RE5 was an amazing game, but I agree, it was not a good RE game. I miss the classics where zombies were lurking behind every corner and when no such thing as the plagas existed.
The only scary moment in re4 was when on the island that flaming zombie charges toward you. And Even that wasn't very scary -.- I miss the old resident evil games. Not to mention RE5 sucks!

RE4 was decent at best, not scary (except MAYBE the regenerators) RE5 blew, not scary in the least, repetitive. A shiny, beautiful looking turd. I'm perfectly fine staying with the classics til capcom pulls their heads from their asses and makes the franchise as good as it once was.

Okay maybe I misspoke about...months ago. But after I thought about it I believe that RE4 is basically a plot filler. I believe that they'll come back as strong as ever when they make new games. And if I remember correctly I didnt say anything about the game not being fun. I loved that game, I just felt like it lacked something in the storyline department. all i gotta say REremake was great, they should give all the series this treatment, the RE5 was balls, lame and campy. RE4 was decent. resident evil 1.2 and 3 had the gratest plotlines of the games they had zombies, big creatures, puzzles which made the game last longer and to test you mind in 4 and 5 they lost it all and gave you a tommygun and rocket launcher with infinite ammo thats not how a game should be played

Compared to the awesomeness that be the RE4 and RE5 games, the first trilogy of Resident Evil games were really not good and lucklaster.
The first three chapters of the game had slaggish and slow controls for the characters' movement whereas the shooting was nigh impossible due to the bad aiming scheme and the horrendous visual field.
I am glad that the RE series took a drastic change of direction with #4 and #5. In fact It's the only time I really became interested and passionate with it.

The only thing that makes a case in what you 're saying is that the new RE games are more gun-ho shooting style oriented than the previous ones.
RE is not a shooter, its a survival horror. I liked the fixed camera angles because it adds an extra element of suprise, and sometimes puzzles do get abit irritating but thats what made Resident Evil popular
4 and 5 are just action shooter games, nothing really scary, hardly no thought required............like most of the games out today

They require much thinking while playing them through and they separate themselves from the vast majority of today's mindless shootings. The old trilogy of RE games were not that good compared to the new ones and ESPECIALLY RE4.
The 4th chapter of the series is widely regarded as the best in the franchise.
That is your opinion, i do like RE4 dont get me wrong, but i prefer the slower pace of the older games.
But no matter what you think, the older ones are much more "survival horror" than 4 and 5, especially since most of the enemies drop ammo in 4 and 5....in the old ones (especially REmake) ammo was mostly scarce making it more of a challenge to SURVIVE :)

I completely disliked the old RE trilogy of games with the bad controls, the slow pace and the awful camera.
RE4 and 5 are survival horror games at its finest. To say the whole story (especially for the chapter #4), they are even better examples of the genre since the gameplay scheme of the old ones failed completely and it was dropped.
The story in #4 and 5 is also a league better and the fact that enemies drop ammo is because they have it on them since they are not just mindless zombies.
I disagree with you myself (only to some extent though). RE4 and 5 are still survival horror games and even better representatives of the genre in that regard. I agree though that #5 was more action shooting oriented than it should have been.
All the Resident Evil franchise has a good atmosphere and story involved in its games... to me the newest games are the ones that took that story even further and improved the gameplay to such an extent that they can be considered the true rebirth of the survival horror games.

Resident Evil #1, #2 and #3 had bad controls, awful camera works and terrible shooting schemes.
RE4 and #5 are the games that really brought back the true survival horror game experience and especially #4 with its outstanding story, pace, atmosphere and amazingly good gameplay mechanics. I never liked very much the mindless Zombies scenario whereas the Ganados and the Cultists were more appealing and smart as enemies.
I love both the classic RE games and the new ones. I loved the mystery, atmosphere and the enemies and exploration of the old games, but i also love the action, upgrade system, improved VA/story of the new games as well as the over the shoulder camera and laser sight aiming.
If they could some how mix all of these things then we could have a great game. I feel that the lost in Nightmares scenario was a good example

what was hard about the aiming? it auto aims for you so i dont see why you had any problems, even with auto aim off its still pretty easy to aim. I do prefer the new camera style though, I just miss the classic RE feel of the old games

obviously if you like outbreak you have no good taste in RE games, the only redeeming quality was that it could be played online which was a big step for playstation 2.
hm, methinks you didn't play it very much. You could write a book about the outbreak characters they are so deep. I would type out everything, but that would require alot more then the 500 characters youtube allows for comments. Also, the partner AI has nothing to do with gameplay. Outbreak perfected the old style of Resident Evil, and online play was the best around.

resident evil 1.2 and 3 had the gratest plotlines of the games they had zombies, big creatures, puzzles which made the game last longer and to test you mind in 4 and 5 they lost it all and gave you a tommygun and rocket launcher with infinite ammo thats not how a game should be played

Code Veronica was like a badly made horror romance novel put on screen. 4 was not really a story, just a hostage situation. And 5 was the culmination of all of them put together.

