He had to be arrested because he damaged property that wasn't his. How would you like it if you were on vacation and someone took your house and turned it into art?

In the end the company that owned the barrels liked what he did and didn't press charges. No harm no foul. Next time find out who makes the barrels and show them your idea.

Obviously people would be pissed when your property is used for something else but when the owner actually appreciates it, now that's something different.

The cops should just drop the charges if the company doesn't mind. This of course doesn't mean everyone should start going out and making art of company property, though.

i don't understand how a guy gets arrested for stealing from a person that doesn't want to press charges??  The city/state doesn't own those barrels, a private company does, and they love it. Why doesn't this surprise me coming from North Carolina? That state loves to arrest people (and no I've never been arrested) for minor petty items, turning nothing into something, convicting them, and then putting them on probation for 2 years. More people I know have been nailed for probation violation for anything, and then given another conviction, and then put back on probation. Its a state that does nothing but keep people in the DOJ "web" as a money maker.
