It was my dream to be a pilot too! But, my grades couldn't make it. It's one big regret in my life!
However, I took a opportunity years ago to become a cabin crew at the tail end of the fuselage even though it's not as good as sitting in the front end of the fuselage as a pilot as I have been dreaming of.
WTH! Thinking to myself now! I had traveled and seen and touched the world too all these years.
However, I still want to be a pilot in my next life!
if u do the math everybody that asks questions about what the instruments do or what there doin. about 80% of those people are flight simmers. me too but i pretty much know everything about planes.
@a44977 VNAV is when the autopilot/flight director fly the plane according to the vertical (climb/descent) profile that the crew has loaded into the flight management computer, FL CH (Flight level change) can be selected instead to make the airplane climb or descend at a pre selected speed (on the glareshield)
@a44977 I think It was way before this video (although I'm not entirely sure)..Its usually when the ATC starts giving the pilots vectors for the approach (they also disengage LNAV at this point)
@a44977 Depends, could be on your approach to slow and manage your speed on your own. Otherwise leave the VNAV on and enter in the speeds into your FMC with the altitude and it will do it self. FL CH is recommended though.
A pilot has to pay at least 120.000 euros for his commercial flying license and finding a job nowadays is nearly impossible. But when you eventually are a pilot then you have one of the best jobs in the world.
@sonic187sq divide your amount by two and that's pretty much the minimum you'd have to pay to earn your ATPL(f) + CPL + MCC while going through modular training with a nice flight school... Ab initio training can cost up to 95k euros but why pay more for less total time in the end ! And it's even cheaper overseas. and no it's not impossible to find a job, there's plenty of work in the general aviation sector all around the world, before applying for the airlines. ;-)
@MyhreProductions : When to turn off the AP is all about company policy. Some companies leave it on until minimums, but others disengage it way sooner. I've seen Belgian companies disconnecting at 10.000 ft and higher.
@beaum1cah it WAS my dream too! but now it's a reality,, i swear to god! just go for it,, you will never regret it,, and know that you only have one life to make choices,, :)
i have a question and I am desperate to know the answer.
My Granddad has Glaucoma and so did his father.....my uncle may have it aswell but its not confirmed. Even if i dont have it when I apply to be a pilot..... would the fact that its in my family restrict me from being a pilot.
@TheAnsarias No. Even if you do have it, you can get your PPL (with restrictions). It's never the end of the world. Just remember, there are blind pilots out there.
@Avatarnightfuryblade It's not my video, it's real so obviously the video should be filmed from inside the cockpit, I expect that there won't be anyone who would fly with camera on the nose!
@Stickman698 yeah it depends: if they have a headset connected, you can´t hear the atc com. if there is no headset connected you can hear the atc throughout the cockpit and the pilots communicate via micro with atc instructors
Great Video. I can't wait to fly the 747 in the Lufthansa Training Sim. I love this plane so much. LoL@ the landing checklist. " Speedbreak? armed! , landing gear? ..... aeehhhh down!......" :-D
@The12rspc Not really. You can't get in the cockpit anymore, since 9/11. Only way you'll be able to even see the cockpit, is to get officially invited with a pass so you can sit in the cockpit for 1 flight. (not on all planes)
OKAY! This shows that pmdg did a REALLY GOOD JOB! I am aware that this is real, but, on the flight sim, a pmdg 747 could literally be used to copy this approach. WOW! GREAT FLYING GUY!

@Pegasus1507198915. The autopilot uses a fixed bank angle. Mostly 25 degrees. Only when we fly at high altitudes (above 30.000ft) the autopilot adjust this bank angle to lower values

@DHMaNiAc770 Most countries have government AIS pages with free charts. Some key words like AIS or aeronautical chart or notam and the name of the country on google should do the trick. Google knows and sees (almost) everything. You just have to refrase your question sometimes. Some links for Europe on this site: eurocontrol.int/aim/public/standard_page/web_eur.html
what is FLCH SPD? and why at the top center of the left screen appear all the time LOC and not APP at the end?I cant stop watching your videos =D they are great
@DHMaNiAc770 At the top of the PFD (screen) you will see the status for throttle to the left, the horizontal selection at the center and vertical selection to the right. The horizontal mode is LOC. FLCH means the autopilot will mantain the vertical speed needed to keep that airspeed. APP was pressed at 1:39, you can see GS light up at white below FLCH. When the glide slope is intercepted it changes to green and you'll see the pilot change the selected alt to missed approach (3000).
@DHMaNiAc770 It's shown in the bottom corners of the middle screen. There's a VOR/OFF/ADF switch beside the VOR/MAP/PLN selector at the EFIS controls that must be selected and the VOR must be at range for DME to show.
Amazing video. That's a really cool perspective! Thanks for sharing!

is part of the IFR flight plan.
It does happen on flights that heavy aircraft are assigned to do a VFR, only if runways close mostly due to whether conditions.
But in modern times anno 2011, almost all big airports and many smaller airports have all ILS runways.
Many international airports only have ILS runways.
That doesnt mean VFR flights cant land their, they wont use their ILS as its not part of their flight plan.

@DHMaNiAc770 Most countries have government AIS pages with free charts. Some key words like AIS or aeronautical chart or notam and the name of the country on google should do the trick. Google knows and sees (almost) everything. You just have to refrase your question sometimes. Some links for Europe on this site: eurocontrol.int/aim/public/standard_page/web_eur.html

what is FLCH SPD? and why at the top center of the left screen appear all the time LOC and not APP at the end?I cant stop watching your videos =D they are great
DHMaNiAc770 9 months ago
@DHMaNiAc770 At the top of the PFD (screen) you will see the status for throttle to the left, the horizontal selection at the center and vertical selection to the right. The horizontal mode is LOC. FLCH means the autopilot will mantain the vertical speed needed to keep that airspeed. APP was pressed at 1:39, you can see GS light up at white below FLCH. When the glide slope is intercepted it changes to green and you'll see the pilot change the selected alt to missed approach (3000).

@Pedrovra aaaa thnx for replying but i have a last question XD how you can see your DME from a waypoint or stasion?
DHMaNiAc770 9 months ago
@DHMaNiAc770 It's shown in the bottom corners of the middle screen. There's a VOR/OFF/ADF switch beside the VOR/MAP/PLN selector at the EFIS controls that must be selected and the VOR must be at range for DME to show.
