  • You need to be quite careful about Rover gas turbines. The one that was at Derby Lonsdale in the early 80's had a cracked turbine disc (I did a lab test on it). There were critical speeds that it couldn't be run at as the crack would grow - very quickly. You really don't want to be anywhere near a gas turbine when a turbine disc pops out in 3 big fast moving bits.

  • I find it hard to think of a gas turbine engine being called an antique! Nice little utility engine you had there though. It would have been fin to take to an antique engine show and run up for display.

  • what is that fuzz noise in the background

  • @honeybunchickens

    hardcore music ^^

  • Can you tell me what music you used I would like to download it.

  • 60hp at 10gal/ hour.. thats terrible

  • Nice for a old engine show!

  • I want one!.. Im a AME in training and that would definatly be a sweet toy to have kickin around

  • all Royal Navy ships used to have a Rover, attached to a water pump, so that in the event of damage/flooding, the hoses would pump out of the ship, a huge amount of water, for damage control

  • doesn't produce much thrust. It was built to turn an output shaft.

  • how are you containing the thrust? That must be anchored to the ground?

  • 45 liter per hour. Impressive consumption. And only 60shaft hp. this device needs a regenerative pipe system badly.

  • The video lasts 26 seconds because on the 27th everyone within 150ft was killed in an explosion.

  • so whats the purpose the engine is made for....cooking food

  • bet no dogs live round here

  • really nice, 5 stars.

  • y its not tryin to move?

  • hi its some really great stuff, ive certain FAQ'S

  • cuttin the lawn redneck style

  • what red neck has a turbine engine?

  • honestly i dont know

  • more like burning it off XD!

  • More like a deep woods leaf blower.

  • cool flame!

  • The engine surges just as it reaches 100%

Check the compressor isn't dirty or air intakes restricted!

  • They are almost impossible to find in the United States, but there are quite a few Rover 1S60 turboshaft engines available as war surplus in the UK.

  • These Rover units are fitted to the Nimrod aircraft which is still in service with the RAF as an APU for providing starting air for the main spey ecus.
