  • 0:51 cleanest para-diddles in history!!

  • the beginning sounds like the beginning of petes groove

  • Woo!

  • guy to the left of rodger is my HS snare tech!!!!! wooo

  • .....stick heights were definitely not better back then........the snares just didn't use the full rebound then, u can tell especially on the opening of the ditty. (right after the single hand accent tap thing)

  • @SS4xShinobi True. Only recently have drumlines/instructors learned how to properly play a snaredrum.

    /sarcasm

  • @cosmodrum1 haha. i was replying to someone else's comment about heights or something. I'm not saying anything bad about the line, just pointed something out. Everyone on the line was doing it, which is the point of a good line, uniformity. But I still stand behind my comment.

  • stick heights were better back then lol

  • @Geo6125 yeah and tendonitus was a lot more common too! :P

  • Roger Carter is a beast, thumbs up

  • I love this line. But I can never stand how the heights get progressively lower to the ends of the line. The accents from the dudes on the ends are nowhere near the accents of the dudes in the middle.

  • @neilyvanneily You try being 5'5" and playing with a bunch of guys 6"4". =)

  • @mdreppucci Good point!

  • aside from me almost shitting myself at jesus's epic drum skills, i noticed something odd. is that guy wearing a kilt?

  • @stickflip723 its a flannel LMAO

    i thought it was too.

  • wow bd drumline has changed! i like it better back then

  • If that guy at the end with the flannel shirt around his waist doesn't totally represent the 1990s, I don't know what does.

  • @EnterTheOcho horrible video cameras.

  • @EnterTheOcho i miss the 1990s. clothes wear more fun.

  • They tried to cut Roger's hair, but as soon as the idea came up, all the scissors in the area mysteriously shattered.

  • we play this for our High School Drumline. Every other drumine in the valley hates us. Becuase we always get a Drum Caption for marching band... We all love it.

  • damn, in the single sextuplets, look at Roger's hands. He's beasting it. Ahh the 90's. Btw, that is one sexy tap off.

  • wht year did scojo start playing or is here in this ideo

  • why is there a fag wearing his shirt as a dress in this video. they sound tight, shirt dress and underqualified fag boots disturbing.

  • @stealthbugger Pretty sure that "fag" is Kevin Fucking Murray.

  • can we get the blue devils to sound like this again please?!! this was beast

  • the snare two from center's left looks like guy fieri. hahaha

  • don't you love the 90's?

no arm, all wrist, extremely low taps? it's great.

  • @cwk1417 Yeah, when lines played at THREE INCHES.

  • hey this is better than 08verson

  • dave glyde my former drum teacher.

  • whats the deal with there not being any even minor upgrades to drum technology in 15 years? these yamahas are the exact same design as the corps get brand new this year. any other industry, companies get darwin-ed out of business for that kind of lack of innovation. whats going on?

  • Pearl is where bd is at now. I played on the new drums. Mixed with the Evans hybrids, the drums are money.

  • fuck yes

  • This is so sick......So fresh and so clean...

  • DAMN THATS CLEAN!!!1

    O_o

  • This was back when they were actually good.

  • i know like 1000000 times more about the blue devils than u, and i am right, but this is the bd's cus they changes todynasty drums in like 2000 sumthin, my mistake.

  • Comment removed

  • @lilrev718 Silence douche lord! The amount of anus you have eaten is beginning to affect my bandwith!

  • This was before they switched sponors. Yamaha was an older sponsor.

  • And guess who their sponsor is now? Does lilrevdouchetaco know? I don't think he does. He thinks they still march Dynasty.

  • Idiot.

  • roger carter = beast

  • @LAKings0101 Yeah I have been looking for his solos on here.....nothing

  • wow. thats alot of wrist, like 100 percent lol

  • Loved it when dudes concentrated on playing clean rather than "grooving" with their feet spread and heads bobbing. This is the real deal.

  • amen

  • So clean clear and crisp. I like this line playing ditty more than I do recent BD lines.

  • @SweetWilly013 This is the first year for Ditty. The one in the video was the third version that year. The first version had the ending from the 82' opener, but was hard on the hands if you were cold. The second was pretty cool but it was designed to be played faster, Kevin decided he didn't like it and put this ending in around May.

  • They're tenors sound so weird here though.

  • i didnt know wolverine teched.

  • woot! and i was born 11 days later!!! yay i was born after greatness!

  • and if this is greatness, i was born before greatness

  • anyone have pdf for robbie bucks?

  • Comment removed

  • After Robbie Bucks I was expecting Chug not Ditty. Miss the Float Lines.........

  • I'm pretty sure that somewhere, Float is still teaching drumlines (and playing trash cans at Disneyland). But, I know what you mean. I'm happy to say I got to play both the "old" and "new" BD warm-ups.

  • this is the absolute BEST version of ditty out there.

