that is true, it's better in same cases, in which the voices have to sound more clean, to understand it. But, in this case (music, beck for example) I think that the original version is the one that is more "accord" with the music, independently of the voice's clarity.
Anyway, we have to repect all that people that give their voices to a draw, because it is really difficult. It is usually the original version the one that is mor difficult so, I prefer usually that work but, I listen to all
