Peter, thank you for uploading this, I have the dvd Born Free & Living Free, can you tell me if Forever Free was made into a movie..... Also very good info on Joy & George.. I seen this movie as a child & my parents had to remove me from theather, I never seen whole movie till I was 18 & when Joy states " She was born free & has the right to live free" I totally cry like a baby.... Living Free I only watched once because I could not bare that one scene with Elsa.....
This brings back some wonderful memories! I still have the original paperbacks Born Free, Living Free and Forever Free which i bought when i was at school (i am 53 now) and this film and the music score brings a lump to my throat whenever i have the opportunity to watch and listen. Just love it.
I found the book LIVING FREE on Barnes and Noble for US$5.00 and have ordered it as my curiosity has been raised as to Elsa`s cubs and what happened to them. Also Christian the Lion - Which I amsure you are well versed on also came to George. Did Christian wander off wiht his "family" only to comer back later in 1972 ? I gather shortly after that reunion Christian was never seen again. This has raised my interest and will find asmany books as possible about the lions that were with the Adamsons
@PeterFormaini It will be very interesting reading when I get the two books. I doubt that anyone is doing the work of the Adamsons, due to the constant fighting between terrorist groups. It would also take a very exceptional person who has the ability to interact with such majestic animals, and raise another Elsa . Elsa was a one in a million, who loved and trusted those that were around her constantly
Elsa died in 1965 in George Adamsons arms from a nasty tick bite. She was only five years old when she died. This video clip is just a recreation of those wonderful days with Elsa not in 2009
@PeterFormaini Many thanks for the correction - mental aberation on my part. It was very late when I posted that.In 1960 I was about 13 or 14 when my Father who used to go to Nairobi on business got me a signed autogrphed book " Born Free " Its only in the last few days that I read the book for the first time in 30 + years. I do recall that Elsa`s cubs were rescued by George , but dont remember what happened to them, or how long they stayed with George. Perhaps you could enlighten me
@steinwaygrande1 Elsa's 3 cubs - Jespha, Gopa, and Little Else, were raised and trained by Joy and George for quite some time. Their story is told in the book LIVING FREE, the sequel to BORN FREE. :D :D

Any chance someone here would know who the lioness was that doubled for
Elsa, or who was the trainer? She certainly appeared to be quite comfortable
in the presence of humans.

@cdnzoobud Several were used, including a brother/sister pair for the final scenes. They were named 'Boy' and 'Girl'.
Others used were named Henrietta, Mara, Ugas, and 'the cubs' (you can guess who the latter played.)
All were handled by their individual trainers.

@steinwaygrande1 Christian was seen one final time - then never seen again. I assume he acclimated to the wild completely.
After you finish LIVING FREE, you will want to buy the third book in the series - FOREVER FREE. :D :D

@steinwaygrande1 Yes, I am well aware of Elsa's history.
The date in the heading is the day I uploaded the video file. It has nothing to do with Elsa.

@steinwaygrande1 Also - just to correct you, Elsa died in January of 1961 - not 1965, She and her siblings were rescued by George in 1956. :D