  • This is the best recorded video of Ditty out there

  • Fo Sho. Definitely the cleanest and groove-iest

  • best in the history of bd

  • Anyone else think Roger Carter's singles are uneccesarily high? lol but still awesome. =]

  • Unneccesarily? They're the best part of the vid...

  • thats why i put "but still awesome". Roger Carter is the man. haha. I think everyone wishes they could play singles like that.

    =]

  • ok roger carter's left hand is awesome, but why isnt everyone else doin it?

  • Because they can't!! :D

  • Stick heights...

  • Is this at Marshall?

  • Hey they don't have the backstick in this one.

  • wow i love the sound of the tap off

  • Back when the lines weren't pussies and didn't have stands!

  • Dude...the sound quality on this makes it sound so powerful its unbelievable

  • God I love the ditty.

  • the best drumline

  • all years of ditty were ridiculous

i love 94 BD but even though they didnt win at championships, the 95 Carpe Noctem Show is my favorite all time.

  • they most certainly did win at championships.

  • yeah they definitely did win.

  • i love the speed, and i love the stick hights

  • Highly recommend paying attention to the dynamic range the technique enables, thus the stick heights and the "stick lows" as it were ... impeccable.

  • man look at those vertical heights!

  • i like this version better

  • damn, look at carter's heights. if the guys on either side of him played with those heights, you would get "click click click" the whole time.

  • I'm standing to the right of Roger as your looking at the vid....he used to hit me in the face with his left tip!!! lol

  • BD: Roger, you have to cut your hair

    RC: I never cut it.

BD: well since u can play the sextuplets at vertical, we'll let it slide.

  • hahahahaha honestly.

  • @Daemondrummer Whats does BD and RC stand for? Sorry all i know is Roger, because you said it, lol.

  • anyone notice the guy in the kilt?

  • ....it's a shirt tied around his waist...

  • wow way to go

  • @alanDRUMnett they had a bag piper that year

  • lol, my drumline always talks of the time jesus was the center snare of the blue devils

  • lmao

  • @thaiguy20fromla

literaly its like the last supper, Jesus in the centre and his diciples beside him lol

  • anyone know where i can find the beginning bucks excercise? Robbie Bucks i think its called.

  • wow, this sounds a bit different. Is the captin a girl or a dude with really long hair. it might be cuz that was the look back then.

  • the cpt was a dude

his name is Roger Carter... he was the king back then for sure

that was when i was HS, damn i am old now this sh** looks hella dated, love that flannel lol

  • Look at modern drum line techs. They still dress the same. It's annoying.

  • Did the tapoff for Grievous Groove take influence from this? Sounds like it.

  • I was thinking the same.

  • No, the tap off for Grievous is based of a drum lick from the song "Defy The Laws of Tradition". In fact, all of Grievous is based of that song...

  • really? thats cool. i didn't know that.

  • by primus?

  • by primus?

  • This tapoff came from Roger Carter's hair.

  • Roger Carter!

  • Blue Devils at their best

  • 94... back when drum corps actually HAD tenors.... they're creeping in the alto range now... and they were old yamahas... therefore its going to sound like crap... and yes the vid is 13 years old... give it a break.

  • actually, the current trend is the tenors are going back down...it was mid 80's when everyone was trying to bongo them up...you are a bit new to all this, arent ya?

  • Don't insult him. The number of people still cranking them up into the alto range is significant enough to support his claim - it's more varied from corps-to-corps today than it has ever been. You are a bit of a douche bag, aren't ya?

  • he wasnt insulting anyone, your the douche bag.

  • Go die in a house fire, troll.

  • wow what an insult

  • PURE SKILLS - SO FRESH!

  • lol its surprising to see someone that good to notice the tenor quality. or maybe its just that the camcorder is over 14 YEARS OLD?!?! lol don't worry about the tenors! its about the snares

  • Good god, someone tune the tenors.

  • God. You just gotta love those sweet ass tap heights.

  • roger carter is hella tite... i met him... he teaches snare at skips...

  • Can someone get me the music to that little begining lick, "Robbie Bucks", or whatever. That would be greatly appreciated.

  • Look at Carters Left hand! Vertical everytime!

  • no...it's not Vertical...it goes past Vertical everytime!

  • sweet

  • This was the year that BD revolutionized drumming and split parts for snares and the epitome of high sticking. Scott Johnson is a genius.

  • Scott Johnson is a genius, but I thought Star '93 epitomized high sticking :)

  • This happend to be the very first year Dev's had ditty, and the only year I liked it. :p Nice BD show that year.

  • WOW

    so in sink!

  • sync

  • as in syncronization

  • no he means like forks/spoons and dishes. lol

  • It's call Robbie Bucks. Sweet beat before all the beefy stuff.

  • What was that thing in the beginning. Sounded like it was from Pete's Groove