@pulidos824 As far as I see it those 4 games were just fan pleasers, but it didn't really reveal anything we didn't already know. 4 was a reinvention and had nothing to do with RE except three characters were loosly tied into the story. Then RE5 added that Wesker wanted the plagas from 4 to become a new species and evolve the human race with the all popular tentacle monster. 4 and 5 broke so far away from the zombies that it was like a new story line, but with the exception on actiony cutscenes

Like if you didn't already know she was the freaking bird bitch since the commercials came out months before the game was released. Too predictable. 1 and 2 FTW 3-5 worth playing, but not for the story element.

Compared to the awesomeness that be the RE4 and RE5 games, the first trilogy of Resident Evil games were really not good and lucklaster.
The first three chapters of the game had slaggish and slow controls for the characters' movement whereas the shooting was nigh impossible due to the bad aiming scheme and the horrendous visual field.
I am glad that the RE series took a drastic change of direction with #4 and #5. In fact It's the only time I really became interested and passionate with it.

Because it's pointless to say that the puzzles in the old games were that much better. Again, I never felt that a puzzled intrigued me in the old trilogy but not even in the RE #4 and #5 for that matter. I didn't even speak about the puzzles in my original post.
The only thing that makes a case in what you 're saying is that the new RE games are more gun-ho shooting style oriented than the previous ones.

RE is not a shooter, its a survival horror. I liked the fixed camera angles because it adds an extra element of suprise, and sometimes puzzles do get abit irritating but thats what made Resident Evil popular
4 and 5 are just action shooter games, nothing really scary, hardly no thought required............like most of the games out today
thats why i prefer the old-school ones, they were different,original and actually required you to think and not just run around like rambo

They require much thinking while playing them through and they separate themselves from the vast majority of today's mindless shootings. The old trilogy of RE games were not that good compared to the new ones and ESPECIALLY RE4.
The 4th chapter of the series is widely regarded as the best in the franchise.

That is your opinion, i do like RE4 dont get me wrong, but i prefer the slower pace of the older games.
But no matter what you think, the older ones are much more "survival horror" than 4 and 5, especially since most of the enemies drop ammo in 4 and 5....in the old ones (especially REmake) ammo was mostly scarce making it more of a challenge to SURVIVE :)
plus they totally screwed up the story in 4 and 5, just my opinion though on that one :)

I completely disliked the old RE trilogy of games with the bad controls, the slow pace and the awful camera.
RE4 and 5 are survival horror games at its finest. To say the whole story (especially for the chapter #4), they are even better examples of the genre since the gameplay scheme of the old ones failed completely and it was dropped.
The story in #4 and 5 is also a league better and the fact that enemies drop ammo is because they have it on them since they are not just mindless zombies.

All the Resident Evil franchise has a good atmosphere and story involved in its games... to me the newest games are the ones that took that story even further and improved the gameplay to such an extent that they can be considered the true rebirth of the survival horror games.

Resident Evil #1, #2 and #3 had bad controls, awful camera works and terrible shooting schemes.
RE4 and #5 are the games that really brought back the true survival horror game experience and especially #4 with its outstanding story, pace, atmosphere and amazingly good gameplay mechanics. I never liked very much the mindless Zombies scenario whereas the Ganados and the Cultists were more appealing and smart as enemies.

I love both the classic RE games and the new ones. I loved the mystery, atmosphere and the enemies and exploration of the old games, but i also love the action, upgrade system, improved VA/story of the new games as well as the over the shoulder camera and laser sight aiming.
If they could some how mix all of these things then we could have a great game. I feel that the lost in Nightmares scenario was a good example

yeah but it doesn't work, Lost in nightmares sucked balls, i regret badly paying 5 bucks for it, there was nothing in the DLC but the classic mansion and those stupid Executioner mutation looking things, it fucking sucked, plus extremely short, capcom couldn't even try to make us happy by throwing at least a few REAL zombies in it... was a few zombies too much to ask? and no, the zombies that grab you dont count. BUT I agree with you, i love the old and new Resident Evils for what they are.

hm, methinks you didn't play it very much. You could write a book about the outbreak characters they are so deep. I would type out everything, but that would require alot more then the 500 characters youtube allows for comments. Also, the partner AI has nothing to do with gameplay. Outbreak perfected the old style of Resident Evil, and online play was the best around.
