@DDiscus54 Read the history books. The Yak 11 was derived from the Yak3U so the put a 7 cyl radial in front and a second seat in fornt of the pilot and there you have the Yak 11. The one flying is a yak 3u
@DutchYak ...Didn't mean to get your panties bunched up there DutchYak. Nice to hear from someone who has first hand knowledge of the plane in the video....my point is that it was not a La-anything...just a glorified Yak...either a modified--Yak 11 (two seats modified to one--wantabe fighter from trainer) or a Yak3 inline fighter converted to radial power "u" which is very cool but still just a gloried Yak. Very cool airplane either way...it is modified and not an original "u".
That's very interesting - anyone can confirm that? It was told everywhere over the show, that it was Yak-3, but could even the pilot who was told to be the one telling about that plane - be wrong?
@realdevlin Hi there a bit late reaction from my side ( the yak3 pilot ) but if possible we would like to use your film of the yak at the airshow. you can contact us via anjarick@kabelfoon.nl kind regards Rick

Stop arguing. This is Yak-3U, rare version with air-cooling engine.

it seems to be a Lavochkin 7, and because it's climb ratio it has a powerfull engine

@DutchYak
For some reason I cannot put links into the message, so just google for images of Yak-3 and La-5(7).
Major differences are:
1. Yak-3 had water cooling engine while this plane has air cooling one.
2. There is no big air intake under plane's body.
3. Otherwise this plane has large exhaust holes on both sides of body, as all Lavochkin's planes.

It is an YAK3U-PW... and was build in 1995...it is an reconstruction from a YAK3 from 1943...

To nie Jak 3 tylko przerobiony na jednomiejscowy samolot Jak 11. It's not Yak 3 but rebuilt to one seat airplane Yak 11!!!.

Single seat Jak11 or some could claim a Jak3u either way it's a glorified Yak 11, not a La5,7, or 9 or Yak3.

Good video. The only problem here that the plane on the video isn't Yak-3. It seems to be some model of Lavochkin (probably, La-5)
