This Jim, the percussion instructor at JF. First I want to apologize for Falco91 and his arrogant comments. Please know that he/she do not represent our band and program what-so-ever. I will give credit where credit is due. You had a great show last year and I was very entertained by it. Also I am a good friend of Teddy's and had the priviledge to watch your battery in the lot last year and Nats. and man you guys were smokin' hot. Have a great Spring break!

I absolutely love the start of this show. Guard is amazing, the music is perfect, and for once, I'm not completely put off by the voice over. It works so well, and the theme is so unique. What an outstanding group.

esprit de corps is not crowd favorite...it is the marines award given to the band that represents pride, professionalism, and something else...we got it last year at nationals.

I was in the crowd and the crowd response wasn't for your band, it was for your trumpet soloist and I will give credit where credit is deserved, that young man is an amazing trumpet player.

He is an All-American...and he would not be in the badn if not for the effort of several band members, this was only his second year in marching band and he's a senior.

To falco 91. You can say what you want about Bassett but they have proven beyond a doubt they are the best band in Virginia right now. That's why they are the Virginia 5A open state champs and finished 2nd in Nationals on Saturday night. And I am not saying that because I am a biased parent. I'm saying it because I had numerous people in Annapolis come up to me and tell how amazing these kids are and that they should have won. Can you say that about JF now that it's all over?

All I can say is that one music judge was wrong...the other two had us placed 4th and 6th, they placed us 15th. I thought Dartmouth was amazing and deserved to win.

I also had many people walk up to myself and comment on how great we were and that our score was inaccurate.

And band aside, our Drumline still beat Bassett's.

Seriously, like I said last time, Bassett is the best band in Virginia, by far. Idk what this attitude with JF and their crap don't stink is coming from, but when you score near the lower end of the competition, that should tell you you're not. JF is very far from being real competition with Bassett. I'll be nice and say you still are one of the best bands on VA. Work on a more comprehensive show with more challenging music and drill, and your scores will get much better.

If you want to watch the most recent video you should look up, "Bassett band 2009", and look for the press box recording. That's the best recording we have on here so far.

Oh and to falco 91, we're still waiting to be rocked.

Wow people really? Some people get a little too into it. I go to JF as well and Bassett and Cary are going to be stiff competition but thats what we like. Perhaps we should see how the scores layout in competitions that we are all in and THEN establish some conclusions...

Okay, I have to agree with Oatm3al. Virginia has a very week marching band program....Bassett, Jefferson Forest, Deep Run, Herndon, Hickory, Chantilly, and a few more are as good as it gets. None of these would stand on a national Bands of America level whatsoever. Bassett comes the closest, placing 3rd a few years back at a BOA regional. I saw JF at BCI, and I really dont mean to sound rude, but Bassett will most likely beat you. They have a superior guard, great drumline, and very nice music.

just a note... not a criticism... BCI was JF's first marching performance of the season, we were just getting our sea-legs so assuming our competition season based on BCI is not well planned out assumption.

This was Bassett's first competition, in September, without the last half of the show. To assume Bassett's show is boring is incomplete. I haven't been involved in music for 11 years now to not notice things. My prediction? Bassett will win guard, percussion, and probably music. If I recall, the comment section is just for that: comments. So I'm going to establish some predictions first.

you have not seen us perform, we beat deep run fairly easily at gw danville a few weeks back, and took down elizabethton last week (one of the better bands there)

cary is good, and i would not be surprised if they won, but bassett will be relocated to third this weekend. and will find themselves trailing JF for the next few weeks as well.

Okay, I've done music for 11 years now, so here is my personal view-

The colorguard, while always being pretty strong, has grown so much and done so great in the past few years. You're now on BOA levels with West Johnston, Kiski area, etc etc....Great Job.

Percussion has also grown and done so well. A little room for improvement, but seriously, y'all are doing a great job.

The band-this is def. the weakest point. Very weak marching, alot of foot phasing, etc. However, the music sounded very good
