key for singing :)
