  • Good job, I like it!

  • OMG.... that car is breathtaking

  • Good work, nice car

  • this must be a 914 with a 928 engine & transaxel

  • Very nice ! I wish we could have heard the wonderful music from the 928 engine.

  • Hazard shift rod placement. Just driveing along and then comes fu#%¤ing speedpump that shifts gear to fifth...... :) Looks nice. Its just my opinion but i would never put heavy v8 to small european sportscar. It just kind of feels so wrong.

  • All that and no start up or revs? Worthless cameraman, awesome car.

  • D-D-D-D-D-Dreeeeeeaaaam car! :D

And affordable too, so that's always a plus. :)

  • SWEET! I once built a 916 replica - used an 'SC motor with the usual updates (pressure fed cam chain tensioners - air box valve) but this is incredible. The flares (steel) aren't cheap - nor are any of the "important" parts! Nicely done- 'brings back very fond thoughts- THANKS

  • Hi I like your 914 very nice , I am thinking about rebuilding a 914 along the lines of yours. Which gearbox did you use how was the gear linkage routed ..... thanks very much .

  • Beautiful! I really like the vents in the front if the rear fenders. I never would have thought of that.

  • Turn it on!!!!!

  • what happens if you get bumped into in the rear?

your tranny linkages would be fucked... only thing i find odd/dislike about 914's

  • I want one, or at least a "How-To Do-It" write up for doing something like that. If there is please email me justin_evertatsbcglobaldotnet. Thanks!!

  • I love the 914-6's! it's funny how a little bit of fender flare can make such a difference in terms of appearance. Even if you ignore the cool-factor of having a v-8 in it, this is still a very nice example, I like that hard top too! thanks for posting.

  • schnickes auto

  • must be fun changing the Timing Belt on that engine. Next step is to polish the intake and runners to a mirror finish. That would really set it off.

  • it's one of porsche models wich were not pretty not even look like a porsche

  • @curancho funny thing about 914's, some colors with some wheels are undeniably homely. however some colors with updated trim, and the right wheels makes a very sleek car. First thing to go is the vinyl pillars. (my '72 was blue metalflake with 916 fiberglass bumpers and riviera 5 spokes, lowered an inch) The beauty of the 914 is it was one of the most practical sportscars ever. 30 mpg, two trunks, tons of room.

  • Very sexy car.....I would like to mention that Porsche made a prototype of a 914 with a V8 engine...

  • @TESTASPEEDER

Yes it was a Flat 8 aircooled, just like the 911 engines.

2 versions, one race for 300hp red and a silver one 260hp for Dr Porsche.

The cool thing is that people still like these cars put cars the alwaya come back to life.

    Thanks

  • @quilmes the p911's dont have flat 8's

  • @TESTASPEEDER Hi... do you have some material about that prototye V8?

  • I'm just glad you didn't stick an MOPAR V8 in this beauty!

The Germans do make good stuff.

  • very clever. i was thinkin there was going to be like a chevy v8

  • @nitrojoe9 Nah, then it would have run forever and we can't have Porsches doing that! I lov 'em but gawd they have sure produced some crap!

  • COOL

  • Very nice! ...and you kept it Porsche. Thats what I like to see.

  • Pretty cool except for the shift linkage hanging out the back, wouldn't it be vulnerable to damage?

  • Very nice! Great job representing the V8 conversion community!

  • hey wat kind of transaxle did you use? Im doing the same engine swap in my 914 but im not sure on wat transaxle to put in... I may have to adapt the bell housing...

  • whats that thing that was moving?

  • @LordPS3

    The Shift Linkage

  • oh. thanks!

  • one of my fav porsches

  • Very clean and tastefully done!!!! 5 stars for you!!!!!

  • that if fuckin sweet

  • i never knew the engline was in the middle of the 914 :P

  • All Porsche baby! Love it!

  • ugliest porsche ever.

  • its an acquire taste. really.

drive one, youll fall in love.

    i did :/

  • I'd love to put a V8 in my black 914. This is nutsss.

  • I'd lower the exhaust pipe closer to the ground. One can never have too low of an exhaust pipe.

  • thats a big squeeze

  • looks like fun is all i can say heh

  • 10 lbs of shit 3 lb bag, had 1 w/350 in it was a bit hard on CV joints and windshields torqe was the problem! but would eat just about anything around easy install w/kit love a sleeper with extra helping of whimpering!

  • its nice with them big fenders like mine and is that a 944 motor on that?

  • it looks like an early 928 engine, 944 engine was 1/2 a 928 engine.

  • what an ugly car lol i hate the 914 but this is a project to be PROUD of!

its funny to see the similarities between this car (body style of 914) and the carrera gt.

  • YOU ARE OBVIOUSLY RETARDED?!? Do you not realise that Porsche adopts the principles of their car models being Evolutionary steps?

Also if you think this car is ugly, you are clearly blind.....

  • You took the words right out of my mouth.

As for the swap, I usually look down on Porsche swaps because they(mostly 914,944,928) usually involve putting Chevy engines in them. But in this case, it was done right sticking with an engine from the same bloodline. Good job.

  • Oh it must of been while you were ki....... Oh wait..... I see what you did there... lol never the less again nice car thanks for refreshing my memory on this sexy car.

  • +1 for being smart my friend.

  • @tomkkkkk Some people just don't like the way the back roof doesn't slope and just stands straight. I've always appreciated the 914...It's actually made in Volkswagen plant, so I wonder sometimes if it was meant to replace the Karmen Ghia...

  • your a legend

  • wow that looks so good with that motor

  • I bet it goes like hell, but I don't know about the tranny being the back bumper. How many times have you scraped the back bumper leaving a parking lot much less this little beast. Otherwise awesome car.

  • Porsche V8 because it is a Porsche! I bought a complete 928 Euro engine for US$300.00, how's that for bargain?

  • I bought my whole 914 for the same amount :) but it Obviously is NOWHERE near as nice as this one. And my father's 928 engines aren't european. What about an audi 4.2l v8?(he also has one of those) :)

  • Wicked;) I would love to hear it run!

  • awsome. i have a 79' 928 and i have wondered if this set up would work in a 914. how is the weight distribution?

  • Umm, this is a 914, my man. With a V8. A big one. Made in America because we make the torqueiest V8's in the world.

  • Actually my man it's a Porsche V8, and not really big at 4.7 liters. And unlike most American V8s, the use of alloy metals is extensive to keep weight down. While Americans can lay claim to the first V8s, I'm not sure about the "torqueiest" - Mercedes/AMG SL 55 R230 V8 puts out north of 740 ft/lbs of torque. You'd be hard pressed to find those numbers from an American production car you can buy at a dealership with a warranty.

  • @perrysan1 Well, i Love mercedes AMG, and it's true, the SL 55 Puts out 740Ft/Lbs of torque, but that's a new generation V8. New american V8s are not very torquy, but a 351 cleveland (around 5.7 litres) produced around 600 Ft/lbs of torque in 1971, with little modifications, you could get over 700 out of an iron carburated engine, and not a new generation fuel injected V8, being both about nearly 5.6 litres. And if you don't mind about size, Buick Gs Had some with over 700

  • 928 v8 is not made in the usa.

  • that looks amazing. thanks for uploading
